"Les Miz" is my favorite musical of all time. I wish you'd go and see a production of it in the West End. Bring a handkerchief or 2. You'll laugh so hard. Cry so hard. Cheer so loud! A roller-coaster of emotions. These types of productions have brought the world so many amazing singers. Please do yourself a favor. Go see this play and PLEASE don't miss PTX the next time they are in London.
And, yes. Leah IS PERFECTION! Perfect voice & perfect technique. What a gift to the world of music, the stage musical & the musical animation.
Thanks for your wonderful reaction.
I cry every time I see Lea Salonga's performance because it is so beautiful, so pure. It goes right through me.
Lea is a class act and a beautiful person
She always gives me goose bumps and made me cry every time I watch and listen to Lea Salonga's rendition of On My Own.
What a wonderful reaction to Lea. She is an incredible storyteller, she does not just sing the song, her entire body, vocals, facial expressions convey the emotions of the story and you can't help but be moved. She is one of those rare individuals who actually enunciates the words with such clarity, I never have to guess what she is singing. Beautiful song, beautiful performance....I just love her. 💞
Exactly! Tells a story with her whole body, she creates such an amazing atmosphere! ❤️
Such a genuine reaction..luv it!
Everybody loves her
❤
❤
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, so much!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely incredible. Like you said, "PERFECTION!!!!!!"
Not you reacting to one of my fav performances ever in the history of musicals 😱💜💘
If you want to discover how great Lea Salonga is yiu just have to type “A little fall of rain” or “Miss Saigon” and you’ll be in for a treat. UA-cam is filled with videos that do Lea justice.
Ah definitely definitely will be checking those out as well 💯❤️
I've seen "Les Mis" 5 times on stage, including twice on Broadway and once in London. I've owned and loaned out at least that many copies of the Broadway cast recording. This is one of the most moving songs in the play - and I've cried during each performance. But Lea's is easily the best I've heard. Her ability to deliver such a raw, emotional performance without sacrificing clarity or musicality is breathtaking. I'm so glad you chose to react to this. watch it again in a few days, on your own - it will still bring tears to your eyes.
The thing that makes "Les Mis" so moving is that every emotional high or low hits a different sentiment: hope, despair, joy, grief, triumph, defeat, comradery, guilt, love, heartbreak, exuberance, righteousness, tragedy.... so each high and low seem new.
Agreed! I've seen it 5 times too. The first time I was on the first row. I LIVED the whole show.
Same, I lived in London when Lea first did. It’s Saigon, the. Managed to see her multiple times in London and NYC, brilliant memories.
She really is incredible! Just such a powerful emotional voice!
She was the singing voice for Jasmine from Aladdin and Mulan from Mulan.
She's actually my favorite singer of all singers (I love a lot of singers, but she stands above them all). Even if I didn't know the musical; EVERY TIME she came to Chicago I got tickets to see her. Listen to all of her Disney songs. She's amazing.
She is incredible. A little trivia, she is an army and her bias is Tae 😉💜
Had the privilege of seeing her on Broadway in Les Miserable years ago and she was amazing and one of my favorite songs especially in the context of the play, loved your reaction!
You need to watch her disney songs..REFLECTION from Mulan and A WHOLE NEW WORLD from Aladdin. She also has videos of disney song medleys. Sending love to you Luke! 🥰
You have just watched a small section of the greatest version (this is from the 10th anniversary concert of London's West End show) of the greatest musical ever written. Barring the COVID break, this has been running for 35 years continously in the West End. In fact it's the longest running musical EVER in London's West End!
I gotta agree with "greatest version", Michael Ball, lea Salonga, man. . .it's killer. Ican watch it over and over. That being said, I have seen several live versions and they're great, by far my favorite musical. I very much disliked the movie, tho'. Yep, watch the whole thing!!
@@stephanies4925 - 100% agree with you on all that, especially your comments regarding the film. I hated the fact that they wanted to get the musical sound as if it was actually sung outdoors in the real world. The result was a very dull ‘boxy’ sound overall, despite some of the individual actors’ performances being very good. For me, I would have preferred them to record all the songs in a studio controlled environment to get the best and most emotive sounds possible and then they could mime and act along with their own voices …. in fact like any other musical that’s ever been made! For me, the most important thing in casting a musical is the actor’s singing ability. I mean, Russel Crowe, c’mon, seriously?
