  • A different type of haul video where (...yes I show the books, but also...) I try to focus on tips for collectors in the current back-issue market for Silver Age Marvel. You asked for more of this type of video, So here it is. Keep the comments coming people. To me, 1 good comment is worth 10 subs.

Very cool video! Those books are worth 5x now. I’m sure you are glad you pulled the trigger on those old silver age books.

I used to just pick up whatever but the past year or so I've been really trying to get more silver age books and am personally falling in love with silver age books. Thank you for the tips too!

Awesome video! Very informative! I agree completely with you on the Keys in lower grades. As long as they present well. Keep it up.

+Alex Meredith Thanks, glad you enjoyed. Low grade works just fine for me most times :)

Great point about a lower grade because of a damaged back cover. My Spider-Man 14 graded at 2.5 looks worse on the front cover compared to your FF #10 graded at 2.0. A slightly loose page can greatly lower the grade! But who cares if the book is slabbed! I will be very happy with a low grade book with a presentable front cover and not at all concerned about the back cover!

TOS 59 is such an iconic cover and a great book in general. That's a worthy grail, imo. Glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for the kind words.

Really enjoyed this vid. Totally agree with you regarding the notion of not minding the low grade when the cover presents well!

Peter Gkow Thanks, ya I have many books that grade lower than they would first appear to. Another hidden bonus of those types of books is they also sell well once you break them out of the slabs, because they present higher than their actual grade and people on ebay tend to pay more based off of the looks than the actual deserved grade.

Just came across your channel. Nice. I have recently started getting slabbed ASM silver agers. I try to get mid grade slabs but I know as I get lower in the issue numbers that I will get lower in the slab grades. My lowest issue is ASM 12 at cgc 6.0. The slabs make me feel better about knowing what I am buying. It is hard to tell on ebay. ASM 13 would be a sweet get for me.

I hear, ya, some, like slabs. I"m not one of those people, but they do have their merit. Good luck on the ASM 13!

A classic video with almost 9,000 views! I love you views on "Presentable", lower grade books as they are MY views as well! I have an FF#17, which looks like a 7.0 from the front, but it has a tear of 2 inches on the BACK cover, so CGC graded it a 4.0? I'll take 'em all day long like that! How is your collecting going these days? Are you still buying back issues, or has that slowed a bit? I go through phases, sometimes for years at a time when I buy little or nothing...but then I start back up again. Do you know what I mean?

AFTA Comics howdy. Ya I’ve slowed down but definitely still making pickups. Golden age mostly. Back cover damage all day every day whenever I can . Ha!

I'm a pretty tough grader, but that FF#10 looks like the best 2.0 I've ever seen! It looks much nicer.

Hey Garry, ya, it was definitely a "looks better" book. I can't remember what is wrong with it...I think it has major spine roll and might even have a big piece missing from the back, if I'm remembering right? Haven't looked at that book in a quite a while. Ah hell, now I'm gonna have to go pull it out, can't resist. lol

I really like the fact that you collect for the sheer love of the hobby and look for books that really present well which they do. Nice haul!

messedupdude11 Thanks man, ya I tend to look for those that present better than their grade. It feels like cheating when it comes to price ;)

What were the defects with FF #11 to make it a 2.0? Looks okay. My FF #1 is a CGC 3.0 it has great eye appeal and I cannot work out what they didn't like about it. Overall I love their grading, I purchased a TOS # 46 in 5.0 that looks like a gleaming 7.0 (has a tiny moisture stain). Value for money that is hard to get when buying raw from dealers!

sometimes I hate watching these videos bc I'm so jelly. My wife gets mad everytime she gets home and there is a usps package at the front door. I can't wait til the day I can drop some serious dough and get some of the keys I've been dying for. Daredevil 1, spidey 50, Daredevil 121 even.

Thanks for the kind words. Patience pays off, but this is definitely one of the bigger hauls I have had. It did not come cheap . There are plenty of others whose hauls I get jealous of too -- so it's fun for me to hear that others get "jelly" watching a haul of mine -- Later on

You can NOT judge why these books are graded the way they based on the front and back covers alone. Every single page in between those covers is taken into account when graded. That’s really misguided

      @thecomicspreacher3547  6 років тому +1

Been a WHILE since I recorded this video -- can't remember which book(s) you would be referring to with this comment. But, in short: graders notes?
