I think Goodwill’s prices are outrageous especially since they get all these things for free. You find the best stuff! The lamp, flowers, and chalkboard vignette is perfect! And the bloopers …lol
Your dog is adorable❤️ I have a fur baby who is 18 years and nine months old…Hope your little one has a nice long life too. Loved seeing the haul, and what you did with the items👍.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos because you have such an eye for potential and I always learn something. I snag lampshades at At Home, too, and I love what you did to that ginger jar lamp. Its fresh and classic now. I never thought about washing faux flowers in the tub; you are brilliant! I do put thrifted baskets in the shower to wash the dust out of them. All of today's projects are making me think about spring. Its so danged cold here in east Tennessee that I'm looking at gardening books to deal with it. Bundle up and stay warm!
There prices are outrageous! Use to be you could get a deal but now days they’re taking advantage of thrifting being popular. I don’t go to them at all!
I’m not a goodwill shopper , because I had a friend that worked for one and I would hear the stories . I went into one with a friend some of the prices are equal to more no joke. I understand rent and payroll but when items are donated in, they are free they should be at very affordable prices because then you will flip your merchandise so much quicker.
I have never particularly liked green, but I am obsessed with that celery green.. I’ve painted quite a few small items, like birds and birdhouses and I love it ❤️❤️
You are a Treasure,🤓. The cartoon girl isn’t Strawberry Shortcake herself but maybe one of her friends(?) You do very neat things with your makeovers, etc. Thank you for sharing! I truly hope you all are prosperous and especially this week, staying warm. Yes! Love the bloopers-
It’s lemon chiffon or lemon meringue pie. I had all those figurines, they were made to smell like their fruit too. One year I got the strawberry shortcake gazebo. Ahhhh memories!!
Cory, thank you for being you! Your channel is my favorite! I don’t usually comment but I just had to say thanks for being positive and kind and creative. I feel like we would be friends if we lived near each other. God bless you!
I agree with you on the Goodwills. I live right outside of Austin Tx and the decor items are not many!Prices are high. They are also building a lot of new centers around my area. I heard that lots of donations are being placed their online website. I still enjoy going and getting good stuff!
Wow I would never even consider buying from goodwill online. Thrifting is an in person activity for me. I know Austin has gotten so expensive for everything very rapidly.
I agree the thrift store below my house had some ppl working there that would look up prices stuff on internet& things were do high But the first lady who worked there has came back& prices are soo much better
Cory...I like that you show us what is in the Goodwill stores in your neck of the woods. I agree, thrifting at Goodwill in better neighborhoods seems to always add to what they offer overall. Why are the prices so high? Even here in So Cal, I have run into that...the goods ARE used...how does Goodwill justify the higher prices? The lamp you bought and repainted looks so much better and up to date. Have a good weekend and wear some gloves, Girl!! Brrr!! Blessings! 😍💜💜🙏🙏🙏

The bowl of moss would be perfect for a fairy garden. The thrift stores in my area of Michigan have gotten too expensive, it is rare to find a good deal. It is Very disappointing because I used to love to go shop at them. I have no goodwill stores anywhere near me. I love your projects.
Got a chuckle from your bloopers talking about the temperature. Im in Iowa and we are just now warming up to single digits from -20 with 20" of snow this past week. Makes it hard to be outside. Loved what you did to the lamp and how to clean the flowers. Love your content! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve only been to the bins. Maybe twice. We in east central Iowa are required to wear gloves, either bring your own or buy they’d. Love that blue shelf with the hooks. ❤❤❤
Great haul. They were good ones anyway. All of your projects came out very nice. You always do an awesome job. Thanks for sharing your ideas, Cory ❤. Stay warm and safe. I live in Texas as well.
@@DesertDIY Was editing my comment cause I thought I might have sounded harsh about the lamp. Not sure who she is, but I know that Strawberry Shortcake was dressed in red with a strawberry shaped hat and fabric dress.