@@showmoke I love Russel Crowe but he was a disaster in that movie! It's not that he can't sing, he was just so stupendously outclassed by everyone else!!!
Oh definitely watch the 10th anniversary concert . Its just amazing I think you would especially like Phillip Quast who plays Javert and singing 'Stars' x
@@dianethompson6816 stars is one of my favourite songs in the 10th anniversary . I would love to see this guys reaction to the whole concert
If you loved this, you should watch the whole concert. It's so good.
Agree you should watch this whole show. Or just listen. It is amazing.
💯💯💯💯
@@GOTGames - Yes, this performance was from the 10th Anniversary Concert edition of Les Mis. Here's a good quality video of the entire production. The play is, of course, amazing, but this Concert edition is flawless. ua-cam.com/video/0c2sx47p31M/v-deo.html
Agree. Perfection.
I so enjoy watching you react to Lea - wish you'd react to more!!!
This Song was made for Lea. Perfect, perfect, perfect. She the greatest
It’s a bittersweet experience seeing something experience Lea singing On My Own, or One More Day. My first time was just like my first time seeing her in. It’s Saigon, I had seen Les Mis in London (Cambridge Circus), but heard Lea would be doing it in NYC, so got tickets. It was an amazing trip, capped with an amazing performance. I wish I’d seen the 10th Anniversary. But seeing it live is so bloody amazing.
The look on your face says it all. How wonderful to hear a heartfelt commentary with such passion and appreciation. 👍🏼
I had the opportunity when i was in my teens to see her on touring production and I remember distictly that was the night I officially fell in love with musical theater. I can listen year later and it never gets old. Glad that you got to experience this level of talent only a niche amount of people know about.
Lea Salonga is a multiple award-winning actress and singer and is renowned across the world for her powerful voice and perfect pitch.
If you haven't seen the movie I just cannot recommend it enough,I'm not a musicals fan by any means but I watched the movie not expecting to enjoy it but it just blew me away, the whole thing was just outstanding, all the singers are top notch,Lea Salonga outshines them all,my opinion only,Please do watch the whole movie.
Still awed by the performance of one of Philippines' gems. Thank you for reacting to her performance. She's really the best! 😍❤️
She truly is incredible!
Lea is a treasure of the Philippines. She's world famous for her singing talent. She sings with lots of emotion and with perfect pitch. She's so easy to like and be bewildered as to how she perfectly interprets every song she sings. Thanks and kudos for you finally finding Lea.
My Favorite singer i love her!
Perfect description of Lea’s voice is truly perfect! You’ll really freeze every time you hear her sing and watch her perform. Thanks Luke for loving another artist from my country 🇵🇭💜
So much beautiful vocal talent from the Philippines! She's wonderful
She the Philippines treasure and a Disney Legend
If you never see another Broadway play, as much as you love music, you must see this one! My favorite score of all the beautiful scores. And the story is a powerful one and easy to relate to today. Try to find a video of the play with Lea Salonga as Eponine.
Lea Salonga is one Filipino artist who has an outstanding amazing and incredible voice. She is a great performer as well. I do agree she is already considered Perfect ! Mabuhay 🇵🇭!
Im just so proud to be a Filipino! I have watch this over and over again and still knock me out of my sanity!! Amazing!! So so incredible!! IM PROUD OF YOU MISS LEA SALONGA!!
Lea's performance of Eponine s the most amazing. I could listen to her again and again
Oh yeah? I can't wait to hear it!
@@GOTGames That was her as Eponine singing On My Own. ❤️ You've just entered a different corner of the vocal world. When I first heard Lea I was never the same again. I just couldn't get enough of her voice and how she projects it. So much vocal technique going on there. She makes it look so easy. And it all started with this single song. There's so much to discover and she had a plethora of jaw-dropping performances.
