In the fifth installment of their iTunes Dance Chart-topping series, Anjunadeep shows off its current crop with two mixes that journey across ambient electronica, deep house, modern garage vibes, and spacey techno.
First up is label boss James Grant, whose annual compilation mixes are eagerly anticipated by the Anjunadeep faithful - with good reason. Beginning on the beautiful chilled electronica of Croquet Club’s “Cardigan” (supported on BBC Radio 1 by Zane Lowe), Grant’s mix is loaded with exclusive original material from Dusky, Vincenzo, Tom Middleton, Beckwith and DAVI.
Also featuring the exclusive Andrew Bayer & James Grant Remix of “It’s Cool” by Australian’s indie-electronic outfit The Presets and two standout tracks from new talent Universal Solution, Grant’s mix is a measured and character-filled blend of modern melodic deepness.
Bringing that sensibility to his first Anjunadeep mix, Wisternoff’s CD is a blend of sunshine-soaked deep house (San Francisco talent’s Lane 8’s brilliant “Be Mine”), melodic deep house (Alfred Taylor’s “Kuza”) and Good Looking-esque liquid jungle atmosphere (check Jody's own rework of Skanna’s ’93 jungle classic “This Way”), with a garage curveball from current hotshots Leftwing & Kody and some deep washed out techno from Matt Lange and Andre Sobota along the way.

Random but I got into this music by accident while talking to a business man down the road. Ever since then I've loved this station-genre
This CD defined Anjunadeep and the genre for me. The deep sea art cover, combined with what felt like I was hearing a rave underwater. It's been almost 5 years, and I still listen to this all the time.
Definitely agree. This was the first Anjunadeep comp. I ever listened to and it's still the best in my opinion.
Agreed. The covers definitely took a step down starting with Anjunadeep 08. The covers of AD up to 07 had something transcending and deep in them. Starting with 08 we have got plastic, material-design crap.
Agree!
Great comment, completely agree!
I started on 03, and 04 was probably my favorite along with some tracks from 03. 05 was really good, but from there on only 1 or 2 tracks stuck out from 07,08, and 09.
I was entroduced through Trance Around the World, I remember them mentioning anjunadeep 03 and decided to figure out what that meant. Now, I don't listen to trance at all lol
I don't care what anyone says but I say this is the best compilation of the entire series. past its release, I feel like the comps since have been enjoyable but have been unable to match the special aura and feel that this mix captured so well. There's a special groove that it exudes, coupled with an array of beautiful melodies, that you don't find on other comps/labels. Bravo to James Jody and all the artists involved for producing such an amazing aural experience.
I feel the same way. 🌀
100% agreed
I’m in total agreement - it’s not the boring malaise that the series has become. This and 06’were superb. There’s an groove - it’s uplifting/ melancholic/Inspiring/ reflective - has a groove and a nice balance of music - superb. But jodys soundcloud mixes from this period were also excellent.
Anj at the gorge is the best ever
7 holds a special place in my heart
Still my favorite in 2022! This aged S M O O T H L Y
This (along with Jody's CD2) were the best Anjunadeeps. I loved the turn they took with this compilation and was dismayed when they went away from this style in later issues.
The Anjunadeep 05 had an air of masculinity about it. Minimalistic and at times rough-around-the-edges, yet it was still beautiful and melodic. It had a message, destination and the power to get us there.
The Anjunadeep 06 was a decaying child of the 05; afterwards, everything became soft. Just soft.
5 and 6 were stellar. The rest have been limp. But jodys sounclour mixes from about 2013 - 2017. There are some amazing mixes there. Download a few and work your way through them . A lot have this similar feel.
@@holeintheleg 09, 11, 12 have all been brilliant in my opinion
I lost my album and thank the heavens it has been recovered, dug up *DEEP* from storage.
This album will ALWAYS remind me of traveling through the North, South and West of Oregon.

Best album cover, best anjunadeep compilation to date
Definitely. This and CD2 were excellent. The best of the series.
When Jody comes in, Ajnunadeep has changed...
The most beautiful start to any of the Anjunadeep mix CDs. After 05 it sadly goes downhill but at least it ended on quite the high note!!
dope...the best label electro in the wolrld!
I mark this album as the shift towards the "current" sound of the label. I remember being skeptical that Jaytech wasn't sharing mixing duties again, and that certain staple acts like Suspect 44 were missing, but Jody and James did a really fine job. And the newcomers to the label (DAVI being the standout imo) really set the tone moving forward. Can't wait for Deep 09!
Tom Middletons track my favourite so emotional
I love this part of this volume very much. I don’t know how James is doing a good mix better than Jody. Nothing just listen it! 😌🎧🎶
Disagree, I prefer the dynamics of the 2nd disc.
This is seriously off the charts good! Probably a career high. It's beautiful mix that is relaxing, groovy, intimate and takes you on a journey. THIS is why I still love electronic music at 41 years of age.....been listening all my life and will continue to listen.
have someone some suggestions for som kind of music like this? ...cuz i listened today to volume 11, and was disapointed how much trancey it become, ..this volume was absolutely stellar
Anything from James Grant in Anjunadeep series is this laid back too
@@thefunkybassist9916 James grant and Jody wisternoff together or as individuals can do no wrong. They are sonically the same person, in fact calling eachother the other’s musical soulmate. Cheers ❤️🖖🏻
Old but so damn gold! Still to this day one of the best CD's I've ever owned!
love to all over the world. from the UK
Best compilation of the 5 last years to me.. still coming back to this one sometimes, every single tunes worth the listen
Universal Solution stole the show, just a shame he won't be in 09
Yes. His were my favorite tracks on all compilations. DAVI's tracks were beyond belief as well.
He’ll be back to steal another one =]
Love the cascades of piano at the beginning, and with the strings coming in beneath them--well, thank you.
My favourite compilation
a wonderful masterpiece there are some parts that i do not care for such as the beginning intro and somebody but the bad makes the good even More wonderful Overall a fantastic Compilation deep ,melodic and Transcendent this first cd or you tupe i tunes has lots of heavenly moments and some boring bits to make the heavenly moments even more bliss i even like the not so nice bits now as an intro to the best bits of this cd one r part one
cd to is even beater
Thank you for posting this. I just heard the Davi track on DI.FM, and I was trying to find that and the track after it, which I could only hear the beginning of the segue...
Davi has a ton of tracks on ITunes. I own all of them- I love him so much.
So much memories... Love this Mix
Always vibin to this compilation ❤️
Still banging in 2019!!!
Tom Middleton - WYV AUH CHU - but this and 06 mix are phenomenal
Yo creo que esto suena realmente excelente ❤️

But why does everybody write only about Jody, but not also about Grant? ( Me too actually. Honestly to say I think, that the best pieces are Jody's)
This CD is amazing however CD 2 let's it down for me
Release date says 22nd July 2013
its an old anjunadeep album. Not sure why they re-uploaded the continuous mix, maybe to hype up the new album or something idk
43:43 Dusky - Nobody Else
Boooooooring and repetitive....
Agreed, Solarity put out much better stuff than Dusky. It must've been an intentional shift
