  • In short, Alinghi Red Bull Racing looked bang on point today in Barcelona on a three-hour training run. The afternoon breeze, despite being persistently shifty, stayed in the region of 10-12 knots, allowing the sailors to dial in their pre-sets, concentrate on the flight, and start to open up the throttles on what looked like an incredibly potent AC75 platform with a ton of soon-to-be and being realised potential.

Dalle immagini si vede che i foil e le appendici lavorano molto bene sollevando poca acqua e poca turbolenza. Complimenti!

Blade Runner was not mentioned. Like 2001 it influenced hundreds of films ever after.

those interviews are pointless because the guys don't share anything relevant.... just vague words

This boat struggles to sail consistently close to the water. Ineos looked better on their first day. It is practice and only the race counts, but so far it has been disappointing.

Are we watching the same video ? They look pretty sleek and stable to me.

@@JulienBorrel look high high off the water it is. they need to be right down on the water without being in the water. Now watch the very first day of Ineos and any day of the Kiwis. no gap.

@@erikwellerweller8623 just watched it. Not sure these design aim for the same sailing mode (high/low). Alinghi looks pretty elegant with a very optimized aero pack. BR3 is (to me) utterly ugly and unrefined. Boy it is bulky ! But who knows, sometime ugly boats performs better !

@@JulienBorrellook how well a bulky boat worked out for ETNZ in San Francisco.. if I had a spare $100 I certainly wouldn't bet on the British

@@erikwellerweller8623 There is no question that INEOS sailed much better on the first day, which took me by surprise. Now, this is entirely my opinion, but since the Brit's LEQ12 DNA was directly transferred into the design objectives of their AC75 and we see a clear fruition of that evolutionary process, they don't need to undergo a steep habituation period with their AC75 versus Alinghi, which underwent a radical departure in the design philosophy compared to their boat zero _(Te Aihe)._ Alinghi jumped from a first-generation boat to a third-generation boat...
However, they are getting the hang of it quickly, and I also agree with Julien that the two teams are sailing in different modes (high vs low) due to the differences in design objectives. The Brits wanted a nose 'heavy' boat because their rudder is more forward than the others and it's inducing _downforce_ rather than lift. It's behaving like a rear wing on a race car. They have very different approaches and thus different sailing characteristics. Which philosophy is superior will be demonstrated in the race results.
