Listened to this last night along with a new piece by an HK composer and Tchaikovsky violin concerto played by Ehnes, and it was really nice! I think my favourite moment (alongside the entirety of the second movement) is the coda, when B-flat keeps trying to establish itself but E naturals keep getting played until it finally lands on B-flat major. I wasn’t seated in the best position to really hear how mighty it was, but it was really nice
I heard two recordings of this masterpiece: Bernstein’s and Ormandy’s. For me, the Ormandy recording has a slight edge though both Conductors play the Scherzo equally well.
Uraltische Verschiedenheit zwischen Byzantium und die mehr West, es hatte ein Effekt in moderne Era auch; ein bisschen mehr eines Springen, an Verstand, mit Russland und Umgebungen hier...
So sorry, but the solo clarinet's sound and style is just not good....really clipped and dry, never soars....where's the line? If this is who I think it is, I guess he is just trying to play like his last name!

@OolongHalfSugarLessIce Glad I can be of assistance! From one former high school student to the current, might as well help any way I can!
@OolongHalfSugarLessIce I’m a college freshman! Never made state, closest I got was one chair away from area.
@OolongHalfSugarLessIce Ha! The best I ever got in region was 11th chair in the Symphony, but you’ve got a pretty good chance if I say so myself!
These are the same cuts that will be played at state recordings right?
“Prokofiev’s Fifth”: One of the most serious and mature works ever composed by a human being.
But less than Bruckner 8
One of the best symphonies EVER composed! Genius

It has "Op. 100", of course. All works of Prokofiev are genius and this one is a very, very rare gem!

The ending seems to be a direct quote of Rimsky Korsakov's Schecherezade?
Please explain? I couldn't hear any resemblance to Scheherazade...

I understand they have a new principal clar since this recording was made....bravo!
