Can we just talk about everything else under the covers in there??
@P0IS0N this, it's such a rare but incredible machine
Damn that collection is worth a lot of money. What a place. That mk1 on the lift is just beautiful
The RS2000s, the GT, the Escort and the Supervan 😍
That gt 😍
thomas thomasman
cosi wo nice tho
Those seats and steering wheel are pure early 2000's tuner
Don't forget blue piping under the bonnet..
@@SINIS0RSA silicone hoses are still a thing
Pretty sure that was the idea.
You do know that this car is from the early 2000s
The car is an 03 plate
Why are the Ford people allowed to be more creative in Europe and not here in the states?
these ford people were in europe mate
Americans only buy crossovers of a very specific shape
How do you think the new GT came about?
Welcome To The Madness ...........I’ve always thought that the mods to American Fords are very creative, like a Shelby Mustang or a Raptor F150- those are really specialised modifications which you can actually buy in the USA .
Because we buy hot hatches and normal cars here in europe. Still. Not only suvs and trucks.
I don't know what Ford engineers are sniffing, but keep doing it, we need more crazy cars.
Have you seen the Super van in the background at 1:28? That's been through 3 transformations and currently uses a Cosworth F1 Engine, V10
I am guessing they are sniffing petrol given the contents of that shed.
Transit Connects are all over America with 2.0 petrol engines, can’t be too hard finding a crashed Focus St to use as a donor for a swap 🤔
Stolen ones are easier to find over here in the UK
Ehhhhhh, way too much work.
Just boost the duratec in the van with an off the shelf proven kit from @fswerks and make 260+whp.
With factory reliability to boot.
Or that yeah good idea
you didn't get the MK2 ST over in the states though?
james may the transit connects here in the States have the 2.0 mazda/ford duratec lump
someone I used to know did the same sort of thing in the 90s - used the engine and running gear from a written off Escort Cosworth and rebuilt it in an Escort van. Was probably the ultimate sleeper around here at that time.
As a Fiesta ST owner who has a job where i need to carry tools this would have been my perfect car.
how big are the tools? My FiST fits all kinds of stuff with the seats down! :)
You could always panel up the back windows and make a Fiesta van like in the 80's and 90's
There's also a Fiesta Van. It's a Fiesta without rear seats and rear windows and a small cargo space there instead. Quite neat, similar to a few other small vans from other manufacturers. Imagine an ST version of that thing. Should be fairly simple to pull off.

I thought they'd stop making them when the van in the video was built, they definitely don't make a Focus van, unlike the Escort van, used to see loads of RS Escort vans, with the whole back full of 18" inch subs and Rockford fosgate amps, back in the 90's.
I know what you mean. Between the girlfriends ND Miata and newfound woodworking hobby and my 91 MR2 it's a bit rough to even make Costco runs. I really don't want a truck or SUV. I was looking at Subaru Bajas, Honda Elements, Ford Transit Connects, and I'm currently looking at Mazda5s. Would be nice for junkyard dives and those Costco and lumber runs.
Note to Ford: build the Transit Connect ST, bring it HERE, TO AMERICA, and sell them. And while you're at it, give us the Transit Connect X-Press as well. PLEASE.😁
I would daily this
Edit: Ok I've watched the full video. I woulde daily the new one..
OOH! I spy the supervan at the back! Y'all mind reviewing that too? xD
The Supervan 3 is something that’s not reported on often, I would love for them to do it.
This thing looks better than the new Supra
And the fastest vans are Royal Mail vans,
Its not supposed to be velvet. It’s a flocked dash used to reduce glare.
He said it feels velvety. Flocking feels more like a soft sandpaper because it's made of plastic fibers. It's most likely suede, people confuse suede & alcantara with velvet all the time.
@@shona5512He clearly didnt know what Flocking was and its purpose. Sad
Now I want a Transit van with a RS drivetrain ... (then you showed the Transit ST) my life is complete
The transit is sold with the 3.5 ecoboost V6 in the US.. a livernois stage 3 tune gives that engine upward of 400hp..
If they made this electricians would be shitting there pants to get this ford would sell thousands 😁
Exactly. Thousands. Two at most.
It's actually true that vans are among the fastest vehicles on the road.
You see something coming up fast from behind, swoosh it have passed you faster than you can blink and it dissapears in a blur. You're like, ah must have been an electrician.... :D
It doesn't matter if you have a supercar, you just can't keep up with these guys.
Van drivers are among the biggest assholes on the road. Not to categorise or generalise, but van drivers are often in a hurry, which leads them to being impatient and a tad reckless.
