Rather than looking toward the speculation of this one "taking" this and that from one or another, why don't you focus on the actual facts surrounding 3 young boys being formed and growing up together in the same neighborhood, church, schools, environment, and being subjected to many of the same influences, musically as well as otherwise. Jus' sayin'. Power tokage (Pow R Tok H)
Realizing he was losing it, his creative genius was all he had left to give but not for long. He formed one of the greatest rock bands in history as well. You will not be forgotten Syd Barrett.

Can we just forget about endlessly kissing Bowie's arse. It's totally upside down hinting plagiarism or likeness here. It is indeed true that Bowie himself was the fan and Syd was a 60's idol who impressed HIM. Check Bowie's Pin Ups album out for a tribute.
To anyone still peddling the myth that Syd was forced out of Floyd against his will ...You need to read / listen to the new interview with Syd's sister who he spent most of the rest of his life with. She very clearly expains that Syd was always an arist (painter) and never wanted to be in the music business. He only went into music as a side hobby and for a bit of fun. He never wanted the fame or firtune from it. He hated every momnet of it when Pink Floyd started becoming famous and when he was then seen as a celebrity. He just wanted to play some music, write a few songs and not be in the limelight at all. Clearly him then taking too muany drugs together had a bad effect alonside people expecting to be a rock star (something he hasted the idea of being) So the only way he could try and get his life back on track was to go back to doing what he always wanted to do and be , namely and artist and to piant and draw. So all this bullshit that he was pushed out of the band against his will is nonsence. The fact that he would go on stage and only play one cosrd the whole gig with Floyd was his way of saying he wanted out and wanted to stop being a celebrity and in a rock band. So they rest of the band had no choice. They could clearly see he wanted to be left alone to be an artist. He made an amazing album and those early Floyd song , but he was never cut out to take his music career any further.

marcela REYES You have to listen closely. It’s beautifully simplistic yet very artistic and poetic. Syd wrote this in 1968 just after he was kicked out of his band. There is a message within the lyrical poetry.
marcela REYES you cant understand it because you lack imagination to understand others perceptions What gratifies us might be a dissonance to someone else, forget someone else what gratifies us is sometimes dissonance to ourselves. This thinking of not being able to grasp the perception of others and trying to paint it with our own is the reason of all the quarrel, fights and schisms. Please do not take it as a personal attack on you its just an answer to the question “how” you asked.
Total rubbish words mean nothing just ramblings of s person who has lost the plot singing is dreadful Syd wrote one good album and a couple of singles the rest that he did is crap
Dark hair, ant hills riding snow skates in the bright summer sun, suit cases packed with jelly and rocks. Little kids laugh at old man dancing in the shower, tidal waves reach the moon and the ash. My arm chair is sliding down to the truck with ticks and feathers on the ground. This is the crap Syd made. It made no sense whatsoever and was so off tune. How can anybody think his music was good 😆
We all miss you Syd Barrett. RIP
I hear pain in his voice. I’m only a person. Wouldn’t you miss me at all? That line is sung with sorrow and grief
There is a LOT of pain in his voice
Roger waters definitely had this and other SB material in his head when writing and took from it. It's structure is all over The Wall and Final Cut

I agree no syd no wall even the psychological aspect of it
He inspired and influenced David Bowie so much x
as an older men now I can tell you there's only a few that I never tired an Syd is on top of the list.
I been listening to this album for 50 years and still discover depths and details in it that I hadn't considered before.
It was as if Syd knew he was on the edge. A realization that in a sense his real self was leaving forever. Becoming someone else, he died twice.
Realizing he was losing it, his creative genius was all he had left to give but not for long. He formed one of the greatest rock bands in history as well. You will not be forgotten Syd Barrett.
Im 60 now and this is my favorite song.A Masterpiece!!!
Can really hear this singing inflection used later by Waters in Fletcher Memorial Home from The Final Cut.

The characteristic of works of art is to remain unchanged over time.

This would have been a good one for Saucerful of Secrets with Jugband Blues.

He done pretty well as an acid casualty with no Serotonin left in his brain and full of Mandrax at the same time. Its a brilliant song...
I love Syd Barret fantastic human poetic, uma pena que ele ficou doente por causa das drogas.

The Final Cut.

i could hear roger waters singing this one.

The wont you miss parts sounds like Roger Waters.
Funny that Roger never did and Gilmour has. Makes you wonder who really cared about Syd.
actually its Roger who sings as Sid
Really

He’s doing Bowie before Bowie

I do syd
Roger Waters seems to sing very much like Syd, both whom I adore.
If you listen to the track Dark Globe u can hear Roger waters took a lot from it..The same structure is repeated all over The Wall and Final Cut
I mean syd´s style compare to pink w/out syd
Even though Im sure it may have a true Psichiatric value.

Being completely wrong does not, necessarily, piss anyone off.
Defo...I mean, listen to Don't Leave Me Now.... directly inspired by Syd's vocals I'm sure.

I just dont understand how some people could find this work better than the later one, from DSOM to DIVISION BELL. No voice, no music, no ryhme.
Its just something about the simplicity of it and tbh Pink Floyd went down hill after Rodger Water's
marcela REYES You have to listen closely. It’s beautifully simplistic yet very artistic and poetic. Syd wrote this in 1968 just after he was kicked out of his band. There is a message within the lyrical poetry.
Because it's a beautifully flawed expression of reality.
