We're beyond excited to play Final Fantasy 8 all over again... so much nostalgia! We hope you guys enjoyed the video - how many of you are intending to pick the game up on the 3rd Sept? (which is coincidentally Darryl's birthday, so thanks for the nice birthday present Square Enix!)
Same so excited I’ve never even able to play the full game my stepdad had a ps1 demo disk with a small demo of FF8 on it and as a kid I would play it over and over, now I will finally be able to experience the full game
I remember playing this whilst grounded and without a memory card for a bit. I left my PS2 on hidden under some clothes for like a week. Suprised it didn't overheat. Waking up at 4 am to play it in my room before school and after my parents fell asleep. It was my first Final Fantasy and still my favorite FF story.
@@MagiaErebea028 was it the Pizza hut demo? I had that one and played it constantly when I was at my grandma's. Got it like 3 years later when the Ps2 came out and loved it! still haven't beaten it but I plan to come September 3rd.
Sort of a same but opposite situation, I never had an ounce of trouble with homework and getting good grades in my early years, and I feel confident in crediting FF8 for that. The reading comprehension required to progress the story, especially at that age, helped immensely in making the rest of the elementary years somewhat effortless. It's one thing to read a book, where page 2 will always lead to page 3, but it's another thing entirely to piece together context clues and dialogue exposition to figure out the next step, especially when the game opens up the world to you.
Thats great man. Final fantasy helped me alot as a kid without many mates, and a home life that could be bad at times. I have a lot of love for these games.
Indeed. I was always jilted that Shana got that short end of the stick and thought long ago that if they ever would remaster it, they would make her a 'proper' character.
FF8 would really benefit from a remake...according to Nojima there wasn't enough time to implement the last 35-40% of the story. Also re-imagined Junction System, more lore, new activites, expanded areas, etc.
I agree. This game desperately needed a remake, not a remaster. It feels lazy. I would have happily waited another year or 2 for a full remake. I feel they created the remaster to shut everyone up. Its a great game, but it is a shame they have neglected it so much.
@@Thesakuraharona I'm still holding out hope that a remake will come. It's weird that 7 came before 8 and got spin offs a movie and more but they never explored 8 or 9. 10 got 10-2 and 13 got what 3 games? 8 and 9 definitely need more love and attention
@@CJTranceAddiction I'm not saying it's not but people really love the other games as well. How many people bought the FF9 remaster and will most likely buy the FF8 remaster? We are literally buying the same ps2 games with updates just to get our fill of our favorite games
@@zleo7054 I hear ya, but I'm just sayin the FFVII fanbase is so huge that Square HAD to go with that one for the remake. The materia system is arguably the best and most fun magic system in the entire series. I really do hope that FFVIII gets the FFVIIR treatment.
I really hate that they used the dissidia models for the faces. they clash SO MUCH with the FMVs. really wish they'd be a bit more faithful to the old design.
I feel the same way about FFX remaster, Titus's eye color changed and Wakka got super fat. They definitely look less Asian and more western in this. I hate how Square Enix is obsessed with the euro look and white washes everything.v
@@ViciousKurai Tidus' eye color has always been blue in both the old models, the FMVs and the artwork. Wakka has always had a chubby face and thick body as well. As for euro look and supposed "white-washing", you are clearly someone who is just looking to complain for no real reason. Squall was always designed to look like a white guy, as River Phoenix was Nomura's stated inspiration for the characters design, so he is not white washed in any way because he's already meant to be white. I could go on, but I think it makes sense to leave it at this.
Vicious Kurai the characters that were designed to look white are white washed? How does that make any sense? Is nomura not allowed to create anything but asian characters cause he's asian? Now that's even worse than race washing 😂
i love this game so much, its my favorite FF game, my wife and i even recreate the dance scene during our weddiing waltz, and i pay a jewler to make an exact replica of the squall's ring that i use all the time. thank you for this video men
yeah it's my favourite too. I love ff7 but if you played all final fantasies without music, this one is easily the best (u'd be surprised how much music has an effect on loving something, my favourite film was outsiders till it got re-released with different music ,now it doesn't even make my top ten)
FF8 is my most beloved entry of all the FF games. The story was extremely touching, the music score was beautiful and the characters were all relatable. Now as an adult I’m so excited to replay this game and enjoy it again! This channel has brought back some old feels from when I was young, thank you!