Why has nobody picked up the fact that he has given out false information? Those ‘chunky leather recaros’ are in fact retrimmed SPARCO seats lifted out of the mk1 focus RS.
tyler5796 thank fuck it wasn’t just me mate👍🏻
I think "Recaro" is synonymous with "bucket seats" sometimes. Also the newer focuses (focii?) Both had Recaro seats so maybe it's just a mistake on his part.
Cause no one really cares mate
Polinht Typically i like to watch interesting or factual content. This was then neither. Each to their own i suppose.
Would buy. Would daily.
Totally
I’d trade my st for it
did you say lommel in germany? (where also the biggest ford europe testing facility is)? because that is very much in Belgium
And now Alex is very much banned from there.
Lommel is in Belgium by the way ;-)
Ik dacht juist hetzelfde :p
I got to drive a Zafira VXR quite a while ago and I hate to admit, but damn that was a great time
I've wanted to do that ST swap so bad! Didn't know it was done. Need it!!!
The red escort Mexico under the wraps tho 😍😍
I thought I was the only person who remembered the Connect RS. Good stuff.
From where do U know it?
They should make an Escape RS. I'd like that.
They've got one called the escape sport, my family has one. It's got a 250 horsepower turbo 2 liter, it's a fun little suv. I agree though, they should definitely stuff the new focus RS engine with over 300 horsepower in there in some sort of special edition
I'm pretty sure the velvet he's describing, is flocking like you'd find inside a race/rally car.
Well, Ford America wants to make ST versions of all their cars, so maybe there's hope yet. Ford, if you see this, please build it! I will buy one!
Ranger90 Ford America don’t sell cars (except for the mustang) now. It’s all trucks
The transit supervan sitting in the corner watching over like a proud dad
Please. Can someone explain to me why there are cool rigs in Europe and crap with automatic transmissions in Canada? I need one of these for my plumbing service van. Something cool
Bald Richard Hammond?
Matthew Patterson Richard’s bald cousin?
He sounds like Alex from car throttle
Nope. Too tall.
Great item....but you must return and demand a go in the transit behind....please
I had an XR3i van in the 90's :)
My dream is to drive one of these around the country with a dirt bike in the back.
If I was small contractor in the U.K. I would have own something like this!
When ford of Europe puts a stick in a van st but ford america cant even do that in their edge st
Edit: I put escape instead of edge
Europe demands a manual box as a standard option usually. Some vehicles are coming with semi-auto as standard now but it's usually limited to hyper-hatches and supercars. Unless Electric cars take over entirely the manual box wont die off in UK (or Europe)
There's no such thing as an Escape ST though...
@@ALMX5DP thank you for the correction
Alan Bowers ...guess what was released today at the Detroit auto show
Thomas Rodrigue an Explorer ST?
Yeah baby Yeah.
Would love that white connect
Ooh supervan, let’s have a head to head with that and Justin laws XJ220 transit.
Am I crazy by saying that the transit connect is a good looking car?
What about tuning the Transit Connect that already comes with the 1.6 Ecoboost from factory?
The current power plant offering in the States is a slug. I can't get out of it's own way getting on the Freeway with the AC on (had to turn off while test driving) Ford needs to produce a Turbo 4 or at least up the HP. I have the need for a "Mini" van.
Scootosan That's why I didn't buy one when looking for another work van. I've had a great run with my '08 Uplander 3.9 V6. It's been surprisingly reliable with enough cargo room and is very punchy and responsive with engine and tranny tune upgrades. I also recently bought an 06 Rav4 Sport V6 for backup work duty. Its really a bit too small but i couldnt pass up such a fairly quick little suv lol
They HAD the 1.6 turbo available for a little while but I don't think you can still get it.
I didn't know Adrian Edmundson was reviewing vans these days!
So cool!!! Both of them.
Totally random question.....where did you get that jacket? I really like it.
Great things those hot vans. You might like to investigate the hot vans and cars made by Ford and GM for the Police and military undercover units in the 1980’s. That would be an interesting video!
Would love to have the st version for my daily driver..
It's amazing some of the picturesque locations you guys get to drive through! ;-)
Also, are we just not going to mention the SuperVan 3 sat in the background?
Has Alex come back to Carfection?
This isn't new, Ford did a mk IV Ford Transit Rally Van in 2000.
Can anyone tell me what wheels this thing has I love em
This is a neat van i think im more interested in the van at 1:26. Anybody? This van would be alot more interesting if it had a swap out of a brand new rs.
X on the rev counter?
Love it!!!
