It's really funny we had the pretty much same timeline haha. We had been back in NY for 5 years before we moved back to Orlando in November when my company went 100% remote too. So glad we're all living our best lives in Orlando!!!!!!!

I have to say, I just found your channel right about the time you moved here and I have enjoyed catching up on your lives. I am an Anglophile who has never set foot in the UK, YET, (I have high hopes after this pandemic is over and already have an entire itinerary planned of all the awesome English places I want to see, from Buckingham Palace to Abbey Road to the Tower of London and everything in between!! LOL!), I have lived in Orlando my entire life, I have been an annual passholder for over 30 years, I was a cast member for 12 and I am married to a Filipino so ... When I saw the house in the video I fell in love with it and was happy to see in your other videos that you guys chose the Dr.Philips house. We ended up going with Dr. Phillips's house as well so thanks for the great video series on choosing your venue. Do you have any tips that made your wedding easier choosing that venue or leading up to/ the day of? Thanks in advance. Love your channel!!!! .
Hi there, congratulations on your engagement! We are still, to this day, over the moon that we picked the Dr Phillips house! Some tips... stay in the turret room if you can for the best dress/getting ready shots! We rented that room for the night prior to and after our wedding. Take photos in as many spots as possible - there are so many great ones! We paid for an extra hour of time so we could continue the party, as well as the premium bar option. Oh, and visit the bar at the Grand Bohemian if you want some kind of after party - you can walk there from the Dr Phillips House!

Stasios Italian deli in the Milk district, they are from New York. Firebirds in winter park. Sevenbites in Orlando. And Linda’s La cantina steak house. All places with great food. The way to cook is figure a week of a theme and use that as a guide to cook like one night of Chinese, one of Italian you know that type thing. And when you two are together make like steak or something you can share. That’s how I do it.

Coming from someone from the northeast we tend to have higher rents up here. In MA your lucky to get a decent apartment for less then $1500 a month and sometimes $1500 only gets you a one bedroom. Whereas in Florida you seem to get more bang for your buck in the housing aspect anyway. Also coming from MA (and I am sure the same as in NY) is how is the healthcare down there? That would be my biggest worry is finding good healthcare here in MA we have some of the best hospitals in the country and coming from that not knowing that's also a big question.
Agreed, I was thinking the same. Mills and colonialtown have great restaurants, especially authentic Asian food. Mamak is similar to Hawkers but I tend to prefer Mamak, the authentic Asian restaurants are number one though. The areas between there and Winter Park have so many good restaurants and I love the breakfast at Briarpatch on Park Ave.
@@milesandpages we just went to Briarpatch last weekend for the first time! It was great! We'll definitely head towards Mills next time we're looking for some good Asian cuisine - sounds like the place to be! Thank you! :)

One question I have is... With John not having employment until after you arrived. Did that impact you guys when applying for apartments? Did you have to pay a larger deposit or anything being unemployed and applying? Or was Kelsey's salary enough. And how much do you think is needed to relocate from the northeast to Florida?
Great question. We were fortunate that it did not impact us applying at all. There are definitely a few variables that will impact the cost of relocating: a) how you plan to physically make the move, b) do you have a job lined up already before relocating, c) what are you looking for in an apartment/location, d) are you traveling alone or bringing family, and e) will you bring furniture or start over, as we did? Just some things I'd consider that definitely impacted the decisions we made but also played a role in the overall moving expenses. Furnishing our apartment from scratch was definitely the biggest expense for us but might not be for others!
Soup dumplings are at chuan lu garden on colonial or hawkers over by the science center. Dim sum go to lam garden in downtown Orlando which really is the better place in town.
So nice to have you both back! You both seem so happy with your lives in FL. :) This video was so informative! My fiance and I hope to move to FL one day since he is also now 100% a remote worker! If you don't mind me asking, was it difficult getting approved for the apartment with just the one salary when you applied? Just curious since I would probably be finding a job after the move. (Also, we LOVE Hello Fresh, too! We get a new box pretty much every week. Such good food!)
Thank you Eileen! It's been a whirlwind 6 months for sure. So glad you found it informative! That's a great question! Fortunately we had no issues getting approved, my salary covered the leasing company's requirements so that was helpful. And YES, we've been living on Hello Fresh meals lately!

