I really liked this bike in person, the redesign was going back to its roots, an endurance bike just having a taller headtube and shorter reach and making the seat post comfortable for the rider, I think these bikes are a great option for a 1 bike to rule them all features.
Mounting the battery in the downtube has a number of advantages 1. Stiffer frame tube that's not going to flex and bend the battery, and the battery isn't going to interfere with the flex of the seatpost 2. Lower center of gravity feels better. 3. Ease of adjustment and less chance of breaking wires

After three months my rear tire started to develop a bulge on the sidewall. Trek shop warrantied them and admitted that I was no alone and this was clearly a factory defect. Anyway ended up going with the Conti5000 TR 32mm tires and to my surprise comfort and speed improved noticeably

Huge fan of your Channel, thanks for all you do. I bought this bike 8 weeks ago, but the SL6 Gen 4 version with the 105 Di2. It lasted 2 rides before the Isospeed malfunctioned. It was making that cracking, popping, clicking noise. It's true what they're saying about the SL and SLR6 Gen 4 Isospeed issues. My LBS told me that it had a cracked housing and they couldn't repair it, even after all the recommendations from Trek corporate. They had to warranty the frame. I ordered the Domane SLR 7 Gen 4 to replace this (Carbon Smoke/Prismatic Marble colorway) but during the wait, fell in love with the Madone SLR 7 Gen 8 and ended up exchanging the Domane for that. My new Madone will be built and ready for pick-up today. Having ridden both, the Domane is great and does everything you need it to do. But the new Madone does all that, too, but does it faster without losing comfort. Most importantly, it's a smoother and more responsive climber than the Domane. But if you're just a casual rider, either bike will do the job. Thanks again for the review!
I’ve been riding a 2017 Domane SL on everything from short and fast group rides to centuries and everything in between, also Olympic and sprint triathlons. I’m enjoying the bike so far ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
All looks good but.... I just wiiiiiish Trek can make a bike which doesn't creak and rattle... I have a 2021Trek Émonda SL 6 Disc which I am going to dump in the bin this winter (well... sell really), absolute hopeless bikes! no more Trek for me thanks!
really??? u sure it is not the shop that can fix it, I know a bunch of customers who are riding them and they love them and they feel very sound, might just need a different shop to give it a once through and make sure everything is greased and also tighten down to torque
UNPOPULAR OPINION: there’s nothing revolutionary about this Domane. Endurance bike with hidden cables that doesn’t require technology like IsoSpeed but relies more on tyres? Well, Giant did that with their Defy many years ago. Domane triumphs the Defy only with the hidden compartment for that, I give them credit, Don’t get me wrong. I love Trek. But I think they are just getting lazy 🙁 step up, Trek!
What else would you want it to do? At the end of the day it’s still a bike! And it’s always gonna be a sport where your on a thin seat for a long period of time putting out max effort. It’s meant to be a little bit uncomfortable. Your not suppose to be on a bike and feel like a lazy boy chair. And if they added way too much proprietary stuff people would shit brick and say it’s not needed and a gimmick.
@@GCPerformance18 yea but that’s not a very Trek thing to do. Trek has always had their own way of doing things. Let’s name a few recent ones 👇 BB90, seat mast, IsoSpeed, IsoFlow. That’s the ‘Trek way.’ Being different. You only get these from Trek for better or worse and this is the enjoyment of owning a Trek. Then comes this Domane which contradicts the Way of Trek if such a thing even exists. Get what I’m trying to get at? As I’ve mentioned in my previous comment. It’s another Defy but made by Trek 🙁
I rode a Defy yesterday and then went to the Trek store and rode the Gen 4 Domane SLR. The Trek rode way better ...and I was not predisposed to believe that since the Defy is a lot more affordable. Based on ride quality and everything else, I would choose the Gen 4 Domane SLR every time. For the record, I liked the Defy Pro a lot. I loved the Trek in back to back test rides ..in my size.

Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
I guess for 8500 they will sell like cupcakes.
easily lol
Nobody rides Domane on TdF man. Nice bike tho, heavy and handles like a pig compared to Emonda but for one bike only-good.
Of course not. No one rides any endurance bikes on the tour anymore. They are only brought out for the Paris ROUBAIX and that’s all lol
No one rides and Edmonds either so not sure where you got that from. That bike will be obsolete.
500 euro for a secondhand rimbrake version.
Same weight. Better fork.
yea I mean that is a steal of a deal
All looks good but.... I just wiiiiiish Trek can make a bike which doesn't creak and rattle... I have a 2021Trek Émonda SL 6 Disc which I am going to dump in the bin this winter (well... sell really), absolute hopeless bikes! no more Trek for me thanks!
really??? u sure it is not the shop that can fix it, I know a bunch of customers who are riding them and they love them and they feel very sound, might just need a different shop to give it a once through and make sure everything is greased and also tighten down to torque
I’ve been riding Trek carbon road bikes since 1997, whatever issues you have can be fixed by proper mechanics.
UNPOPULAR OPINION: there’s nothing revolutionary about this Domane.
Endurance bike with hidden cables that doesn’t require technology like IsoSpeed but relies more on tyres? Well, Giant did that with their Defy many years ago.
Domane triumphs the Defy only with the hidden compartment for that, I give them credit,
Don’t get me wrong.
Let’s name a few recent ones 👇
BB90, seat mast, IsoSpeed, IsoFlow.
Just buy 2016 Madone H2 geometry. Here, I saved you 5k.
nopeeeee
$8,000 disposable toy, With Ultegra...LOL
At least it says trek
No.
it is a great option buut now that canyon endurance bike came out and it is super nice!!
No it’s a tank total crap
$8K?! I would rather send my kids to college or buy a used car. Ridiculous amount of money for a bike