Wait.... Ford built a Supervan long ago, so this isn't a new concept for them.
I Hope they give the next Generation an st/rs version!
Why left hand drive
Lommel is in Belgium, it drove around at the Proving Grounds in Lommel
I'd still choose the focus rs van..... It's a van, it's supposed to be rough and fun..... Looks right size too..... Y don't they make that again in place of the half ton bakkie?
Not much horsepower in it. A 2019 ford transit connect has a 180 horsepower 4 cylinder and if you give a tune it could get 230 horsepower in it. So yeah either gen 1 rs swap or tune the ecu in a 2019 connect.
If you love stuff like this head over to transit connected on Facebook loads of these vans been done and transit connect modified where toucan find pickup and loads of other ideas.
There closed groups that’s why I can’t add a link sorry
My old place of employment had one of these, and i hated driving it. Ide rather drive the town and country. Ive always thought that if it had focus st running gear, it would be an amazing vehice. Ide considder buying one as a fun to drive daily that could haul my dirtbikes around. So its really cool to actually see someone do this conversion, maybe one day we will get a production hot hatch and light duty van love child from the factory.
Like to see one with the RS500 engine and awd!
Peter Ökvist The did one called the Supervan which had a few different engines. The Supervan 3 which can be seen in the background of this video (1:29) currently has a Cosworth-Ford V8 I believe.
Please, not 'velvet' - it's called a 'flocked' dashboard. Normal to do on rallycars, as it drastically dampens reflected sunlight. =)
To correct you, the fastest car isn't just any van. It's the actual Transit. Nothing ever came close to it in matter of road behaviour and capability.
So made in Essex and English registered but left hand drive. Someone in development fucked up wouldn’t you say!
fantastic,.. in few words my dream come true.. I have a 2016 and would love to do this
I’d buy that
They can make a st van, but they can’t make an ST Fusion?
We need to see more of that building. SUPERVAN!! We have a Connect at work. I always thought it would be so less awful with a set of wider wheels off a Focus.
Man I want these, but in RWD.
Should've been called the EXP-RS
WOOP WOOP 👍👍👍 Nice cars 😍
Man English man😂Ahh a 4 cylinder is so fast ☹️😱😱 try a V8 dude
We visited the Heritage Collection a couple of years back, superb way to spend the day. What a collection!
I can't see why it's not as common for the Ford guys to throw the 2.0T or 2.5T engines in transit connects, as it is for the Volkswagen guy's to throw 1.8Ts & VR6s into their caddy vans.
A few years ago a was a transit connect with an rs cosworth engine and 4wd drive train it was Fucking cool
Ford has always made cool cars......in Europe.
Wow but hop not like kangoo van difficult to find spare part ....
So if you're borrowing the van your dad rented, you're the fastest on the road?
That dash isnt velvet. its Flocked
In the states we have the full size transit with a 350hp ecoboost V6
GM did it....HHR SS - 150+ mph later....they didn't market it, and some of us were lucky to have experienced them ; )
I drive one of these for work and it's already kinda fun imagine this shit
ALL YOU FORZA HORIZON TRANSIT CONNECT VAN DRIFTERS, YOUR CHARIOT EXISTS
Brilliant! How about a groupt test with these two plus the XJ220-engined Transit? That would be interesting!!!
1:27 Screw that, I wanna see the Supervan on some empty b-roads!
3:38 Such a crap window tint job! 😂
Guys, here is the truth uk.motor1.com/news/301316/ford-focus-rs-engine-transit-connect/
stuff that would otherwise go to the crusher?.give it to me please ford.
literally a sleeper car
This is basically a baby Ford Supervan.
Ford S-Max 2.5T would like to have a word with you.
Trac control off and it stops Torq steering by 70%!
now you need is the matching carro to this van
You should be in top gear
Would like to see my car rebuilt again from factory, brand new, a come back type of thing, come on ford let’s do an escort Rs turbo series one again!!!
With a tweak 😬
would be allot more interesting seeing the mk1 rs engine shoehorned into an xr2 , plus who would actually want a fast van , all your building/painting gear would be everywhere haha
We have a few transit connects at work, two are the 1.6 ecoboost, and they actually are entertaining to drive. Surprisingly tossable, especially for its height.
The other ones have a 2.5 n/a. That engine is also the base engine in the Fusion and Escape. Both of those also have a 2.0t ecoboost. I wonder how easy the swap would actually be? I just figure it'd be a lot cheaper and easier to source an engine from one of those instead of a focus ST.
Did the brothers from chroleystreet garage make 2 of them ?
Instead of calling a focus van... call it a Transit RS
