- much needed rehoming!!! aphonopelma seemanni (Costa Rican zebra) - tarantula care & rehouse
aphonopelma seemanni - tarantula care & rehouse, everything you need to know about keeping this species in your spider collection, rehoming this species proved tricky at first, but this costa Rican stripped knee didn't get the better of me. I hope you enjoy this tarantula spider video.

Pure white vinegar cleans it! Takes off water stains.😊
Thanks for the tip Dana I'll give it a go 😊
Boy! She's gorgeous! Beautiful new home. I love that species. Don't have one. Almost did. Lol.
You definitely have to get one it's a staple in any collection
Such a beautiful tarantula. Tarantulas don't like getting moved at any time, but damn they can wreck their enclosures. You could spend all day cleaning their enclosures, but damn they love pooping on squashing their prey against the side. I spot clean and that's all you can really do. Anyway, cool video Robbie.
Yep I have no doubt that nice new setup will be destroyed in a few weeks
The last time I rehoused my seemanni, I renamed it to Demon after the threat pose and biting attempts :') Yours is much better behaved than mine! Beautiful Tarantula
Sounds like you had your work cut out for you with that rehouse
I was lucky with mine. First time I ever rehouse a tarantula. Dropped a cricket in, and she sat out of her burrow with it. Took my chance and got her in the catch up. She seemed quite happy with something to eat while I setup the new enclosure which she has already burrowed into and seems to spend most of her time just at the mouth of her burrow ready to run and hide 😁.
She is so beautiful and the set up btw
Thanks Sharon how's it going?
Going ok
Good glad to hear it 😊
Nice rehouse Robbie of a gorgeous tarantula, mine burrows as well only coming out for a drink what I've found is w/c ones will burrow and your c/b will quite happily stay out in the open and mine hasn't eaten for some time.as long has she had water it's all good.she could be in premolt.
Beautiful spider thanks for the video
And thank you for watching as always
She is so pretty 😍
Thanks for watching Ashley 🙂
Great video! I recently got a seemanni and it started off great! I held her all the time with no problem! I tried again today and all of a sudden she’s skittish 😭
I'm glad you picked one up they are a great species to keep. But unfortunately tarantulas aren't really meant to be handled, some will tolerate it but on the whole all the tarantula wants to do is get away and hide. Plus a fall from height (even a slight height) could result in serious injury to the tarantulas abdomen leading to its death. So be very careful if you're attempting it.
@@robbiestalkingts completely right. I started holding her while her enclosure is on the ground just in case. She now walked up to my hand! But I know to let her be when she decides to be skittish❤️
Awesome video mate beautiful t my first t I got Is a a.seemani
Is a great species to start with, very forgiving of husbandry mistakes too which is great for beginners
Well you did a better job then me and she looks stunning.😍
I might have to start using that catch tube.🖤
That is what it's there for 🤣🤣🤣🤣
AWESOME video mate Shes a STUNNING T I bought a sub adult female from the Bedford Show last year shes molted once since then and she has turned her enclosure upside down too lol
They are little bulldozers
@@robbiestalkingts thats true mate every couple of days I see her with a rolled up bit of sub in her pedipalps lol
What a jaw dropper 🤩
They are a stunning spider
I got 3 slings 2 months ago in the hope I get a female , sack mates Lock,Shock, and Barrel I set them up fossorially straight away , they made lots of tunnels and huge caverns at the base of the enclosures 😊 really cool sp more ppl should have them .
Oh n try lemon juice or white vinegar on the water marks let it sit about 30 mins n scrub with a sponge n rinse should come off np n t safe too obviously no good for that enclosure now but might be helpful in the future 😊
Great vid hinny n she is stunning btw.
Appreciate the tip, I'll try it next time 😊 I honestly just follow the rule of no foreign substance in the water just to be safe buuuuut I'll give it a go. Thank you 😊
@@robbiestalkingts np as long as its rinsed well it will be fine gl 👍
Learn something new everyday thank you
She looks stunning, I have a blue colour form and I’m just waiting for her to molt it’s been forever lol
They do take ages mine was in premolt for 9 months
Great video! I've had my juvenile female for about 6 months now, and she's never shown interest in burrowing. She has plenty of substrate and a hide. Is this something I should be worried about? I love that she's always on display but I know they're burrowing spiders!
I've found that burrowing all boils down to how moist the substrate is, if its really soft they will burrow but if its on the dry side they won't, either way they do perfectly fine and live long happy lives. Also thanks for watching I really appreciate you taking the time 👌🙌
Im new to keeping ts and im just wondering from what I've seen so far would she be less bolty if you used a brush instead of tongs ? Always following your videos btw thanks for the advice and the experience I learn is priceless
I've used brushes I've used tongs and neither make a difference if I'm being honest, it's all down to the fact the spider senses something large coming towards it and acts accordingly, some specimens are just more prone to being flighty and some more calm.
Is there any advice on handling it I've tried with mine but to quick 😂 I know they would prefer not to be but it be nice to get him out
OK so here's the thing it's not even the fact they don't like it, they tolerate it more than anything, but the main reason is handling tarantulas increases the risk of injury or death in the event of a fall or accidental dropping, or if the tarantula bolts carelessly ect, which is why handling is discouraged. You also risk bites and being hit with urticating hairs which is awful if it gets in your eyes, nose or mouth. But that being said if you was to handle it I'd advise to do it after testing what mood its in before handling with a paint brush and checking it's response to it, then I'd also advise handling as low to the ground as possible to reduce the risk of a drop/fall
@@robbiestalkingts that is amazing advice thank you , if I was to handle it I think I'd keep my hands in the enclosure down so he can just walk off if he's not comftable:) thank yiu very much mate keep up with your good videos 💙
Always here to help kieron and thank you for watching, feel free to ask me anything you have any issues with, I may take some time replying but I always will reply 😊 enjoy your tarantula
What ratio of top soil to coco fiber? 1/2 and 1/2?
Yeah I literally add a whole block of freshly made coco fibre to a bag of top soil and sometimes ill add fine vermiculite if I'm putting real plants into the enclosure.
I need more seemanni in my life! I have a sa/a which (along with an lp juvie) was my very first tarantula so had for just over two years but it’s still unsexed, only molted once last June but the molt is still deep in its burrow but I do suspect female! Looking to pick up a juvie at BTS.
Fingers crossed, they normally have a few at shows. So u will find one for sure
What's her size?
She's around the 5-6 inch mark they don't get overly massive in size
‘Crush the head’ 😔
?
Of the roach 😕 feeder or not 🤷🏻♀️
It's not necessary for dubia roaches it only stops them potentially burrowing they are not harmful to tarantulas. Unlike crickets locusts and superworms which are
@@robbiestalkingts true! I feed red runners 😁