@@GOTGames Lea Salonga is the only Filipino who won Tony Award in Miss Saigon launched in London in the 80's before you were born. I'm glad you appreciate real talents. Here's she is with Rachelle Ann Go singing The Movie In My Mind (truly mind blowing talents) ua-cam.com/video/bWys8rQ8EXI/v-deo.html
@@johnayala5551 this is really good. Hope he finds time reacting to it… UP
@@fherfer4293 I would hope so as well🙂
She is pure perfection. Incredible. How lucky we are to be existing at the same time as the wonderful Lea Salonga.
She is truly incredible and you have picked some of my favorite performances. Its impossible not to be moved. You should try the song "I still believe" that she performed in Miss Saigon. Very powerful.
There are a few recordings of Lea singing “I Still Believe” (it’s a duet) and I highly recommend finding one with Liz Callaway. Liz was in the broadway production of MISS SAIGON. Absolutely nothing against Claire Moore (the actress in the original production which was in London), but I just love Lea and Liz together. Also Liz did the singing voice of the animated film “Anastasia” (originally released by 20th Century Fox Studios but Disney acquired it so I guess she is technically a Disney Princess, too).
When she was younger I saw this diminutive but very bright girl in Kuh Ledesma show in the Philippines and when she started singing my jaws dropped and I said this girl is going places with her talents . And I was right . When she appeared in MS. Saigon and LeS Miserables she owned the part of Kim and Eponime . She is the First Filipina that put Filipino talents into the attention of the world. She is a national treasure. Nobody else can sing like her . Thank you for critiquing the talents that is Lea Salonga .
Lea Salonga is the Philippines ' pride! A world-class performer!
I watched her two months ago,,, to her concert in California..oh my oh ,,,,her voice is just amazing but hearing her voice in live is mind blowing and even better.. her personality added to her voice is everything and she is just so beautiful
Really?? Ah that's so amazing! Bet she's wonderful live!
She definitely makes you feel everything her character feels. If you want to see emotional, try A Little Fall of Rain from this musical or I’d Give My Life For You from Miss Saigon. I was toast. Of course, having grown up in the Philippines in the 70’s and 80’s, I practically grew up on her.
She really does! Would be happy to check that one out as well ❤️
your right, lea salonga sings perfectly watching from the Philippines tnx for appreciating her voice.
Lea’s performance of “On My Own” is flawless. Her voice is unbelievably clear and perfect.
After 23 years singing a whole new world shes voice is so crystal clear please react sir.. thanks love from ph🇵🇭
Everything about her & her passion & skill is captivating!
Lea' s every performances is epic. I'm proud to be a Filipino because of her. Her diction is superb ,you can understand every word she's saying and with feeling. She started so young in the play Annie. And she is Kim in the play Miss Saigon back then she is chosen among hundreds who audition in the role.
Leah Salonga was the champion in Theaters who was always performing at the Philippine Cultural Center when I was in college. She is from a clan of great musicians. Heard about octaves and vibrato? She has pure talent and great training. They are lucky they found Leah. She’s a Philippine treasure. 👏
Amazing when you know how young she was when she was in Miss Saigon and Les Miz. This performance was 10-15 years BEFORE your first reaction video of her concert. She just doesn’t change with age! She IS perfect.
I cry during this soon, every. Single. Time. Breaks me. She's the perfect Eponine.. and Fantine.. and everyone she's ever played lol
She's stunning isn't she? If you ever get the chance go and see Les Miserables don't think twice. I've seen a ton of musical theater and at the very top of my list is this and Hamilton. By the way, I can tell when you're truly entranced with a performance. Your jaw drops and it never closes until the next time you speak. Love your reactions man!
Lea is a phenomenal voice, trained and uses her voice to avoid damaging it. The problem with some modern singers that only belt, that can damage their voice quickly. Whereas if you have the technics, you can achieve a level of clarity and emotion without these damages.
The first time I saw LesMiz I went in totally blind. Such an emotional experience. it's now one of my fave stage musicals.
I couldn’t move after it ended. I can’t even tell you how long I had to just sit there…I was one of the last to leave.
Mine too! Fav!
