My team lost and walked my dog in cold rain, I turned to this drink. Strong and seasonal. Forgot to make cinnamon syrup. Threw a cinnamon stick in the shaker instead. Turned out pretty great and forgot about my day.
Laird’s makes a third product, which in my opinion is the best of both worlds. Their Straight 86 is straight apple brandy, just lowered in proof. Cheers!
While not a Mai Tai, I recently created an apple pie drink that's very close to this one. I use 1.5 oz. of the Laird's Straight Apple Brandy, .5 oz. Licor 43, .75 oz. lemon juice, .5 oz. orgeat, and .25 oz. cinnamon syrup. I'll have to try this Mai Tai version soon. Thanks!
Made this for Thanksgiving with a homemade pecan orgeat as suggested. Very nice drink. Way more balanced than I expected, and I love the notes from the Allspice. Going to keep this in my rotation!
Great drink Derrick. I feel like compared to most of your Mai tais that I’m now accustomed to this one isn’t as lethal. Maybe I’ll try adding 1/2 ounce of lemon hart 151 to the next one. My wife who usually thinks Mai tais are too strong loved this one
I made this one this evening. My only subs were plain Orgeat and I used ED12 and Applejack. I thought it worked great! I'll have to add making some pecan Orgeat and try it again. Cheers!
Fortunately I can get calvados apple brandy made in canada, one is barrel strength which I think will be great here. Can't wait to try this!! Might add a few dashes of pecan bitters or smoke apple bitters
Wish you called it the Apple Pie Tai ! Jokes aside, looks great!
Every month is Mai Tai month!

Very original, thanks! I calculate 2 1/4 oz booze to 1 1/2 oz non-booze...that's super strong.
As always, a treat to sit at your bar and watch you at your craft. Bon Apple Tai! Hey, that's a good name for a cocktail.... ™️

They have a couple specialty bottles as well that I’ve occasionally seen. I bet they’re all good!
Def making it tonight. xo
ETA: It's really freaking good. I used regular orgeat, Laird's bonded and Plantation OFTD.
Great recipe, I am going to serve at a dinner party this week. Swapping Demerara rum for Plantation OFTD took it to another level, IMHO.

Absolutely delicious! Grated a bit of nutmeg on top.
I want to try incorporating a miso syrup into this

Lairds does make a Applejack that is 100% apple brandy Applejack86 which surprise surprise is 86 proof so a good match to the Hamilton 86
The Holidays just got more fun.
Just finished a bottle of calvados. This is a tasty looking excuse to get another one😛

Made and enjoyed. Going to add it to the recipe book.

Very nice, looking forward to making this.
(American) Apple Brandy is pretty hard to get here in Europe. Is it comparable to Calvados?
Yes. Any type of apple brandy should do well as an alternative.
I bougt applejack but is there a lot off difference in tast if i buy the 100% besides more alcohol ?
There will be difference in the overall apple taste. Applejack is essentially Apple Brandy cut down with Vodka.
@@makeanddrink Thanks 👍