The most important thing for me was the complete overhaul of the backgrounds. Thanks squenix for going the extra mile not just remaster the polygon characters. Thanks!! :D No wait, they were lazy again.
IMO better than nothing, the community GUM AI mod looks promising and maybe it might get other modders off their ass (including myself) in creating awesome backgrounds from the originals. IMO with these new sprites it gives us PC modders the best base for a new HD mod, I personally couldn't stand any of the sprite mods currently available. Unless you plan to play on console OFC.
@@dmaskell92 except that it IS basically nothing. bi linear and linear filtering are literally just a blur filter, they do nothing else but blur a texture. they are NOT for upscaling. hell, even anisotropic filtering could be used INSTEAD of bilinear/linear, and it would looks massively better. HD backgrounds for this game, as well as every single asset period, exist. they are what anyone with any sense uses when they play it on steam. they were made by running the existing textures through ACTUAL filters meant to upscale things and look good.
It's been 20 years now. I was 11. I have a copy, but over the years I lost my memory card, my playstation broke. I'd never thought I'd see it or play it again. And with them saying they lost the source code I was devastated. Last night I found the pre order for the remastered. And man I watched it 4 times. I been crying non stop all day... It's been 20 years. Thank you for this awsome video. Sums it all up
@@scribble71891 sadly no. But I'm still so grateful. I'm actually still crying no joke 😭. I know it's just a silly old game. But my God it pulls my heart stings
No joke. FF8 feels like my first crush for me. Listening to the soundtrack hits me in the feel like a doomtrain. Fuck, that windhill soundtrack and Laguna's back story makes me miss my first love. And the moment where Squall carries Rinoa on an abandoned railway all the way to another country just wrings your heart, it's one of those pure innocent years in your late teens where you would do anything for your first love, like they meant the whole world to you.
@@KyranSparda I was 14 when I first played ...we all kno what boys go through in those years, ff8 broke me down , first and only game to hit me like that and still make me tear up , I think now if I tear prolly the feels of nostalgia ....iam so excited only a few more hours ...ish..
Forgot the censorship. Rinoa’s shirt should be lower on top. Also, imagine how useful turning off encounters would be for the Heaven and Hell islands. Aura farming ftw.
A friend of mine no doubt is going nuts over the fact that this game is getting a remaster. Squall's his favorite character and FF8's his favorite game I'm just glad this gives me a chance to actually play the game again. I never did see it through all the way to the end
@@shadow4040 same here, only one i finished lol was 7 and recently (finally) X, for same reason,id play get so many hours in then get sidetracked for months come back and be lost so id start again .. then same thing get towards the end .. get bored or be under-levelled ... stop again .. 8 i think i did 3 diff play throughs at 50+ hours each ? if i remember right.. and never finished it ... x it took me about 5 plays to actually finish the story .. altho i skipped a lot of the other content which I really wish I had taken the time to do as well .. ff9 got sidetracked by the ps3, never finished altho think i started on 4-5 different occasions,ps2,vita and even pc .. now own on switch too lol, if i just find time to play it ... I do like with the newer games how they have the recap in them so if u havent played for a while and sit down to play its like a mini refresher of what you were up to . I remember on 9 the one time i got a fair way into it, i was open world somewhere and wandering around lost, months later tried to remember what i was doing / couldnt trigger anything to remind me where i was , where i had to go etc .. so again .. gave up ..
I have a bad habit of taking long breaks right before the final boss if there are other side-quests and stuff for me to do, I did that for like 6 months on FF8 and my hard-drive got fried, have only seen parts of the end cinematic and final boss fight through theory videos.
I'm SUPER excited to finally play this game. This was included on a demo disk I had when I was a kid, and now I finally get to experience the full game :D
Haha. That is how I first played FF. That pizza hut demo disc? So I bought this and FF7 back in the day. Now I'm super excited for the FF7 remake and this remaster as well, cause its not just a port.