I love small lamps! Love the balls! Rusty bins! I plant flowers for my porch in those, deck too! Big white basket for Smooch Mellos or dog toys. Blue scribby in tub cob web chaser, ha! The little chalk board "God loves You". Cute topiaries!Put that box on a desk, bill paying station! Put lil tag in slot, Bills. That was fun. thanks! I've lived in Michigan 75 years, you NEVER get used to the COLD! or snow, wind, ice, blah!
Strawberry shortcake had red hair - but she certainly looks like she could be part of those dolls. 😊I had forgotten about those dolls from my childhood- I had Apple Dumpling. She smelled like apple pie ❤
My Goodwill is the same way in Tomball Texas. Everything only on the top of clothes racks. Not like it used to be. Overpriced items! Don't put new stuff out often. They got new credit card machines a few months ago. I've been in twice and both times they have broken down and it takes them forever to ring up everything again. She rang up the same items 7 times. I just wanted to say you know what you can keep it and walk out. Liked your flips. Yeah Strawberry Shortcake had a lot of friends and i think that was one.
Dollar store has floral foam! $1.25. Sometimes packing foam will work. I have spayed window cleaner on silk flowers and then given them a bath, put a bit of fragrant oil on the stem.
I live in Indiana County in Western PA. Our Goodwill is so ridiculously expensive. Then they have the "boutique" and they charge new prices. Our salvation army isn't too bad but I stopped shopping Goodwill.
The "boutiques" are the worst. People shop second hand because they can't afford new or don't want to pay new prices and yet they ask new prices for used thing that they get for free. Makes me sick to my stomach

Lmao made me laugh watching your bloopers and you talking about -12 in Missouri lol…I’m in Missouri (born and raised) and this week we’ve had -26 temps …ya just don’t go outside for more than a minute or so 😂 (at least I don’t lol)
The cold was unreal....I hope you fare better when it comes back friday. My sister opened her garage and had a heater in it for her chickens. They decided to roost on top of the chicken coop. Amazing the chickens all survived. I want a Goodwill bin store!
Chickens actually do better in cold weather than they do in heat but they are still able to get frost bite. Wild birds survive the cold so I can see why chickens can too. I miss having my flock of chickens 😞 I didn't realize we were getting more cold weather yikes
Sadly yes, but only Friday and Saturday. Not quite as cold as it has been. Next week is slated for rain and temps in the upper 50's. Making me long for spring.
I would have definitely picked the things that you did ( especially things like the chalkboard/easel . But there are things that you passed which i would have taken like the candlesticks w/ crystals and the moss-filled container.
Being someone who lived most of her life in a cold climate - how do we live like that? - we wear mittens when it is that cold 😂 plus because in Canada we use Celsius - all numbers below freezing are negative - hence your negative experience of painfully cold fingers at -10 Celsius 😉, and it was windy which made it even colder! Wind chill factor is something those of us in the North are very familiar with. Just as Humidity plays a huge factor in hot weather as I am sure you are experiencing in Huston after living in the desert. Funny we get hot and humid here too, -30F in winter and then 100F and humid. Maybe the question is “why do you live like that?” Rather than “How” Just kidding I actually love the changes of seasons and temperatures - I love swimming and also wearing lots of winter gear, and sitting by an open fire. ❤
I lived in Houston in the early eighties. It was 6° on Christmas eve. Pipes burst all over the city. It was a disaster. I hope you warm up soon. And wear your gloves 🧤 😊 Great video. Love the topiaries.
Thank you Ellen. Wow 6 degrees! People had pipes burst both winters we have lived here so far. We shut our water off at the main when these crazy weather days come.
I don't know how far away from Sugarland/Rosenberg/Richmond tx area, but they are in the Houston area, and they all have great Goodwill's, never disappointed at them.
Haha! I dont decorate for "winter". I go straight to spring after Xmas because winter is so gray and boring without any leaves on the trees etc. I add the green INSIDE lol
I saw a video in the last week where a woman was making dupes from pricy stores. She actually did the mossy piece. But you of course got the real thing.
