Does using Art-Net allow you to use onyx without delays? I have an old version which I used (free without delays) with Enttec's USB DMX and was thinking about going to Art-Net/sACN so I could update, as I heard they removed support for third-party USB controllers. If not I'll just have to stick with version 4.2
There are a lot of untrue rumors around this. The delay is only on playbacks, and only those playbacks being sent via OSC. You can use MIDI buttons, but not faders), via MIDI directly. ShowCockpit does use the OSC connection, so there is a delay. The art-net connection itself has no delay.
Maybe it's a stupid question but can i use any usb to dmx dongle to connect my lights or it has to be the nx-dmx? The enttec usb dmx pro, for exemple, would work?
Has to be the NX. Other dongles aren't supported anymore because the team had to spend a lot of time keeping the code up-to-date to keep them working...and at the end of the day that doesn't make sense for something that doesn't make them any money!
They're actually completely different. The SYNC only brings in/out timecode. It does not transmit DMX. The NX-DMX is the opposite - it transmits/receives DMX, does NOT do anything with timecode.
I believe the reason the NX-DMX doesn't get full OSC isn't the price. It's because you can get the old M-DMX on the cheap in china which unlocks the same things the original units do. They cannot force us to buy the NX-DMX when we have an M-DMX so they locked it down.
Yes - (I have spoken with Matthias on this many times). The hardware design is the same as the old martin unit, and it's no encrypted on the hardware end. Sorry if my explanation was misleading :) The NX-DMX literally can't be allowed to unlock the software without allowing all the cheap clones in as well.
@@robinhayat112 find out for yourself, I'm not going to support these knock-off products. The team at Obsidian Control Systems put a lot of work into the software which has to get payed for somehow.
@@BartKrap understood, just wanted a cheap unit to try it out and then buy an official device once I am confident using the software. Never used a console or software before.

Is the time code on the nx sync the only difference between nx DMX ?

If I buy an nx dmx, can I control my playbacks etc via Show Cokckpit and the Onyx OSC driver and an Akai APC mini?
No, Nx-Touch or higher is required

Are the china M-DMX reliable units, any links where to buy?

@@robinhayat112 Also don't bother asking David, he's definitely not going to help you either.
