You won't find too many boulder fields like that in Wisconsin... The unique terrain (for this part of the country) makes Devil's Lake a popular destination for hikers and rock climbers. Yay! We haven't seen anything from you in awhile! Love that boardwalk trail in the beginning! Looks like a nice path to hike - with lots of lovely views of the lake! Wisconsin has some beautiful terrain! Loved the Wisconsin Conservation Corps sign - we find those organizations so incredibly interesting! The tumbled rock trail is awesome! Nice terrain - but I kept thinking "snake city!" Lol. Bird mound - never heard of that - but interesting! You have a great eye for shots Mike! Always a pleasure watching your journey! Hi Karen and Shannon! I spent most of July, and the early part of August, thru hiking the Long Trail, so I didn't have access to my computer and had pretty sporadic cell service... I'm finally starting to catch up with what's been going on in civilization 😂 Glad you enjoyed the scenery from Devil's Lake; it's surely one of my favorite places in Wisconsin (and I'm sure you'll be glad to know that venomous snakes are very rare in this area)! Hello! Thanks, as always, for taking the time to watch and for your kind words 🙂 Devil's Lake is one of my favorite Wisconsin State Parks, and it's definitely a family-friendly destination... In addition to the hiking trails, there's a beach, you can rent paddle boats to take out on the lake, and there's even an ice cream stand. The kids would probably love the nearby Wisconsin Dells, also!
As for the green caterpillar, I'm fairly certain it was a cankerworm... They produce their own little silk lines to dangle from, while they eat leaves. Thanks again, and hope you're having a great weekend!

I think the 2nd and 3rd overlooks were my favorite of the trip. Enjoyed the hike. Take Care!
I have a hard time picking a favorite spot in this park, but I'm glad to be able to highlight a few of the choice overlooks and let folks decide for themselves which is the best view 👍 Glad to know you enjoyed the hike, and I really appreciate you taking the time to check it out!

Looked a real nice place to take a hike, great scenery and a great trail as well, loved the boardwalk at the end but not as keen on that bolder field, I would not fancy walking over that, cheers Alan

Looks like a beautiful area! Those were some nice view points from the climb in the beginning. Cool to see all of the large rocks down by the lake and throughout the climb. That forest looks very lush! Great job with the video!

Well that looked like fun :) Nothing like a redemption trip! I can definitely relate to being 'left behind' while filming - and then having to race to catch up. So funny... Mason does exactly the same thing as Mick with the back-and-forth between people on the trail. He just likes to know where everyone is... while simultaneously avoiding the camera every time I point it at him :p.

The paved rocks trail looks neat that you can walk through all those rocks and not have to scramble them.
The Tumbled Rocks Trail offers some excellent views of the lake and the rocky slopes but is definitely a family-friendly option! Thanks for taking the time to follow along!

Let's take a look at the West Bluff and Dribble Rock Trail course, Wisconsin's best hiking, for the last part of the series at Devil's Lake State Park in Wisconsin

How difficult is the climb to the top of the west bluff? I’m going to pop the question there and just need to know what kind of a climb I’m going to put her through
Congratulations!!! I always find these types of questions a little difficult because the answer depends on things like fitness level and hiking experience. With that said, the West Bluff is a couple hundred feet of elevation gain. It's definitely easier than the East Bluff, and the climb is less steep from the South Shore. If I had to put a rating on it, I'd probably say the East Bluff is on the harder side of "moderate" hikes, and the West Bluff is on the easier side of "moderate." Hope that helps and that you have an awesome and memorable day! ✌️
