      I've never been a Boston Celtic fan but I've learned to love the greatness of Larry Bird

      It's (IMO) very difficult to pick who's #1 because there were/are so many great player's but Bird is definitely in the top 5 of all time IMO

      No, but I'd definitely put him in the top 10, possibly top 5.

    I think Kareem said it best when he said that Bird's mind was his greatest weapon. He knew when to most effectively use each aspect of his game at the appropriate time.

      Birds basketball IQ was freakish. Him and Magic were absolutely superior in their IQ.

    Forgot to mention that game he shot left handed when he was right handed. And still killed it.

    It’s wonderful to see how much respect these old players have for each other. The clip where he and Magic both insists that the other guy was a better player speaks volumes about their character.

    Something Kareem and a few others I've heard say that Bird was always in the right place at the right time. When that happens a lot of times as it did with Bird, its no accident! I believe his nickname fits perfectly: Larry Legend!

    There really were some great players in that era, and Larry was like Dale Earnhardt “The intimidator” Opposing players just couldn’t figure out Larry’s logic. Just watching this video makes me want to watch basketball again!

      Don't do it. You'll be highly disappointed. Keep your basketball worldview with Bird.

    To me the measurement of how good or great a player was is by what his peers have to say about them and there were a lot of players, coaches, that reaped praise on Bird, we're talking HOF players like Kareem, Jordan, Wilkins, Thomas, Shaq, Magic, Worthy to name a few, and coaches like Layden, Knight, Cunningham, Hubie Brown, Pat Riley and most of us are familiar with what Pat Riley said about the Legend.

    To add to that Bird, Jordan and Lebron are the only ones to win AP sports athlete of the year.

    Court savy beyond belief. Jabbar said Bird had a sense to always be in the right place according to what was best, an uncanny 6th sense.

    Starting five of all time no brainer Larry Legend , MJ , wilt Chamberlain, Lebron, Kobe Bryant. I will say this there is another five that would be quite effective.

    Man, I am so glad that I am 60 years old because I saw all of the BEST in their prime. Bird was a killer. I'm born and raised in Philly and that rivalry with the Celtics is very real. Larry Bird was a Killer. Is he the GOAT? I saw Jordan, Chamberlain; my pop went to West Catholic and Wilt was at Overbrook. He would tell me stories about some of those games. Make your hair stand up. Wilt was the MOST dominate player, ever. The best was Michael. He did it all. Played Bball at the highest level then goes to play baseball then comes back to Basketball and didn't miss a beat. Larry Bird? A Killer. For me it's Jordan, Chamberlain and Bird. Oh, did I say that Bird was a Killer?

    Larry Joe just knew how to get into their heads before the game even started. He might have been slow and not very athletic, but he intimated you by getting into your head.

    I'm still confused about the fight with Dr. J... Yes Bird was disrespectful telling him to retire, but when they got into it... were Moses and Charles being like HS bullies and holding him while their guy got in some punches or were they trying to break it up.. Not into HS bully thing.. If Dr. J wanted to go after Bird one on one.. ok.. not 3 on one. not cool

    It is amazing to me that Larry who looks like history teacher with a normal physique possessed these legendary skill set is mind boggling. Magic summed it up by saying Larry is so good it’s frightening.

    • @LogicallyKnot
      @LogicallyKnot 7 годин тому

      Luka wishes he was Larry Bird. He's not even in the same dimension. Needs to spam picks to get his shot off in a league that plays zero exactly defense and he himself plays exactly zero defense. Not even in the same dimension.

      Wilt was not motivated like Larry Legend was, nuthin against his, his talent, skill snd accomplishments were prodigious...just LB was like a great white shark who smelled blood in the water at all times..

      (There’s a debate in Boston as to who the greatest Celtic is (Russell Havlicek or bird)……so HTF can he be the goat & not be the best on his own team?5)

    • @rustysm8080
      @rustysm8080 9 днів тому

      @morrisparrish76 Who debates that? Larry, by far, is the greatest Celtic...meaning no disrespect to Bill or John at all...all their rings and greatness...
      But, come on. It's not a debate. 😂