Same. Some of my friends were huge fans and I'd heard a few songs, but with no context so they didn't have the same impact. By the end of the final act I was sobbing my eyes out. That was in 1991 and it's been my favorite musical ever since.
you have become one of my favorite reactors, you get so animated! We can actually see you feel, the music that you are hearing! You are a joy!
Appreciate you my friend! Thank you!
I don't know why/how I missed these reactions, but I listened to this song myself tonight (after many years, first I heard it was easily 25+ years ago) and I came across your reaction and I AM LEGIT SOBBING - not just at the song, but your reaction to the song! I have empathy FOR YOU. It's such a moving masterpiece, the whole play/musical really - one of the few where I battled all of my anxiety, drove to the big-city and watched live (well worth it). YOU ARE ME so long ago...and it was so refreshing to experience it all again, through you. So...yeah... thank you for this.
The first time I watched Les Mis was the 10th anniversary performance (which is the one this is from) I instantly fell in love with it, it's amazing. Even with all of the outstanding performances in that production this one with Lea stood out and broke my heart. It still breaks me every time I see it and that's been 20ish years ago. Great reaction my dear.
Everytime Lea sung this song I cry 😭 it's just so beautiful
Can't agree with you more! Lea has a perfect voice. She is a great storyteller. I can feel her emotions everytime she sings. Enjoyed your eloquent comments! Thank you for reacting to this amazing performance.
Awesome lea Salonga! Am very proud of her as a Filipina myself! She is incomparable! We'll keep a record of all her songs n movies.
Love you to watched Lea...and you wanted to cry because of her talent...she's our 💎💎💎😁🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
G.O.T GAMES THANKS FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING! LEA SALONGA IS BEYOND OUTSTANDING!! IN SINGING THIS SONG, "ON MY OWN". i HAVE HEARD MANY WOMEN PERFORM THIS WONFERFUL SONG , BUT I FEEL THERE ARE ONLY TWO WOMEN THAT I HAVE LISTENED TO, WHO CAN TRULY BRING A TEAR TO YOUR EYE WHEN SINGING (LES MISERABLES) ON MY OWN" LEA SALONGA IS CERTAINTLY ONE OF THEM , THE OTHER IS DAURA FROM LIFE IN 3 D. BOTH OF THESE WOMEN ARE BEYOND BELIEF. BOTH WITH ANGELIC , MAJESTIC VOICES! LOVE YOUR PROGRAM AND YOUR ENTHUSIASM!
She's actually my ultimate favorite singer, vocalist. Perfect!
You really should watch the whole concert. If you don't you're cheating yourself of a terrific theater experience. It's amazing and there's not a bad performance in it. Every performance is stellar! "A Little Fall of Rain" is a heartbreaking duet between Lea and Michael Ball and the ensemble pieces are fabulous. The show's been running forever but everyone agrees that the 10th Anniversary Concert was the dream cast. Even if you don't want to do a reaction about the whole show, watch it for yourself. Not the movie, not the 25th Anniversary - the 10th Anniversary Concert! You'll love it.
I watched her live in Les Miserables and Miss Saigon and I just fell inlove with her voice again and again. She’s my best singer since I was a kid.
That's why she's considered a Legend in Theater and in Disney... Her performances were always at par with excellence... Thats the reason she has a Tony! Thank you for your genuine reactions!💖
les mis is my favourite musical of all time, and no matter how often i listen to miss lea salonga's performance it still brings me to tears. she truly does have such incredible skill. a wonderful reaction, G.O.T.!
Wonderful reaction lea is one of our amazing great singer the broadway princes
Lea is absolutely wonderful in this - and many other - parts. Some people did not like or value the motion picture, but you must watch the performance of Anne Hathaway singing "I Dreamed a Dream" - also from Les Mis. It will stop your heart!
Oh man just THINKING about her performance makes me want to sob
Thank you for appreciating our precious Philippine treasure, Ms. Lea Salonga.. am so proud of her!
Beautiful powerful voice. Les Miserables is a great story. The movie is great.
If you can watch Kes Mis in the West End - wow! I sat with my mouth hanging open and tears running down my face for the whole 3 hours. Highly highly recommended. The stage production has to seen to be believed. I guarantee you will sob.
