I am glad I stayed until the very end when he brought out his pocket clarinet! That lit up my heart!

Went to an 1½h lecture with him recently during the Science Festival (Vetenskapsfestivalen) in Göteborg, Sweden, and it was incredibly good and not at all difficult to understand.

He argues that children shouldn't use a digital device until they are 18 (19:50). I watched this on my laptop connected to the internet using wifi. I don't think that the sky is falling. Yes, technology changes the way we learn. Who advocates for not learning to read because it damages a child's eyesight. Who wouldn't argue for moderation in computer use? If Herr Prof Dr Spitzer argued moderation he wouldn't sell a book or appear on a TV program. Germany industry has a lot to lose in the digital age and Germans worry a lot.

You missed the point he made totally! It is about that using a computer too early for "learning" is an impediment to learning and it interferes with the ability to learn. And you do not look exactly under 18! No, technology does NOT change how we learn. How we learn is hard wired into the brain!

The problem is that your short term memory is developing more because you see thousands of unnecessary information on the internet, and because of that your long term memory atrophy. This is because your brain knows that all that information you saw on the internet will never be used, this is why we have people that can't concentrate more than two seconds.
Couple of my friends tell me things I told them yesterday, and they can't remember that I was the one who told them those things.

Not really after 15 kids should use computer. I know a Ph family they do financial. They r training 3 kids n let them use computer n ipad so early to learn math. Their boy 15 is master can trade stock n his knowledge ab finance is as an adult. Depend on ur children use computer for what reason (learn or game) of cos reding is always the best way. Even Bill Gate who let their kids use ipad n computer lately too.
