    Everyone now calls themselves savage or beast because they have a great training session or even a training cycle. But theirs every few men that walked the planet like KAZ. The way he blocked out pain and pushed harder then anyone around him is unbelievable

      @chtomlin 6 років тому +3

      Yes, often when he was training, the gym would just clear out from the intensity. People would ask how I had the nerve to stay in there and spot him.

    Kaz is the baddest man on the planet. In his prime, he was 6'2.5" and 320-340 pounds in competition and NO ONE was statically stronger than him, both physically and mentally. Had he not injured himself in 1981/1982, who knows what he could have gone on to lift. He's an inspiration and a legend. I hope to meet you one day and shake your hand Kaz.

      Yes, and helping him train for the Jax Bulls fullback position at 295 running the 40 under 5 secs was pretty impressive.

    Kaz is the reason I started to compete in powerlifting, I saw him do a exhibition in LA back in the 80's, he stuck ammonia capsules in his nose and did a squat heavier than I had ever seen. He was a freaking animal, his exhibition lifts were greater than some strive to compete at! Thanks Matt, this man is a icon of the sport.

      Completely disagree. Kaz rambles. Even is a bit nonsensical at times. Matt is a pleasure. Kaz is rough to listen to

    I genuinely miss old school narcissism. Kaz is a bit nutty, all about himself, etc. But damn, he earned it. He is the real deal. There was no social media motivating him. He was landscaping to pay bills.
    “I had to move boulders (for the landscaper I worked for)…which was kinda fun”.
    That is pure passion.

    Great interview Matt and crew. I attended his seminar at Jerry Pritchetts Gym a few years ago and then I wrote the piece on him for The Power Magazine earlier this year. Kaz’ knowledge should be captured because he is physical culture’s National treasure.

    I am 6 foot six and the biggest I ever competed at in powerlifting competition was 300 pounds so I’m thinking I would’ve had to weigh about 370 to be proportionate to bill..that’s amazing. I remember seeing old issues of powerlifting USA and he was on the cover of one of them and his traps just looked like they could touch the moon they were so big. One of my biggest heroes! we love you Bill!

    Kaz told a different version of the 110 lb barbell in another interview, so which is true? In the other one he said he pressed 110 once, by the end of the year he did it ten times easily.

    • @ryanotoole3767
      @ryanotoole3767 6 років тому +2

      I think its the same version each time, he did it once. He states that he COULD have done it more times. BTW, if this is actually Brad "fake weights" Castlebury you have no room to call someone out for embellishment. Your whole youtube career is, nicely put, embellishment.