Glad your enjoying it. I had a hard time getting into it at first because I didn’t really understand how to level your gf’s abilities and the junction system because I’m stupid, but as soon as I got it it was awesome and I replayed it immediately after finishing it to try to optimize the gf’s and characters stats as early as possible
@@ayylmao578 yep yep I had to restart it due to realising that the PC port that I had been playing and loving had wrong audio. I didn't like it by it was fun in the end.
One of my favorite games ever and a total overload of nostalgia for my teenage years and growing up. My wife and I even played Eyes On Me at our wedding. 🙂 Yeah, it would be great if they had done more with the backgrounds and whatnot but I'll take it in any form I can get! I was cleaning out under my stairs a few days ago and just so happened to find my old FF8 PS1 strategy guide. Lol. Can't wait for Tuesday!!!
They’ve changed the soundtrack slightly and it’s terrible!! I’m at the part where I’m doing the SeeD exam in Dollet and I’ve had to mute it because it’s so bad!!
You know that all that motion maked real human dubbers? The dance scene was maked how was maked Avatar. the real actor with electronical dots on body and there its get to the animation....
@@feerocomics5082 The characters in battles have realistical motion cause it was captured from real actors. so they mus have a great characters. :-) In FF it was used in first time.
Glad there is no voice acting. I have a clear imagination of what all their voices sound like, especially squal. Even Seifer sounds like liquid snake in my head.
Just remember to actually watch the tutorials on junctioning and how to refine or draw spells. Many ppl think the game is repetitive/boring because they mass spam the free summons and never make their characters any good.
@@timlamiam my first playthrough I didnt do much wit junction bc I didnt really understand it at that time, my 2nd+ was a god lol was at point juz about any kind of magic attack healed me
@@timlamiam Absolutely this... I had so many friends that complained how boring combat was, because all they did was spam those summons. I suppose FF7 would have been boring too if all I did was summon Knights of the Round over and over. (not to mention twice as long and not in a good way). Haha!
Fearless Composer well we are two different people with different life experiences but I’m glad you were able to fit it in and play it. Not the case on my end.
8 is by far my favorite, but now that it's listed, the changes seem a bit underwhelming. The visuals looked amazing, but the other features leave a "meh" taste.
Even the visual aren't really that great. There's a demo on youtube, and the characters are basically shining and floating on the backgrounds. Also, I can't understand why they changed Squall's hair..
I have my original copy and , yeah idk I thought they should remade it instead. The story, junction system, and the lore. A rare underdog of a masterpiece that’s only setback was graphical, IF that.
I’ve been playing Final Fantasy 8 Remastered, and I must say that it remains my #1 fave FF game. I may be disappointed that there’s no voice acting, I am very pleased that the characters and graphics are now more smooth and the music and cutscenes are very enjoyable just like back when I used to watch my oldest sister play the game.
Couldnt agree more !!! Ffviii was also my first ff and I thought it was impossible for a game to hook me more than metal gear , i put in so many hours in ff8, the past year and half i been wanting to play it again , but didnt have a ps1 or ps3 , and didnt have the extra funds , but recently i got a ps1 , so now I can do a direct comparison hehe, last time I was this hyped for any kind of release was for division 1 , but this hype surpasses that by far, always telling my wife ff8 is still the best game to date ! Then witcher 3 follows haha
@@shadow4040 if it's a puzzle then you can probably find a vid on youtube to help you out.. if it's a battle then using Rikku is the best way due to her mix ability..
Ever since I was a kid, I always wished a newer version of the game would make Edea, Laguna, Kiros, and Ward permanent party members. I thought somebody would've modded them in the game eventually, but alas. Oh well, this looks great and I can't wait to play the Remastered version!
Since you can toggle encounters on and off, I think changing Diablo a bit would be in order. Maybe keep half (or get rid of it) but with Encounter None, replace that with "Encounter Rare" where it ups the rate for rarer monsters in the area (and also gives them a level boost).
No random encounters and 3x speed will cut down on the monotony for the people doing a challenge run like a lvl1 run. Though I would have appreciated a no XP modifier as well. Every re-release should have this from now on.
