I took the Sony ZV-E10 out for a lowlight, run and gun shoot with the Sigma 16mm f1.4. I had no control over the lighting or the environment and I just wanted to see how the camera held up.

Just got the camera and love it so far. It amazes me people worry about sensor size on apsc, when filmmakers from the 80's and 90's would have killed for that low light quality. Heck I would have loved to have it in the early 2000's. Even the rolling shutter isn't a huge deal for cinematic footage. I use it as a guideline. If I'm panning too fast for a rolling shutter then I'm panning to fast for my viewers anyway. :) Which is a good guideline for me because I always pan too fast lol
This is an excellent point. I always tell people - if you're whipping your camera around enough to cause visible rolling shutter, the audience is going to get seasick no matter what camera you are using!!

Very nicely done bro! I tried a low light slow-mo video at night last christmas with the ZV-E10 and it came out great. Was cool to see your take on it. It's not bad at all in low light, although I know full frame would be better... it's doable.

The ZV-E10 is really an awesome camera.
At the end of the day the lens determines the low-light performance much more than the size of the camera sensor.
f/1.4 does the heavy lifting. But the low image noise at high ISO and the incredible autofocus of the ZV10 making it a good nightlife vlogging device.
Mark, you convinced me to buy one a few weeks ago. In combination with a Sony 15mm f/1.4 and a zhiyun crane M2 gimbal I have a lot of fun now.

Catalyst Browse can reduce the rolling-shutter issue.
Life is never perfect.
In general the flash synchronisation time is a good indicator of how fast the camera sensor can be read out.
The ZV E10 has a flash sync time of 1/160s. The Sony A1 has a flash sync time of 1/500s.
At the end of the day you have to understand your tool and its limits.
C̵e̵n̵t̵r̵a̵l̵ Global shutter cameras could become a real game changer in the future.
BTW, all mirrorless cameras nowadays use a rolling shutter.
I've been using Sony for a long time and all my attention was on Slog and HLG, but thanks to you I decided to try Cine2 pp and I'm really satisfied. I think that profile has very little noise and now it's my choice in low light conditions. Thank you.

Wifey is getting me this lens for Christmas, can’t wait to use it with the ZV-E10! Right now I have the kit lens and the Sony 35 1.8 OSS and enjoy them both but am looking forward to 16mm with the 1.4 aperture instead of 3.5. Happy holidays, Mark!

Your videos on the ZV-E10 is what made me choose it as my camera for my YT channel. I could not be happier with that purchase and lost the fomo for the A series for now! I love the Sigma 16mm as well. If you see this - recommended lens for close up product broll? I've been using the Sigma for the excellent low light performance but feel there may be something else better that won't break the bank. Cheers and happy holidays Mark!

Lovely little film. The Debussy helps lend a sort of "oh the humanity" vibe, but in a touching rather than catastrophic way. The low light is good. I now get what you mean about how active stabilization crop + wide lens can be turned to our favor by enabling a new, tighter focal length option, by my arithmetic a 35mm FF equivalent (34.56) with the 16mm.

@@hamzagok5070 no, never been an issue for me and I record several videos weekly where I make the autofocus work to focus on items I hold up and moving around. Love it!

Got one for my daughter. It so many great features she can use. Sure beats the a6500 I gave her when it comes to vlogging and simplicity, if you can consider any menu system simple.

As you know, I have the ZV E10 and the Sigma 16MM 1.4 like you.
Been using it mostly as a webcam for my show, and now ready to move it up into shooting short films, comedy sketches, and other entertainment for the show and was thinking I need to try a different lens, the 30MM, now not sure if I need it or not, what day you as far as more for sketches and more character based stuff and storytelling?
Still have no idea on how to use this camera off the tripod and stabilizing and transferring footage etc etc 😂.
