Since you've started the Universal Monsters meet Abbott & Costello you should go ahead and finish it up with ' Meet Jekyll and Hyde ' and ' Meet The Mummy '. Both are great but my personal favorite is ' Meet The Creature From The Black Lagoon ' . Be sure to cap it off with ' Meet The Killer Boris Karloff '. That period in cinema has many stars doing haunted house type stories like Bob Hope and Bing Crosby among others, but Bud and Lou had a fantastic hit when they did it in ' Hold That Ghost '. Have fun with the movies from this era. I'm really glad your taking the time to enjoy them. So many don't bother with these films anymore. It's a shame really. Till next time ✌️

Nice, forgot to mention in the last video, Who Done It, 1942, is also a good one. They really get their cardio in 😆

Last time, I said that I liked this the best of the “A&C Meet” movies when I saw them as a kid in the 1960s. However, based on your reactions and comments, you have convinced me that “A&C Meet Frankenstein” is the better movie. I think my youthful preference for this was because I always loved the comedic possibilities of invisibility in particular.
BTW, I had forgotten that this also had two notable character actors, William Frawley as the detective, and Sheldon Leonard as a hood. Frawley is best remembered for his regular role on “I Love Lucy” and as the judge’s political advisor in “Miracle on 34th Street.” I didn’t get a good look at Leonard, but I recognized his distinctive voice. He played many heavies in those days, as well as the bartender in “It’s a Wonderful Life,” before he became a big producer of TV shows.

A&C were the most popular comedy duo and highest paid entertainers in the world in the 1940s. By the end of the 40s their popularity had dropped but was revitalized by "Meet Frankenstein" in the 50's. Even with this boost their style of humor fell out of favor and Universal dropped the comedy team in 1955. They formally dissolved their partnership in 1957.

Highest paid entertainers is wild! Huh, I'd have imagined the release of their pictures after the Universal monster pictures would actually work ...

This one is okay, but as far as their "scare comedies" are concerned, they have better ones. Hold That Ghost, Abbott & Costello Meet The Mummy, Abbott & Costello Meet The Killer Boris Karloff and The Time of Their Lives are some very good films of theirs. The last one isn't really a scare comedy, but Costello is a ghost in it.