First Final Fantasy game I ever played honestly. I remember when my parents and I went into toys r us one year [RIP store of childhood wonder] for a crash bandicoot game. They were sadly out of it...but I saw this gem set in its case and something just caught my eye. It was this beauty, and with it's magical four discs I fell in love with the story, the characters and so much more. Heh I remember grinding for hours on T-Rexs and other baddies before heading off to get Ifirt. Good times good times; I took a small rest from the game after getting my rump royally handed to me by the final boss, her final form on the final disk. I booted up the system and went to check my memory card...and there was nothing. All my saves, each and everyone was gone.....I will admit I cried and haven't tried the game for a while...
Though September is absolutely packed for me in terms of game releases this is definitely a day one pick up, though i kind of hope (though i doubt it) somewhere down the line they would do a physical release for this game, having 8 on a cartridge even if they put it at full price is still a day one purchase for me ! Also Thank You for this video, i didn't know a good bit in terms of the changes so this was informative !
I feel like this game was the red headed step child of the Final Fantasy Series, I don’t know if 9 was treated worse or this but I know they had high expectations after 7, and X definitely brought them back. But ya I want them to remake final fantasy tactics but still have it be turn based just make the graphics amazing. Honestly I liked the turn based final fantasy games. I don’t care if people think it’s “boring”. I was never a WOW player and I grew up when it was huge in the mid 2000’s in college. So when my roommate bought me Final Fantasy XII for me and I hated that they turned it into that WOW style. Even though I liked Kingdom Hearts series, it’s just different. I don’t know maybe I’m dumb I just can’t deal with that live action having to make decisions with a hundred options.
One additional change: a number of the triple triad cards had their artwork changed slightly. For instance the MiniMog card now has a full-body shot of Mog, not just from the chest up.
My favourite game of all time, no doubt! Played it when I was around 10/11 years old and have played it through a few times since. The game was an important part of my childhood. Look forward to trying this out!
This is my first ever Final.Fantasy. it has huge sentimental value in my life and playing it again will be like seeing a best friend from the past. I have joined this re release rave on Ps4
Have been playing this remastered for a week on PS4. Very happy with it! The speed boost works through dialog sections and free roaming sections, so if you don't want to sit and wait for stuff, you can zip through it. It automatically cuts off on cut-scenes, so you don't have to switch it off to see some better graphic representations. Speed boost works through combat as well, so you can farm magic from weak enemies VERY quickly. God mode helps with that if you want to be real lazy, I just use it as a time saver for farming magic.
"Dad, why is a 20-year old game the most anticipated these last couple of months?" "Well son, let me tell you a beautiful story. Back in the day, there was a great man called Hironobu Sakaguchi, working for a company called Square and decided to make an RPG called Final Fantasy.............."
This is a beautiful comment. I like the newer final fantasy games but Christ the old ones always get me excited and for me it's not the nostalgia. The soundtracks and the stories always feel close to home. I could lose my memories and play the old final fantasy games again and still fall in love with everything presented.
Players: Complain about the soundtrack Me: Looks over at the 4 CD FF8 soundtrack sitting on my shelf. If anyone wants a copy and has friends in Tokyo ask them to look for it in Book-Off, they're sometimes there. Failing that, second hand games stores (no, my copy is not for sale, and never will be).
absolutely. when I first heard about the remaster I was so excited then found out it wasn't a physical release was so disappointed. personally I feel like they dropped the ball on this one.
The amount of disdain in the Final Fantasy community for this remaster is truly depressing. Yes things don't look the same, but that doesn't you should completely write it off. This hate for the new character models is ridiculous.
I started playing ff8 a few days ago, and I really fell in love with the game’s charm. While GFs pretty much make the combat easy af, the great characters and amazing music is what really made the game for me.
There will be an option for No Encounters. I wonder if Diablos will still have Enc-Half and Enc-None, though. I wonder if that option will work on the Deep Sea Research Center, where even when using Enc-Non you'd still face scripted random encounters.
@@ravenly8104 new players and casuals because that area was optional. FF8 is one of my favorites but that part is near game breaking. Once you get pass the scripted monsters, enc none works but you will lose out on AP trying to avoid being OHKOed by random monsters.
