This is how Daemon ended up in that unhappy marriage he had at the beginning of this series. It was arranged by his grandmother. Queen Rhaenyra’s mother was the result of another of these marriages. Queen Aemma had a Targaryen mother and a Arryn father. And Princess Rhaenys, the Queen who never was, had a Baratheon mother and a Targaryen father. My point is that this was just the children and grandchildren of one Targaryen king and queen. Throughout the 300 years of the Targaryen dynasty there were many marriages with many houses throughout Westeros. And that doesn’t include all of the bastards born to Targaryens over that time. There is a lot of Targaryen blood throughout Westeros. And there has already been quite a bit of it by this time in their history. Rhaenyra and Jace just need to track people with Targaryen blood down.
Robert Baratheon himself was one of those non-Targaryen Targaryens, which was the pretext the rebellion used to put him on the throne in the end. His grandmother was a Targaryen who married into House Baratheon -- exactly the kind of situation that Rhaenyra & Jace were discussing.
alyssa (daemon and viserys’ mother) died when daemon was young (a baby, maybe? the timeline in the show is kinda unclear), so young that clearly the mother he sees in his dream/nightmare is probably not the “real” alyssa as she actually appeared, just an idealized targaryen mother figure - one whose unconditional love and acceptance daemon craves, just as he craved from his brother. idk. a lot of people are going to hate it and get squicked out by it (mind you i don’t think the show has ever tried to portray targaryen incest as some Actual beautiful important thing ((as some fans would like to believe lol))…) but i think it’s some pretty interesting insight into daemon as a character. i love all the harrenhal shit especially because in the book the only line about daemon’s time there is like “he said he was immune to its darkness” or whatever LMFAOOOOO

Since dragons live longer than people, after a dragon rider dies - his/her dragon may bond with another person, but that is up to the dragon.

I don't think Aemond was planning on killing Aegon at the end of the previous episode, when he found him next to Sunfyre. He already had his sword out because he was situated in a battlefield, but if you look closely you can see him grab his scabbard and raise his sword as if to sheathe it before he even notices Cole; after he sees Cole he just completes that motion. It's meant to be ambiguous, but I think that if you look closely you'll see that he wasn't raising his sword to finish Aegon off at all.
I haven’t read the book so this is an actual prediction, but I think toward the end of the show if the blacks win it will be by commoners killing Agon, or amond, whoever is king. But I do think of all the greens Alicent will live, and if she dies it would either be by a green and the only black I think would kill her is Damond

In regards to the King/Queen Consort title - yes, Alicent was the Queen Consort while she was married to Viserys (she is now the Dowager Queen since she’s the king’s mother). There’s never really been a Queen in Westeros so there isn’t a definitive title for the Queen’s husband. Daemon seems to have taken King Consort, and the emphasis on the _Consort_ is there so there’s no mistaking who the actual ruler is, a problem that doesn’t exist with the title of Queen/Queen Consort. For example, in England the Queen’s husband adopts the title of Prince Consort because the title of King holds more authority and higher rank than that of Queen.

There's more interfaction conflict in the show then the books. Daemon and Rhaenyra do not see eye to eye. Aegon and Aemond do not see eye to eye. As far as the Green faction goes, they came to power due to having a male regent. They cannot appoint a women at this point.

Well the book is not cannon. The story is told from the perspective of an unreliable narrator just like all of GRRM works regarding this universe. The only time you can trust anything is if the three-eyed Raven (i. e., George himself) states something. The show will keep to the final results and characters but details can be changed has as already happened. When this series is finished, it will be the definitive cannon, not the book because it is told from what really happened as if we the viewer is the three eyed Raven.

It sure did. The whole episode was a bit of a dud for me, tbh. It's definitely the weakest episode of the season, and possibly of the series thus far. Since we are only getting 8 episodes this season instead of 10, my expectations are higher and this one fell short.
Daenerys wasnt bonded with Rhaegal and Viserion only to Drogon. Rhaegal and Viserion just followed her and Drogon as they were unclaimed no one could give them commands and Dragons are still free thinking. They simply followed her around because they wanted to but they could be claimed and Daenerys wouldnt be able to do anything about that. Its not said out right that you can only have 1 Dragon bond but it is assumed.
she was bonded to all 3 but only rode drogon. you can claim a dragon without riding it. and they stuck by dany because she’s their mother. in the books all 3 are very close to dany especially viserion, who’s very clingy to her. and she only rode drogon once in the book and it was for survival. she might ride the other two in the future.