SUCH A GREAT Q&A! GREAT FL INFO! as a newbie 3 years from NJ to FL, I agree that anyone looking to move here should visit AND research. DO NOT move here off of a couple Disney vacations...once you move here, work and life happens so you're not going to spend alot of time at Disney, it still must be planned. There are sooo many different cities within the counties near the parks, Google is your friend. DO NOT move here if you aren't used to different ethnicities, if that bothers you stay where you are lol 😆JS(just saying). If you're used to taking mass transit fast (like in NY or Philly) its NOT fast in FL, you WILL need a car (or use uber/lyft). Jobs pay less so if you're "chasing" money 💰Orlando/surrounding areas probably won't work for you.... PLEASE DO NOT bring rude/rushing attitudes here because its still the South so things/people move slower/nicer in stores, etc (IMHO). The purpose of moving to FL should be about the Sun🌞, enjoying life, the BEAUTIFUL 😍 beaches (1-4 hours away) and parks, enjoying the time/people you're with. THANKS GUYS for a FANTASTIC video!! That would be my biggest worry is finding good healthcare here in MA we have some of the best hospitals in the country and coming from that not knowing that's also a big question.

Agreed, I was thinking the same. Mills and colonialtown have great restaurants, especially authentic Asian food. Mamak is similar to Hawkers but I tend to prefer Mamak, the authentic Asian restaurants are number one though. The areas between there and Winter Park have so many good restaurants and I love the breakfast at Briarpatch on Park Ave.

One question I have is... With John not having employment until after you arrived. Did that impact you guys when applying for apartments? Did you have to pay a larger deposit or anything being unemployed and applying? Or was Kelsey's salary enough.
And how much do you think is needed to relocate from the northeast to Florida?
Great question. We were fortunate that it did not impact us applying at all. There are definitely a few variables that will impact the cost of relocating: a) how you plan to physically make the move, b) do you have a job lined up already before relocating, c) what are you looking for in an apartment/location, d) are you traveling alone or bringing family, and e) will you bring furniture or start over, as we did? Just some things I'd consider that definitely impacted the decisions we made but also played a role in the overall moving expenses. Furnishing our apartment from scratch was definitely the biggest expense for us but might not be for others!

Soup dumplings are at chuan lu garden on colonial or hawkers over by the science center. Dim sum go to lam garden in downtown Orlando which really is the better place in town.

Actually you can now use the Florida resident discount now. It’s not that much off but it works and you can use it on annual passes I think.

If you don't mind me asking, was it difficult getting approved for the apartment with just the one salary when you applied? Just curious since I would probably be finding a job after the move.

Thank you Eileen! It's been a whirlwind 6 months for sure. So glad you found it informative! That's a great question! Fortunately we had no issues getting approved, my salary covered the leasing company's requirements so that was helpful. And YES, we've been living on Hello Fresh meals lately!

SUCH A GREAT Q&A! GREAT FL INFO! as a newbie 3 years from NJ to FL, I agree that anyone looking to move here should visit AND research. DO NOT move here off of a couple Disney vacations...once you move here, work and life happens so you're not going to spend alot of time at Disney, it still must be planned. There are sooo many different cities within the counties near the parks, Google is your friend. DO NOT move here if you aren't used to different ethnicities, if that bothers you stay where you are lol 😆JS(just saying). If you're used to taking mass transit fast (like in NY or Philly) its NOT fast in FL, you WILL need a car (or use uber/lyft). Jobs pay less so if you're "chasing" money 💰Orlando/surrounding areas probably won't work for you.... PLEASE DO NOT bring rude/rushing attitudes here because its still the South so things/people move slower/nicer in stores, etc (IMHO). The purpose of moving to FL should be about the Sun🌞, enjoying life, the BEAUTIFUL 😍 beaches (1-4 hours away) and parks, enjoying the time/people you're with. THANKS GUYS for a FANTASTIC video!!