@@nathanlamont9920 you shouldnt need AP at that point anyway. Get all your AP on cactaur island where they give you more than any other enemy in the game. Also hell island to quickly hit max lvl due to leveling up at least once every battle.
i take it you didn't watch the presentation then, cuz the devs stated clearly that no source code was ever lost, but that in fact they were never sure how to remaster the game, whether to upgrade it to ps3 graphics or release it as it was(which they did) and then whether to rerelease it untouched or upgraded for ps4, with talk centered around a FF7Remake graphics overhaul for 8.
Ever since my childhood FF8 held a special place in my heart, and squall was my (albeit seriously flawed lol) role model when I was just a kid who had no Idea what was really going on In life. He helped me be strong and even chose my hair cut for my high school years. Now that I am 27 I cant help but always look back at the days of playing it on my PS7 as very fond memories. I would not be remotely the same right now If I had never played FF8, and Its still by far my favorite.
I preordered on PS4 as soon as I was able to. Mostly for the bonus of a theme. I can’t wait to beat this game again and hopefully go for the platinum trophy
This was instant pre-order for me. FF8 is one of my favorites (6 being my top). When this game came out, I was 18 at the time, and heavily identified with some of the themes in it. It's always held a special place in my heart (my one and only tattoo is from it) and I'm extremely excited for it.
I got this a few days ago and it's been so much fun to replay! I was 16 when I first played this almost 20 years ago. I even dug out my old walk through guides 😁 must say that the 3x option is brilliant when drawing magic...I also forgot how much I used to play triple triad as that is probably the best side game in any ff ever
- Visuals worse than FF 8 on Steam with mods - Music at best on par with FF 8 on Steam with mods - Less "optional features" (cheats) than for FF 8 on Steam, including no Chocobo World On PC, this will be a clear downgrade with no upsides. At best, with Cheat Engine and more mods, it will be on the same level as the previous Steam release. Good job, SquareEnix.
This is how I feel. I'm still on the fence on buying this game because I have the mods installed on my Steam FF8. I guess this is for the console gamers more than the PC. The modding community fixed the game years ago. The game would be worth it if it had extra story/content in the game that fleshed out the story more. Perhaps a post game story or more Luguna scenes.
It probably is for console mainly. I own the pc version, but never got around to modding it because I can't afford to replace my computer should I accidentally download the wrong thing (still scarred from Sims 1 mod era lol). Any suggestions? Honestly, I'm going to wait for the holidays and see if it goes on sale for ps4. I love the game, but I am not impressed by the changes they made.
@@Thesakuraharona There is no realistic way you can download the "wrong thing". Just download things from Steam forums/from the Steam guides that have multiple feedback and upvotes. They are all clean, basically "official" mods. No way you'll get any kind of malware when hundreds of people have used the same thing and it has been there, not-removed, in the forums, for years.
who needs cheats seriously why play with cheats at all ? the only one i think i would use is the -no encounter thing, and not to cheat, just to be able to save sooner. I remember falling to sleep so many times playing these games trying to find a save point and then OMG another random fight .. crap ...
Honestly speaking the best songs and themes of all the Final Fantasy come from this game. There are some really good ones in the other Final Fantasy but VIII wins the standing ovation by a mile. I pretty much remember every single song of every single area of this game...
Lol since when 8 has been up there with 7? Those are 6, 9, 4 and X. why do you think FF 8 wasnt available anywhere while all other FF games including 12 have receive a lot of attention? Because FF 8 SUCKS, thats why. I still gtting because it was my 1st FF and the OST kick ass and is pretty fun game to break, but stop with the nonsense of "The game is the greatest or is high there" because if that was the case then why took square so long?
How cool would it be if they put actual effort in and made him look like squall at least the original pixelated version had the same face. Square enix will do anything to cut a few corners.
@@raulrojas9253 VIII is vastly superior to X in every substantive way save battle system. Story, characters, and world blow it away. Easily a top five FF.