Dany is not really a special case, shes not immune to fire and the whole blood magic ritual is probably how they did hatch dragons before. All this talk about Dany being a Special case is flimsy at best when you actually get into the meats and potatos.

The plan to put others on dragon’s is foolish. Everyone having dragon’s sews the seeds for civil war. If Viserys had not allowed his sons to have dragons then they wouldn’t be able to challenge. It also makes the Targaryens look less like gods if someone else is seen riding one. You’re essentially creating challenges to the throne later down the line. It’s a short term solution and a long term problem.
Robert baratheon is a descendent of Rhenyra so should he have committed suicide? the fact is that here we are looking for people who have enough Valyrian blood to be able to create a bond with a dragon. dragons refuse and accept whoever they want. they often also reject Valyrians and certainly those who do not belong to the blood of Valyria cannot really ride it and are excluded. we need related people not too many generations apart.

You can see that Cole expected ppl to cheer when he paraded Meleys' head but instead there were whispers of displeasure. No Targaryen can disrespect a dragon like that. It's obviously Cole's stupid plan to show strength but instead he has mortolized the dragons in the eyes of the small folk. Now the fear aspect they had of dragons is slowly deteriorating. "I thought the dragons were gods" "It's just meat" Those two statements show the shift in mindset

There's more interfaction conflict in the show then the books. Daemon and Rhaenyra do not see eye to eye. Aegon and Aemond do not see eye to eye. As far as the Green faction goes, they came to power due to having a male regent. They cannot appoint a women at this point.

Well the book is not cannon. The story is told from the perspective of an unreliable narrator just like all of GRRM works regarding this universe. The only time you can trust anything is if the three-eyed Raven (i. e., George himself) states something. The show will keep to the final results and characters but details can be changed has as already happened. When this series is finished, it will be the definitive cannon, not the book because it is told from what really happened as if we the viewer is the three eyed Raven.
GRRM already said that GOT is a different canon from the books.

In the book, yes, but they have been slightly aged up for the show. I would add 2-3 years for each character.

It sure did. The whole episode was a bit of a dud for me, tbh. It's definitely the weakest episode of the season, and possibly of the series thus far. Since we are only getting 8 episodes this season instead of 10, my expectations are higher and this one fell short.
Daenerys wasnt bonded with Rhaegal and Viserion only to Drogon. Rhaegal and Viserion just followed her and Drogon as they were unclaimed no one could give them commands and Dragons are still free thinking. They simply followed her around because they wanted to but they could be claimed and Daenerys wouldnt be able to do anything about that. Its not said out right that you can only have 1 Dragon bond but it is assumed.
she was bonded to all 3 but only rode drogon. you can claim a dragon without riding it. and they stuck by dany because she’s their mother. in the books all 3 are very close to dany especially viserion, who’s very clingy to her. and she only rode drogon once in the book and it was for survival. she might ride the other two in the future.

@@penguin50279 We do have several ideas. For one GRRM said there will be a 2nd Dance and it can only happen if both sides have dragons. Figurative dragons doesnt count. Euron has the dragonbinder horn, Jon is Rhaegar's son and Young Griff aka Aegon Blackfyre is of old Valyria. 3 potential dragonriders. Dany is not really a special case, shes not immune to fire and the whole blood magic ritual is probably how they did hatch dragons before. All this talk about Dany being a Special case is flimsy at best when you actually get into the meats and potatos.

The plan to put others on dragon’s is foolish. Everyone having dragon’s sews the seeds for civil war. If Viserys had not allowed his sons to have dragons then they wouldn’t be able to challenge. It also makes the Targaryens look less like gods if someone else is seen riding one. You’re essentially creating challenges to the throne later down the line.
It’s a short term solution and a long term problem.

Robert baratheon is a descendent of Rhenyra so should he have committed suicide? the fact is that here we are looking for people who have enough Valyrian blood to be able to create a bond with a dragon. dragons refuse and accept whoever they want. they often also reject Valyrians and certainly those who do not belong to the blood of Valyria cannot really ride it and are excluded. we need related people not too many generations apart.
