Pogo legitimately looks like a different horse than when you got him. He's also got such a great brain. And your mom is one of my favorite people despite never meeting her.
I recently got a 3yr old OTTB, because I wanted something young to produce and take up the levels, so far he's been a total saint during the training that I have been able to do with him. But unfortunately a bit over a month ago he had an accident out in pasture, we're now a month post op, he's healing really well and even though he damaged his tendon during the accident he's only been really lame on the leg before surgery, now he's basically walking normal. We still have a long road ahead but it's looking like he will recover to be a functional riding horse and fingers crossed, will still be able to take me up the levels in show jumping and eventing.
Agree with Red Mare - totally sucks. Take your time, let him heal extra fully for best long term outcome. Even young TBs that haven't sustained a leg injury have been pushed too far too fast & years later, because of that, develop Kissing Spine & have their eventing careers over by 8 yrs old. So you've got time if you want a long term partnership. Let his spine grow & mature! Good luck with the healing.
Boy don't all you people own a slice of real heaven with your barn , houses, pastures and horses. What a relaxing place for everyone one of you to enjoy. Very fortunate .

That grey horse in the round pen was stunning I normally am not a fan of that bright of a horse cause we all know how much work that is but oh my gosh stunning 😍
What a sweet boy! I like that even when he was spooky, he didn't lose his head completely and he came back to you basically instantly. Your mom did a nice job riding him too---I love how soft they became with each other.
Shelby's mom, you are cute. Putting a claim in on Pogo. Horses have their own unique personality and he's a sweetie like George. I think he would be the perfect ride for you. And when you rode him, you looked good together.

My boy just flinched a little and just had the most pissed off look on his face 😅 hes not scared of fore works, but they do make him angry and he had his ears pinned the whole way back home lol thank god I have a chilled boy

My horse had over a year off because of lameness issues, his first ride back after he was sound a huge sheet of snow slid off of the metal arena roof, and he didn’t even flinch. I think I freaked out 10x more than he did 😂
This is so impressive! Especially when I compare him to the Arabian I'm riding atm. He just turned 6 and he still gets the zoomies so so so much. He is really curious which I appreciate very much but he just gets so stressed very easily and then just has to run it off