Always great watching your videos. Maybe also do more, 'Dupe for Less' - Dupe High-end expensive items for Less with items from the Thrift store. God bless you and your family. xox
We are finding the same issue in the Florida and Ga area. I’m attributing the issue as FB marketplace, Etsy, and Instagram are with more online buyers and dupe sellers are reselling items at higher prices. Our Goodwill is also higher prices. As everyone’s budget is feeling the hurt, we are all living on secondhand shopping to fill our homes. Supply and demand is the issue. If you search retail thrifts, you find a ton of resellers throughout the country. Goodwill and thrift stores are reacting by the demand.
I am in Florida I was told by a good night associate that it is turning into a goodwill boutique and they’re raising the prices comparable to what we sell would be because of all the flippers and resellers they are getting their part to
We’re in Denver. 3 days ago we were below zero We were at BlackEyed Peak for dinner and a family sat down. They said they flew in from Houston and how cold it was there. Couldn’t believe that
If it makes you feel better it’s -7 with the wind chill today where I am. I’d take 30 any day now. Also I would have bought that yellow vase. I would have repainted it.
I thought about something when you were comparing prices at Goodwill locations: we have "good" thrift stores in my area where you can find great stuff that's still fairly inexpensive, and we have ones where the prices are too outrageous for used goods. Goodwill tends to be one of the "bad" ones. However, I recently picked up a small 1970s Thomasville pecan-finish credenza with "radio-weave" rattan panels at Goodwill for $30 to use in my craft room. I was thinking that $30 was a bit much (the sides are plywood beneath the veneer), but I really need the storage. Yesterday I found that same piece, tarnished brass ring pulls and all, for $750 on Chairish. Now I think I didn't do too badly!
We in the NW have GW bins but I haven't been there yet. The GW prices are high everywhere. And I would have gotten the tall glass items. They looked vintage.😅🎉❤
Here in North Carolina my local Goodwills do have a few actual employees but they depend on the courts sending them people who are required to perform community service. Here if you are sentenced to community service they most often send you to work your time at Goodwill. Goodwill then utilizes that help to stock their shelves. I'm not sure if that is something is just done here locally where I am or if that is a common practice in other areas as well. Might be why they have not had enough help to stock their shelves.
I only really have 2 goodwill store in my area. I live in between them so it's about 10 to 12 miles from my home in opposite directions. There are other thrift shops, about 3 of them, one being a restore, but they price 1 or 2 more than goodwill on smaller items. Our goodwill stores don't do bins as far as I know. They seem to be staffed o.k., lots of stuff. My niece works at one of them I will have to ask her. My first thrift was 32.00, the pricing if all sell will be 330.00. I redid everything, including baskets, either painted or added ropes and beads, or transfers. I did picture frames with Das molds, mushrooms and frills, then added fairy transfers for the pics. I guess I will see how they sell. My second thrift was 43.00, working on them now, I will let you know how it goes. I would take 14 degrees in a heart beat here, slammed with snow well over a foot and 6 to 8 degrees mostly all the time. Really can't spray or sand outside because way to cold. Yes, we are used to it a little bit more here in MI., thanks for sharing your thrifts!!!
@DesertDIY yes, I was surprised the day I went. The roads had been glare ice. I almost rear ended a car only going about 5 mph. I had to go pick up meds and take xmas stuff out of my booth, which was the only reason I went out! I think I did get better stuff that day so maybe a few less people. The parking lots were full of cars!
Hey! New friend here. I am glad to know that it’s not just the Goodwill stores near me that price so high! I have a booth as well so it’s hard when you can’t find those lower prices. I am also finding that the stores around me don’t really have much.
Over here in South Texas The Rio Grande Valley the goodwill stores don't have much and if they do it's over priced which I find ridiculous cause the item's were donated .. On another note we're going to be in the 70s by tomorrow or Friday your fingers will thaw out stay safe and blessed
@@DesertDIY wouldn't that be good but I doubt it . What worked for me is that I bought an outdated tall vase I added air dry clay rose's and Greenery all done with clay and gave it a cottage look not hobbit looking 😂😂 thought I share some inspiration when you find a boring vase or lamp
Definitely not strawberry shortcake. My daughter was obsessed and her bedroom decorated that way. But, you made me feel old since that was 40 years ago.
