- For those who (like me) can't stand the sound of my voice, this is the performance-only (no talking) version of a video I made explaining how I use the Boss SY-1000 guitar synth to play Pat Metheny's classic tune "James". You can find that video here • Pat Metheny "James" on... if you want to see a brief explanation of how I use the SY-1000 to loop selected strings of the guitar to accompany the solo.
Great!! the best version I've seen of James. Even playing the original solo.
Thank you, that's very kind!
Pat himself needs to see this.
I wish I knew him to be able to send it to him!

Lovely. Great feeling and a hard but wonderful toon. Thanks for posting.
Many thanks, I really appreciate that!
Fantastic performance! Lovely guitar too
Thank you!
Beautiful! Circled back for another look after your remarkable rendition of "Because It's There". Here with PM; another winner on your stunning Godin. Saw Pat with Lyle, Danny, and the priceless Mark Egan performing James. Tears from most of us attending. Around 0:36 into the piece; have you voiced an Em6 with 022023? Curious and what a lovely voicing. Kudos! P.S. Plan to stick around for more on your SY-1K. Back in the day, built synths with the master--Dave Smith of Sequential Circuits...miss you Dave! Thanks again and cheers from PDX, OR.
Thank you, I really appreciate the kind comment! Re the chord you asked about, that B section goes from A major to a sort of A# dim--is that the one? that's A# G C# F#-->E (kind of an F#7b9/A#. That then goes to Bm7.
Bravo Sir
Thank you!
Bravo, you control that Godin nicely
Thank you!
Got to bring up the pick in the mouth. A habit I have which is now bothering me post Covid. Obviously, the rest was perfect. As good as you play it I might dare to compress a little - or whatever might introduce more punch in tone/attack. Or maybe I am just def and listening on my iPad. Really great job! Thanks so much!
Thank you! I have to say that I too am bothered by the pick in mouth (more for the look of it than anything else), I just don't know what else to do! Guess I need to experiment with one of those sticky strips on the guitar... You also very perceptively highlight an aspect of the sound that I would like to improve--I still haven't got a proper acoustic guitar feel/response from the Godin solid body. I've tried a compressor but with no luck so far. Maybe an expander is needed more than a compressor (?), so still searching....