I love all of your reactions!!! Her voice is so beautiful! This same live concert you should react to " A Little Drop of Rain" with her and Michael Ball. Simply breathtaking....always gives me goosebumps!
As some others have mentioned, the whole show is fantastic. Lea and Michael Ball's version of "A Little Fall of Rain" from this same Anniversary show is mesmerizing and will surely pull on your heart's strings. You should check it out. 😉👍
UP!!
Up
Thanks for reacting to this Masterpiece. Lea Salonga is the ultimate Musical Theater Icon in the Philippines and the rest of the World. I hope you can react to her performance of Miss Saigon which she originated in West End and Broadway.
I first heard this song about 25 years ago and it still makes me cry. She does a beautiful job. I sat in the theater in NYC while on a Jr. High Show Choir trip as a chaperone, blubbering like a baby.
Your reactions are *never* boring - love the emotion and the genuine enthusiasm, it really separates you from other reactors.
Echoing other comments, I highly recommend the entire 10th Anniversary LES MIZ program... especially A Little Fall of Rain, you'll lose it, I promise. Thank you!
Yes, I've watched this a lot. Never gets old. The best version. 😎🇺🇲👍💯🌟
That bit where he's going on about how perfect her voice is: he hadn't even got to the best part yet.
I'm so happy for how your channel has grown! You bring such emotion to your reactions and as an older person, it's satisfying to see that beloved music will be passed on to the next generation with appreciation. Thank you!
Ms. Lea Solanga has always been my favorite Filipino artists. She’s absolutely flawless!!! The control - exquisite!!!
No matter how many times I listen to Lea Salonga singing this song, it still moves me to tears. Awesome reaction, mate. Just subscribed to your channel.
Always , always have the same reaction as you do whenever I hear her sing. Every time. She’s a master. 💖
6:17 I beat you to it. 😭 She’s really amazing. I’ve never seen Lea live but I have seen Les Mis on Broadway. My college choir went on tour and we swung thru NYC. We all got to vote on which show to see. I voted for something else. Had exactly ZERO interest in seeing a musical about the French Revolution (seriously, wtf?) and begrudgingly went with my friends-mostly to just to have that Broadway experience. I was completely blown away. Barely managed to keep it together thru Act I, Act II had me openly sobbing (I wasn’t alone), and by the end all my friends and I were a hot mess. The movie blows (imho) and I wish I’d never watched it. But if you have a chance to see it in a theatre, highly recommended. xo
Hey man. I absolutely love your reaction. It is spot on. I had the pleasure of hearing her sing multiple times on Broadway as Kim in Miss Saigon. (My wife was her understudy). I absolutely love your passion and enthusiasm for great singing. I was actually at this performance, and I still cry, every time I see it.
I had the greatest pleasure of witnessing her magical voice live. She's wonderful
She set the bar on this song. Lea is renowned for her clarity and articulation of the words in the song. This is the best of Le Misérables concert the 10th anniversary version. The best of the best performers of Le Mis.
Lea is the best singer and performer ever and i mean ever!!!!!!
This song really rocks the boat. This was the first time that I cried during a performance of an artist. Lea is an incredible singer, infact a versatile artist. You should see all her performances and concerts.
Aiyee so excited for you to see this! I still can't hear this song without choking up. You should watch the entire concert because you will feel it even harder in that scene, and the scene to come after. There is something so PURE about her voice. The clarity, the range, the power and the gentility when required. She is a gift.
I seen her perform this live when she opened for Il Divo. It was so beautiful that tears just fell out of my eyes. She’s amazing
Lea is definately the best! I have listened to her singing this a lot of times. And still - whenever I hear it again it's so moving, it goes straight to my heart, and I cannot help myself. The tears are just rising into my eyes. There is that other song "A little fall of rain" from the same concert. It's the scene where she as Eponine dies in the arms of her not-lover. That song is another masterpiece. You should check it out. Btw, thank you for your amazing reaction.
