I was thinking the same thing. Similar to The alchemist armadillo in the last Charlie episode. In a world of senselessness and absurdity you gravitate to characters like Lark
"The dead don't retain the memories of their final 5 to 10 minutes of life I have no idea why but that always seems to be the case." Now with the release of the epilogue - Oh god it all makes sense.

I noticed that, TOO! I was kinda wondering if I was imagining it. That Pelican is jacked, dude. He also doesn't skip Leg Day, which... You know, that's vital. Kudos to him.
At the time I had no idea HOW FRICKING GOOD this series would be. I just knew it was fascinating and surprisingly nuanced. The conversation with the harpy eagle was just so well done.
With greater understanding of /what this all represents/ upon a second watching (after "Fall of…"), this all takes on a whole new level of "oh f…" - and it was written this way from the beginning, it seems. Oh f…
Rewatching after the eleventh episode and all these subtle horrifying details sprinkled through the series…Lordy. You’re an artist. This series is your greatest work.
I am glad that Jason Steele got this opportunity from Channel Frederator. He earned it and I hope he gets many more opportunities like this in the future!
Ive been rewatching these three episodes ever since it was announced that more is coming. I never got tired of this series. The world building is sooooo good, and how we're fed clues abt it is rly good. I'm so excited.
Oh hey! This video is featured in UA-cam's indie animator highlight "Set In Motion" today! Welcome folks - this is FilmCow. You might recognize him as the guy who made Charlie the Unicorn. Bizarre settings, existential themes, and absurdist comedy are hallmarks of his. If you liked this, check out some of his other stuff! He also has The Video Game Valley - nightly chill streams of obscure vintage games from 11:00 PM - 1:00 AM EST where he's open to answering questions and chatting about various topics.
Looking back through this, I noticed a detail I never noticed before. Pecan doesn't seem to particularly care about her king, Darius. If you pay attention to her eyes at a couple points of the interaction, she looks annoyed/ rolls her eyes the best a pelican could do.
All three episodes have been up on the Cartoon Hangover website for quite some time. And the last one ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I also hope there's more to come in the future.
I recognize the voice but I CANNOT remember from where? I can hear the line "What?! No, no I don't" in my head but I have no idea where that's from😭 Edit: Figured it out. It's from ASDF Movies and it's the one where someone says "Watch out, that puppy has a knife" and the dog says the line above and it's sounds just like Gloves.
Honestly, this is the content ive been looking for, not just on your channel, but on UA-cam. Please do keep making more I cant wait to see how the story unfolds.
It's strange, I go back to watch these 3 episodes each time I feel depressed. This strange series really resonates with me. I really hope you'd have the time to make more of these some day, although I'm guessing maybe it is also emotionally taxing on you to do so.
High Garden I'm uh, I'm not picking up any gravity falls vibes at all. They are both cartoons? Both humorous? I'm picking up filmcow vibes, pretty sure that's because it's a filmcow video though.
I'm really glad you're doing a big Charlie finale, I am. I remember when a buddy of mine showed me the first Charlie the Unicorn video when we were in Iraq way back in 2007. I loved it, and I still do, and I can't wait to see your big finish. But I want you to come back to this one so much. Shadowstone just really encapsulates everything about your work I love. It's so beautifully sad and dark and depressing and mysterious, but goddamn if it isn't funny as hell. It's like something by Kafka, or PKD, or Gilliam. So absurd that it's horrifying, but so horrifying that you can't even believe it and so you just have to laugh. You're a genius, and I really do believe that.
I cannot overstate how much I love this series. A serious departure from the story telling formula of your previous works while still keeping your signature quirky tone. I sincerely hope you continue Shadowstone Park Someday.
This brought me the ease I needed today after and awful day with family arguments and all... thanks, I really appreciate all of your projects. Yesterday's Detective Heart of America loop stream was awesome btw, thanks for that one too.
Horse murder: the most unforgivable of the various types of murder.
What is the second most unforgivable type of murder?
That bird is hella buff.
FilmCow waited forever for this to come out I’m not disappointed I love this
Horse murder is terrible insteed.
That dialogue with crush was haunting.
A pelican with an 8 pack helping a paralyzed cat. I can safely say I didn't see that coming.
the horse was a pretty obvious element though
Also a blind owl.
DrOdd
I think there would've been a riot if there wasn't a horse...
Beg 457
I didnt realize the cat was paralyzed😂
The pelican is female.
Lark has a very comforting presence and mannerisms
I was thinking the same thing. Similar to The alchemist armadillo in the last Charlie episode.
In a world of senselessness and absurdity you gravitate to characters like Lark
Love the voice acting talent behind Crush the Harpy Eagle, she's amazing :) xx
Tiana Camacho is extremely good!
Cutting the Caboose She did a surprisingly good job all things considered
Serriously props, she nailed it
And what about the cat, pelican, owl and horse voice actors huh? What are they chopped liver?!
Honestly I'd say that even with the whole filmcow voice she portrayed emotions and the character the most personally
Pecan did not skip leg day.
Ur avatar picture skipped leg day
that is true
Pecan didn't skip any day lol
She sure didn't
Lark skipped it
The comedy? Nuanced. The characters? Well written. The plot? Surprisingly simple yet charming. 9/10 -1 for Darius’ flappy beak
Asrael Dreemur Darius’s flappy beak ads +1 so 11/10
Hotel? Trivago.
Yeah, fuck that beak
I think that I'll give this 9/11
its kinda like the 9/11 of shows... mostly because he didn't finish it :)

For real that performance even in this setting was heavy

Even with the epilogue, how does it explain the last 5-10 minutes?

Some subtle hints at worldbuilding? Now that has caught my interest. What crazy world have you built for us...?
Worldbuilding? Nah. From what I've seen, just focus on letting go of the world and then you'll vanish
I'm guessing when talking animals become violent and start killing. They have to be banished from the park before they completely lost their minds.
This is like Charlie the Unicorn and Twin Peaks mixed together
Heh thats what im thinking lol
Hmm, I was gonna say South Park had sex with Llamas with hats, and they had a tired baby, and named it this.
YES
The question is... are owls still bugs?
Damn pecan is super buff
PERIWINKLE'S SUPREME he has to carry a cat
PERIWINKLE'S SUPREME pecan?

But he doesn't appreciate owl humor. :(
SHE. Pecan is a SHE (watch her introduction)
Finally, I can watch Glove's full story play out from beginning to end.
The ship had issues processing Glove's gloves. Guess instead of being saved in the memory compartment they were saved in the glove compartment.

That moment with Crush was so.... deep?
I know how you feel about that..
Crush's voice acting is actually amazing
All of the characters have such distinct personalities and they all seem like they know each other and have specific reputations. I love it
Lark might be one of my favorite characters in anything period. I love his simple and dignified resignation, and his serene politeness in all things.
We need more Magical Realm of Horseman.
what could've been if that pilot had taken off...
The origin story
Marshmellow people too
Erik, this is the 9/11 of comments.

One of my favorite parts is Lark trying to defend Gloves' "joke" to Crush.

Wow. That went from ridiculous to epically dramatic. And then back to ridiculous.

Honestly, an absolutely brilliant series. Perfect balance of absurdism and mystery.
Just watched this for the first time. Way more intriguing than I expected. Is this one gonna be dark? Not just in the regular needlessly cruel way?
