i grew up in a miningsite BC-MCO mining co. to be exact ... anyway every time i go to school me and my friends ran at the school backyard and watch this Machines start ...hearing the engines make a unique sound .. you can even hear it a mile away .. and my friends would try to guess what number that truck is... the mining have like 30 euclid's
I thought these used compressed air to start. My parents are in Mining in Northern Canada - Yukon to be specific. They used to work in a town called Faro, open pit lead-zinc and they used euclids that were started off of compressed air - There wasn't an electric starter strong enough to turn them over.
my late father drove one of these up until he died of cancer in 2006, now i want to do the same thing i have a class b cdl license, does anyone know if a class b is what you need to get a job at a quarry ? or to operate one of these?
Mr. J sorry to hear about your dad It makes me sad to hear that let's hope he rest in peace good luck To you I hope one day you will follow in his foot steps in driving one of those euclid dump trucks Peace my man
Mr. J+ sorry about your dad and sorry I'm 6 years late, but you don't need a cdl of any kind to drive off road trucks. I'm sure you figured that out by now and I hope you're doing well driving one of these trucks.
love the start sound of haul trucks.
I love how you use a ladder to get up to the drivers seat. :)

Yes.
Beauty. Is it the Cummins KT38C or KTA38C engined version?. My old man worked on Euc's back in the 60's. Magical.

Nothing sounds like a v16 Detroit...guess they like Cummins
From my experience, I have not heard many great things about Detroits. Most coal operators I've been around prefer Cummins
Id rather drive a detroit because i appreciate the tons of years of effort and design put into them.
so what's the daily carry items for these guys with one of my dream jobs? A lunch box, thermos, water jug, and piss bottle?
nice video
Some were air start some were electric
detroit engine?