I always say to newcomers to start with FF10. The combat is turn-based and you don't have to rush your inputs. It still plays pretty much the same as the other titles and graphically it's aged the best. My personal favorite is FF8 since it was my first and that they are my favorite set of characters. I always liked how you never really knew where the story was going. I liked how unpredictable the plot was. I haven't played them all but I haven't played a final fantasy title that I haven't enjoyed.
The 3x speed and ability to turn off random encounters has made other RPGs that don't have these features unplayable now. I loved playing all the old FFs back in the day, but the random encounters did impact the fun factor for sure. Especially if you have to go somewhere and back multiple times for whatever reason, being able to do it at hyperspeed with no interruptions makes it so much better. Of all the classic FFs, 8 is the best for this too since you don't want to level up your characters too much.
Can we get a remaster of Chrono Cross? Einhander? Vagrant Story? Lawl NOPE! Because Square likely didn't bother archiving the source codes for those games.
Omg. 3 times speed would have been so helpful back in the day when I use to farm in that one Garden Hockey ice rink to level up abilities from the GFs. I love the no random encounter option to for exploring certain areas.
Alot of people on the steam forums are also complaing about the fact that they censored some characters like GF was given a skirt, Sophias shirt was button up, riohna has a extra tank top to cover her cleavage, ect.
Having now played the remaster I can say the 3x speed doesn't affect the cinematics, it along with the Battle Assist and No Random Battles are all implemented the same way as they were to the PS4 port of FF7, down to the icons and clicking in L3 and R3.
My very first JRPG and very first Final Fantasy game I've played and changed my mind from disliking (and now I can't even recall how I happened to dislike FF to begin with) to loving and getting addicted to Final Fantasy series and other famous series from Square-Enix (e.g. Dragon Quest, etc.). Even though 15-20 years have passed, I still feel like I have to look for and play FF8 again whenever I get to listen to its nostalgic background music (Balamb Garden's theme, Trabia Garden's theme, or Eyes on Me). Great work and I would love to express my ultimate gratitude to Square-Enix's founders, staff, and ex-staff members for making such great games and many lives of people (including mine) even more worth living with ultimate final fantasy worlds, battle experiences, grinding (YES, grinding is a must in FF), lessons, and memories.
Having never played 8 for more than the intro, I'm looking forward to it 20 years after it came out originally. Only main entry I've never beaten, besides 1-3 on NES. FFVIII has an epic soundtrack just like the others.
I won't be picking it up. Apparently they have censored some character models, like Rinoa and Siren. You can find the article at One Angry Gamer 's site. I know this won't affect the gameplay, but I don't condone ANY kind of censorship. So I'll be skipping this one.
@@coolguy02536 Oh no, my video game waifu, they covered up her pixel tits. You sound pathetic. It's a video game character, I bet you lost your shit over Tifa as well
Keeping original audio was, hands down,a marvellous choice. Remastering is bringing up to date, not completely recreating; a newly redone soundtrack would have been a gamble for sure.
@@lucaspressacco1107 I disagree. Firstly, most of the details mentioned in the video have no impact on the game experience save for the cheats. Secondly, a 15 FPS lock on the menus does indeed effect the game experience. Thirdly, he made a point of attempting to mention all the tiny details, so the 2 that I brought up were worth mentioning. I don't think he ignored them, rather, was probably just unaware of them.
@laharl sama I'm not sure I understand the question. I enjoy Final Fantasy VIII, I thought we were talking about "tiny details" here. Don't let your fanboyism blind you.
@laharl sama Well, someone's jimmies hath been rustled. I apologize for not ignorantly consuming every iota of media and liking them to your high standards...
HYPE IS REAL!!!! I've pre-ordered it for both PS4 and Switch, The only thing i'm slightly disappointed with and that's the non-inclusion of an arranged version of the soundtrack that we could change back and forth with the Original Soundtrack like FFX/X-2 HD Remaster on PS4/XB1.
Between ff7 remake reveals, getting addicted to dissidia nt, and this remaster, I'm so fascinated and super interested in playing through all ff games at some point! :) I love your vids to very good and interesting info

@@AzureIV I'm mainly just pushing to have the originals playable on PS4/Switch. A consistent art/graphical style across them all would be nice but that feels like a pipe dream. Just playing them officially on modern systems is my wish.
