My Etsy shop was suspended for a few weeks, and after it went back up, traffic still hasn't picked up (3 weeks on). My best seller now only gets one or two views per day. As anticipated, I see that Etsy shareholders are losing interest now, too. So I'm hoping there'll be a new kid on the block soon so we can migrate over to a less pedantic platform.
Oh I love this video, thank you for sharing your ups and downs with us. I’m still suspended on Etsy so really keen to hear how you built out Shopify. Also curious, why were your margins lower on Shopify?
Thank you so much for the comment, my ad cost doubled, your driving traffic from cold traffic sources like facebook ig etc so your cost per acquisition goes up in some niches
Great video and reminder…things could always be worse and what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger! But sometimes it still sucks. :) Very impressed with your mental toughness! Thanks for sharing!❤
Its hard, I understand! My most viral item got ripped and copied and I found it on amazon with my images for a quarter of the price, it took weeks but we finally got it taken down
What do you think about the analysis of listings in Google Analytics? I don't find much information on UA-cam and it may provide us with important information.
Could you do a video on illegal words on Etsy? Like where to find what’s illegal, some random words that are illegal, etc? Does illegal just mean trademarked? Thank you, your videos are always so helpful :)
Love your videos. What I had the most difficulty and almost needed to close my shop, was when I was charging flat rate shipping... Here in Canada, shipping is oh so expensive... well I didn't want to upset my past customers, but some candles I was literally giving them away and losing money. I hate comparing my company to others, but I find it difficult selling in Canada, I have good sales, but when you compare to the United States, some seem to have 10x more daily orders... don't know what to do honestly. Tips might be helpful!!!
You be surprised some people don’t mind paying for shipping and it’s better to show a cheaper price on the front end. Have you ever tried to charge for shipping for some of your items? And see how it affects the sales.
I started an Etsy store and immediately made a sale, like in the first hour. I have no idea how they found me. And I kept making sales BUT... Something glitched in my shop manager and it wasn't functioning. I reported this to Etsy and their response was to close my store. (They love to close stores.) I started another store, but the sales just aren't there now even though I have the same items and added more. 😕
@@EcomHannah Here's a thing that happened with my new Etsy shop. I was selling hoodie blankets made by Subliminator, but the customers weren't getting them because Subliminator was----I sh*t you not----using fake postage! Customs was seizing the orders and I had to refund everyone who bought one. (I did make Subliminator refund me.) I don't use Subliminator or sell hoodie blankets any more.
My experience is so similar to yours. I've been selling on Etsy for 11 years. In my second year, I needed help and hired a bunch of friends. Unfortunately, they took advantage of the situation, and it turned into a social club. I buy materials from China, and one time, they arrived severely damaged. Both the supplier and the shipping company denied responsibility, and I ended up losing $2000. ---
I really enjoy watching your videos. You always pick topics that interest me. I have a question for you. It seems like no matter how accurate my listing titles, tags, pictures, and prices are, some listings don't appear at the front. For example, I sold many Father's Day items a couple of years ago, My current Father’s Day listings are much better but not selling at all. Of course set Etsy ads to max. Are you experiencing the same issue?

Goimagine is the new kid on the block and competition for Etsy!

I’d love to see a video on how you scaled on Shopify and built out a system! I’m in the process now of trying to scale my website.

Comparison is the thief of joy! You are unique in your own way and have your own value proposition just remember that
@@EcomHannah yes, sales went down, and much less grouped purchases.
Wow. Great video. The last one is pretty surprising... 9 months!

Reassuring and fantastic video as always :)

@@EcomHannah I didn't close it, Etsy did. That was their solution to my store manager problem.

I thought if Etsy suspends your store it’s impossible to start a new one?
They gave it back after 9 months
