176 American flags flying at Irondequoit home

Irondequoit, N.Y. - You've seen American Flags flapping in the wind all over town. They're on people's homes and telephone poles lining some streets, all in support of America this Fourth of July weekend.
But there's one home in the Town of Irondequoit that's probably the most patriotic house on the block.
176: That's not the number on the house, but the number of American flags flying and adorning Anthony Polito's yard and home.
"Ever since I was a child I was fascinated with American flags," Polito said.
He said he couldn't help but add more and more of the red, white and blue each year -- for the past 16. Twenty two flags were added this year.
"That sounds kind of silly," says Polito."I just feel adding more and more every year. To me, it's like candy for a baby. I enjoy doing it very much."
So does his granddaughter, Alyssa.
"I love doing it," she says. "I think it's just enough."
Alyssa is responsible for putting in the small flags around the bricks and trees.
"I probably could do the big flags, but this is my job and I like it."
The family starts sprinkling bits of patriotism across the yard and inside the garage ten days before July 4th.
"We're celebrating 239 years tomorrow, and to me that's a big deal," Polito says. "[To] be free and open in this country."
Even people passing by stopped to take pictures.
"I just thought it was an amazing display of patriotism," Debby Saltrelli of Charlotte said. "It's different than anybody else out there that I know. So I had to come back and take some pictures."
Polito says the terrorist attacks of September 11 further sparked his love and devotion for this country.
"Considering what's been going on in the world the last few years, we need more patriotism than what we have."
So if you're in the Town of Irondequoit, Alyssa has one message for you: "You could come by and love it as much as we do."
Polito tells 13WHAM a couple of the flags were given to him. The oldest is from 1930.
Polito's goal is to have 200 flags flying in his yard by next year.