My two biggest questions: 1) Are the save game files the same format as before? In other words, can we still use Hyne on the PC to mod the save game files? 2) Have they fixed or changed the broken RNG that was in the original, which made it oh-so painful to try and get ridden of the random rule in Triple Triad, etc.?
Yeah the game definitely felt like it really only had an update to character/npc models. I would have liked a better looking world made especially now learning that they didn't have to original source code that they really could have rebuilt things. If they rebuilt the world map at least to PS2 level graphics I would have been happy and it would seem like ti would be the easiest thing to improve on the game. Also the backgrounds in the battles could use a decent face lift
Final Fantasy 8 was the second Final Fantasy game I play (Final Fantasy 7 was the first) but the first game from the series I managed to finish, eventhough it took me almost two years
You've talked me into it! I wasn't going to pick it up because as much as I wanted to play it again I didn't feel I had time. I didn't know about the Battle Assist and no random encounters, but with those I feel like I could find the time just to play through for the story :)
one cool thing for the game also is the enemies where all are unique designs, it's not the recolored version of a weaker enemy type of designs, there's lke 3 enemies that are reused from the aliens, the elvoret and probably a few more. Also that triple triad needs to have a solo version that's like released like card games from ESL, gwent and hearthstone, i'd like to play triple triad on smart phones than any of the gacha smart phone games ff have been producing
Kovu Lion I play Triple Triad everyday on the Final Fantasy Portal App. It’s solo vs computer mainly. The online function is basically impossible to use. But there’s hundreds or maybe over 1k cards right now. All from various FF’s. Plus, as a collector you don’t lose you cards when you lose. It be horrible if you did cuz the chances of getting the 5* cards back are super low. Anyways, check it out & good luck!

Final Fantasy 8 came out when I was 12 years old. I was having reading difficulties and this game pretty much cured them.
Awesome
That's awesome man
Sort of a same but opposite situation, I never had an ounce of trouble with homework and getting good grades in my early years, and I feel confident in crediting FF8 for that.
Ff7 played so much I was reading by the end of the summer

I agree, most definitely for Squall at least. I'm okay with everyone else.

The most important thing for me was the complete overhaul of the backgrounds. Thanks squenix for going the extra mile not just remaster the polygon characters. Thanks!! :D

i know right? bilinear and linear filtering? its like their using computers from the early 90's to make video games still.

So when my roommate bought me Final Fantasy XII for me and I hated that they turned it into that WOW style. Even though I liked Kingdom Hearts series, it’s just different.

- Visuals worse than FF 8 on Steam with mods
- Music at best on par with FF 8 on Steam with mods
- Less "optional features" (cheats) than for FF 8 on Steam, including no Chocobo World
On PC, this will be a clear downgrade with no upsides.

Lol since when 8 has been up there with 7? Those are 6, 9, 4 and X. why do you think FF 8 wasnt available anywhere while all other FF games including 12 have receive a lot of attention? Because FF 8 SUCKS, thats why. I still gtting because it was my 1st FF and the OST kick ass and is pretty fun game to break, but stop with the nonsense of "The game is the greatest or is high there" because if that was the case then why took square so long?
agreed. squall doesnt have the same perma angry scowl anymore.
Whoa, I literally just started playing the original Final Fantasy 8 today. Good timing. Can't wait to pick up the remaster.
@Blackwolf MGTOW Stop flirting with me.
FF8 will always be my favourite game of them all. I've played 7,8,9, and 13 but 8 just holds a special part as the main character hits close to home.
I have played all of them apart from the online ones, I still dont see the appeal about 7, ff6 and ff8 are easily the best
Play 10 broski. Its amazing
I'm in love with squall lionheart, his face, body, his characther so cool,i was even change my hair style like rinoa lol
My Favorite Final Fantasy this one and Final Fantasy 10
Same for me
I’d agree with that.
big same
I always say to newcomers to start with FF10.
7-10 is the golden era....can't go wrong with any of those 4 games.
Vagrant Story is my jam! I think a redux of this title is severely underrated.