An old post that came up in my Facebook memories today said that in 2015 childrens clothes up to 2t were $1 and over 2t were $2 at ny local goodwill. Theyre between double and 10 times that price now.
I think Goodwill’s prices are outrageous especially since they get all these things for free.
You find the best stuff! The lamp, flowers, and chalkboard vignette is perfect!
And the bloopers …lol
I agree
Agree, don't go to Good Will anymore because of the high prices😮

We’re in Denver. 3 days ago we were below zero We were at BlackEyed Peak for dinner and a family sat down. They said they flew in from Houston and how cold it was there. Couldn’t believe that
It happens about once a year here for 2 days usually. Very strange stuff
If it makes you feel better it’s -7 with the wind chill today where I am. I’d take 30 any day now. Also I would have bought that yellow vase. I would have repainted it.
Yikes that's cold!
How awesome! I love when I find stuff like that too. But yes I wouldve felt like I over paid at first like you did.
We in the NW have GW bins but I haven't been there yet. The GW prices are high everywhere. And I would have gotten the tall glass items. They looked vintage.😅🎉❤
Good eye! Yes such a bummer about these prices 😕
Love the lamp shade you bought
I love it!
Looks like a pretty good haul.
On the white lamp try using pure acetone and I am pretty sure it will take the decal off
10:00 resembles the fruit of Hedge Apples.
Oh good point
I hope you get top dollar for your makeovers! Do people still go out and shop in that type of weather?
@DesertDIY yes, I was surprised the day I went. The roads had been glare ice. I almost rear ended a car only going about 5 mph. I had to go pick up meds and take xmas stuff out of my booth, which was the only reason I went out! I think I did get better stuff that day so maybe a few less people. The parking lots were full of cars!
Wear thin knit gloves to keep the cold from touching your skin. You're welcome😊
Thank you!
Hey! New friend here. I am glad to know that it’s not just the Goodwill stores near me that price so high! I have a booth as well so it’s hard when you can’t find those lower prices. I am also finding that the stores around me don’t really have much.
Isn't it such a bummer! Yard sales are harder to find now too. Thank you so much for watching, I am so happy you are here
I don't like Goodwill anymore they have raised the prices way to high for free donated items. Your make overs are so beautiful!
I agree
Over here in South Texas The Rio Grande Valley the goodwill stores don't have much and if they do it's over priced which I find ridiculous cause the item's were donated .. On another note we're going to be in the 70s by tomorrow or Friday your fingers will thaw out stay safe and blessed
Yay for some normal weather coming. It really is hard to respect the greed for things that were donated. I wonder if that will ever change
We just went back I to the positive degrees with a feel of 0 today.
Yikes! Brrrr!
Definitely not strawberry shortcake. My daughter was obsessed and her bedroom decorated that way. But, you made me feel old since that was 40 years ago.
Thank you! And I know I'll be having those same feelings some day when my daughters are in their 40s
Hi strawberry shortcake has pink and red clothes and has strawberries on her hat ❤
Yes we definitely have reduced inventory at Goodwill and also not high quality items
I dont think they have reduced donations but maybe I am wrong. I would think they have tons of stuff they could be selling
An old post that came up in my Facebook memories today said that in 2015 childrens clothes up to 2t were $1 and over 2t were $2 at ny local goodwill. Theyre between double and 10 times that price now.
for used clothes. Sometimes more expensive than new clothes at walmart
Great finds and makeovers❤
Thank you so much Mary
That ginger jar lamp is Holly Hobby, strawberry shortcake is pink and red ❤
Oh wow! Finally we know who it is thank you
Great GREAT LOVED IT S0 MUCH!!!!!!!!
Yay thank you!
When I first saw your thumbnail, I thought it was broccoli in that bowl 😆
Hahahah! That's hilarious
I really love the moss bowl, it's my favourite, I'm just wondering if I could replicate it. Thinking cap on 😂😂
I am sure you can make something similar
I wish i was there to get those pig canisters lol I have been looking for a set when thrifting and have not been so lucky to come across any.
Wow, 30 degrees!!
The topiary balls look like breadfruit!😂
Im in Florida, same issues. especially prices missing on many items
Such a weird issue to have! Haha
