    It is amazing that I found your video. I've just "burnt" my ECM Giotto. The fire/smoke literally came out of it. Yet to open it up to see what really happened inside. Probably the controller unit is burnt. I think I now will follow your instructions and try to fix/ upgrade it once in for all. Thank you for the detailed instructions and videos.

    Great job. If only I had a proper coffee machine and not a Dolce Gusto. I do use a refillable pod with my favourite brand though.

    This is amazing! No plans to join the Gaggiuino team? Would love to see a Gaggiuino solution for E61.

    • @technovelodos
      @technovelodos 6 місяців тому

      Agree, there is a lot of overlap with Gaggiuino. It has the advantage of offering pressure profiling which can make a huge difference to coffee flavour, as it reduces channeling at the end of shots when puck density is reduced.

    Too bad I come about your video after repairing a rocket with electronic issues. I was thinking about an Arduino project but since the defective machine is a friends machine I stick to original parts.. Great job Sir!

    The only change I made to my gaggia was the addition of a magnetically attached 100w PCB dimmer. I can choose anything from off with the solenoid closed for pre infusion up to the stock 15 bar if I wanted. I have been making coffee professionally for about 7 years so I just let the coffee tell me what it wants. I like this mod because it cost me €2.50 with shipping. However you do need a good grinder and precision basket to pull it off properly and now I have my €400 machine acting like €2000 machine. Although I do temp surf but that's easy.

      Big problem of Gaggia is a big loss of the water temperature when brewing. It can be fixed using PID controller or even better installing a gagguino which really makes a great coffee machine in the end (I have gone that way and am super happy with it).

    Amazing work - I'm going to do this in my Rocket E61 HX machine I just bought that has a dead controller. As set up with the parts you list on the website, will this work with US (120V) plugs or would anything need to be different?

    Such a nice build. Would be nice to be able to reverse everything when I want to sell my Rocket appartemento. For example by overrule and man in the middle the factory controller.

  • @thorsteneggert

    Awesome build. But do I get it right, you do not know or regulate the brew temp? I have a nice vintage machine with a heat exchanger and I miss the possibility to adjust the brew temp. It quite depends on how long it had been heating up and how many shots I take in a row.

    • @Schematix
      @Schematix  8 місяців тому +2

      Thanks. For most heat exchange machines (including mine) you're correct, the element is switched according to pressure. However, it would be pretty easy to add the option to control the element by temperature in smart coffee