Omg. 3 times speed would have been so helpful back in the day when I use to farm in that one Garden Hockey ice rink to level up abilities from the GFs. I love the no random encounter option to for exploring certain areas.
The fan-made images of Squall at 4:47. I can't stop laughing.
Alot of people on the steam forums are also complaing about the fact that they censored some characters like GF was given a skirt, Sophias shirt was button up, riohna has a extra tank top to cover her cleavage, ect.
There is one real reason why this FF really loves by a Lo people:
'QUISTIS"
& Squall stupidity is chose Rinoa than her!!!
Having now played the remaster I can say the 3x speed doesn't affect the cinematics, it along with the Battle Assist and No Random Battles are all implemented the same way as they were to the PS4 port of FF7, down to the icons and clicking in L3 and R3.
Thanks so much for the rundown! VIII will be the second Final Fantasy I ever play and I'm super excited.
What was your first?
@@davidgallagher28 I think my profile picture gives it away. ;)
Picked this up the 1st. Finished it Sunday.
So many memories mixed up in this game. The remaster looks good and played quite well on the PS4.
The biggest update is the engine changes: modders will probably have an easier time making it worth the price
They should of did a physical release. It would look good next to my ps1 copy!
Pour one out for pixelated bush and polygon titty. How will I cum now?
This is one of the stupidest reasons to not buy something. Covering up video game characters?
Jesus Christ
@@mattsmith8769 We're utterly overwhelmed by all the reasons you've given for calling random people "stupid" for not supporting random censorship.
A few tiny details you missed, and there's probably more: the Siren GF has been "censored" and the menus are locked at 15 frames per second.
Two changes that do not affect the game experience in any way, it's only logical he would ignore them.
@laharl sama Heh, hello pot - meet kettle. Yeah, you're most certainly rustled. Disgaea is dumb, butthurt fanboy.
Already preordered, 8 was my first and possibly favorite ff game I ever delved into. Cant wait to relive the nostalgia
Between ff7 remake reveals, getting addicted to dissidia nt, and this remaster, I'm so fascinated and super interested in playing through all ff games at some point! :) I love your vids to very good and interesting info
I'm jealous ..ff7 in 1997 is what introduced me to and loving jrpgs...having to wait for each new release easily memories that I will die with...for you to experience them all in HD and etc anytime you please...I'm envious! Lol
So when are we going to get Final Fantasy 6 remaster?
Or better yet, a Final Fantasy "Classic" collection? FF 1-6 spruced up and bundled together for modern systems?
No.. ff6 sucks
@@CaelanGames I mean, they did remaster FFIV into a 3d game.
@@AzureIV I'm mainly just pushing to have the originals playable on PS4/Switch. A consistent art/graphical style across them all would be nice but that feels like a pipe dream. Just playing them officially on modern systems is my wish.
There is already, for PC and MOBILE.😂
My two biggest questions: 1) Are the save game files the same format as before? In other words, can we still use Hyne on the PC to mod the save game files? 2) Have they fixed or changed the broken RNG that was in the original, which made it oh-so painful to try and get ridden of the random rule in Triple Triad, etc.?
How about those Salt Lake World Map textures? Some parts are definitely worse.
Final Fantasy 8 was the second Final Fantasy game I play (Final Fantasy 7 was the first) but the first game from the series I managed to finish, eventhough it took me almost two years
Keep up the amazing work guys and keep the amazing content coming
You've talked me into it! I wasn't going to pick it up because as much as I wanted to play it again I didn't feel I had time. I didn't know about the Battle Assist and no random encounters, but with those I feel like I could find the time just to play through for the story :)
I will of course this was my first ff soooo exided I hope that hurricane don’t turn off power here in Florida 😤
Agreed. Here in Georgia. Hoping for the best. Stay safe.
Thanks you too hope for the best 👍🏼
I'm in Florida too bro was thinking the same of not being able to play cause of Dorian
one cool thing for the game also is the enemies where all are unique designs, it's not the recolored version of a weaker enemy type of designs, there's lke 3 enemies that are reused from the aliens, the elvoret and probably a few more.