What a treat to have never heard this song before and hearing it for the first time with Lea Salonga! If you don't plan on watching Les Mis as a whole, then watch her sing the A Little Fall of Rain from that same concert (Spoiler if you plan on watching it tho).
My first time was seeing her in a new musical called Miss Saigon at the Theater Royal. I had no idea, no idea that this lady would change my life. I worked in London, but traveled multiple times to NYC to see her there, before moving to the States. I feel so privileged to have those wonderful memories.
Lea Salonga and Linda Eder have the best voices of all musical theatre. They were my 90s/2000s. Two very different, but very perfect voices. You will have the same feelings with Linda Eder, but for very different reasons. I highly recommend if you ever get a chance, take a look at Linda Eder's "Man of la Mancha" (My Favorite Broadway: Leading Ladies performance) and anything of hers from Jekyll and Hyde: The Musical ("Someone Like You" or "A New Life" in particular). You do not want to cheat yourself if you have not heard them before. Great reaction!
We do have same reaction when I first saw and heard the song... I cried so much... The perfection is great. She has been my idol even in my elementary days.. Annie her. Broadway show
Very powerful performer with a golden voice. You ‘re literally listening to a story. Lea started at a young age for Broadway shows.
She is amazing - if you haven't seen it, you should see the "A Whole New World" duet she did with a fan (Jared) live - it is really good. She is the epitome of hard work and talent❤
I was .lucky enough to see her perform as both Eponine and Fantine. Probably the greatest pleasure I've had in my 50+ years of going to the theater
Hello. thank you for this sincere reaction to Lea Salonga and her performance. please do a reaction video to her recent performance of The Prayer at the US National Memoral Day (NMD) concert 2022, 30 years after she did Eponine for Les Miserables
Oh wow, this was from Les Miserables 10th year anniversary performance-- Lea also performed as Fantine on the 25th anniversary--- Lea's performance as Eponine is my fave Eponine -- still gives me goose bumps -- i recommend to watch les Miz 10 yr anniversary performance-- she is also the original Kim for Ms. Saigon which she won best actress for the Lawrence Olivier and Tony Awards-- i wonder if you would check out her performance for Too Much for One Heart -- if you do, i think you will love it, Lea's ability to emote with her voice and facial expression is top notch.
My favourite singer of all times, absolutely amazing 🤩
I’ve watched this reaction a couple of times now. I can’t wait to see you react to more Lea Salonga videos!!! I think you should really do a double reaction next - they are pretty short: Lea and Brad Kane recording the original “A Whole New World” for Disney’s Aladdin and then both of them singing together 23 years later. Your mind will be blown! (Please *don’t* react to Lea and Brad at the Oscars. First - they had the lip sync because all the scenic elements were too loud onstage to sing live. Second - I don’t think it’s a great arrangement. The 23 years later is exactly like the original film recording.) Thank you!
Lea Salonga is a brilliant singer who also moves me emotionally every time. I can’t say enough about her. If you want to treat yourself, watch the entire concert showcasing all the songs from Les Miserable at it’s ten year anniversary…with the original singers! It’s wonderful.
For a reaction video, I highly recommend Michael Ball singing “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables”. His voice is stunning and the song is one of the most emotional from the musical. I’d love to see your reaction!
Great reaction! Thanks for including Lea Salonga..
So I recently found your reactions around a month ago...I have to say that I love the pure, true emotion that you always show when watching some of these powerful performances. Keep doing you my friend!
I really love the clarity of her heartwarming voice
You may wanna check Lea Salonga's auditions with Miss Saigon when she was just a teenager, clinching the lead role that solidified her acting career, eventually landing her Best Actress Lawrence Olivier award as well as Tony awards among others. Also please react to her duet with Rachel Ann Go as they sang Movie in My Mind.
Les Mis is my favorite musical (besides Phantom of the Opera), and although I have heard this song so often already, Lea never fails to give me goosebumps. Her voice is just the best..
New here... Lea is a true Philippine Treasure, a Royalty on stage.
Lea and Brian Justin Crumb are the two singers today who can pierce my soul every time they open their mouths and look straight at you while doing so. Great reaction!
*Crum. And I agree.
