I remember you saying a long time ago that the lead singer for Skrillex is a scientologist. The church is letting him say that he isn't. They might do the same for Emily.
@@PeterFindlay-xi3fhbro, you wanna accuse people of having skeletons in their closet IN DEFENSE of scientology? I'd say that's the pot calling the kettle black. Also, you're probably getting your comments deleted because you're spamming rampantly in defense of a proved human trafficking cult, that's called spreading misinformation and the channel owner has every right to delete a comment, let alone ones that are trying to push a bad faith narrative like yours. Find a better cause to devote your life to.
@@kathyteman6102the lead singer for Skrillex.... my friend, Sonny Moore is the only member of the "band" Skrillex, because he's a DJ/producer, and Skrillex is not a band. He is a vocalist too though, so you sorta got that part right. Also I'd like a source to back up your claim, mostly out of curiosity as to how scientology would be okay with one of their members publicly lying about their status as a member to save face, when it's not actually hard to figure out if someone is a scientologist or not (especially a famous musician), and that "tactic" seems like it would actually hurt scientology more than anything, since they're essentially saying "yeah, scientology is harmful and not something you want to be known for being a part of." You can even just name the article/website you found it on and I'll go from there, I know posting direct links on UA-cam can be spotty.
Ok, here goes: I am a child SA survivor. Linkin Park, and Chester specifically, were a huge part of helping me find the courage to come forward. Every thing that has come out about Emily Armstrong... it's honestly beyond upsetting and is very retraumatizing. I do not use that word lightly. Does LP realize what they are doing to their legacy and what they are putting their fans through?
I have a similar situation and agree with where you are coming from. Linkin Park was a safe space for me, a place that I could sit with my trauma/emotions and feel heard/comforted. This current situation is very triggering and no longer feels safe for me. Things could change in the future but currently, I agree, it’s upsetting and disappointing.
Similar situation. I listened to a ton of LP while I was processing everything i wen trough as a child. It really helped me, even before i knew what chester went trough, the songs resonated with me a lot. Seeing someone who shits all over that legacy is heartbreaking.
A scientologists as the lead of the band is so tone-deaf, I still cant believe it, the nerve! Chester was very vocal against human trafficking and children exploitation this is a slap to his memory. He was making a documentary with Chris Cornell about this. RIP Chester & Chris.
Post for LP fans: QUESTION for Emily: If someone is having thoughts of self-harm, do you support them seeking out help from a mental health professional like a psychologist or psychiatrist? (If she has ANY ties to Scientology, she CANNOT and WILL NOT say yes)
She's a 2nd gen scientologist. That's her life, her whole family are members. Even if she says yes, she's spent 30+ years (however old she is) believing that depressed people who take meds and therapy are weak minded people. She's literally the worst possible person to replace a suicide victim with.
People acting like Emily is a victim of the fans, who are demanding that she not participate in a family destroying/ human trafficking cult, is ridiculous. The cult of scientology has left piles of victims in it's wake, and continues to victimize more. I'm sure OSA is trying to snow the fan base with cute little shore stories...
My husband is friends with and grew up with Mike Shinoda. This is unbelievable coming from someone who has insight from so many different angles. There's no easy answer here it's as easy as it is complicated. I do know SA & mental health is a very big part of the Linkin Park brand. There is valid reason for concern here. Money and support matters. I genuinely feel Mike and others are blinded by perceived importance and talent. So it so clearly seems. I don't know if they cared to understand the full impact of this choice by their management and band members. Linkin Park cover bands to this day still incorporate and honor Chester in a profound way. I saw a well-known LP cover in June in San Diego. To think this decision would not cause waves this big--is willful ignorance. I sincerely hope there's a way to do right, by all, in the end. This is not a good fit and I hope they change their mind here. Morals over money is my position, firmly.
So many people on the LP sites think this is because they hired a woman. What Linkin Park does not understand is by hiring a Scientologist to sing the lyrics that saved so many people's lives, they have taken away our safe space. I don't feel comfortable with or trust someone that has been taught to believe that my mental health issues are garbage or of my own doing. Linkin Park is no longer a place where I feel seen or understood. I wish Mike Shinoda understood that the lyrics have lost their meaning now.
The only true way to measure the success of this band is if they come selling out shows and a lot of music sales. They can't rely on merch anymore. This is a marketing disaster that the band brought on themselves. Bad advice of whoever is advising.
Putting in someone who literally thinks it's OK to harass and look down upon victims to replace someone who advocated for victims....and they thought it would be OK.???? The beauty of this is that it is opening up a whole new platform for awareness about the horrific abuse of Scientology. I hope that all those who felt moved and supported by Chester and LINKIN PARK will use that energy now to join the advocacy for exposing the mafia child abusing cult of Scientology. I think Chester would be proud. (PS I'm just waiting for the classic Scientology defense to kick in " you are attacking my religion". Which only gives more room for more exposure of the fact that they are NOT a religion in any sense of the word. No one is attacking religion....they are exposing ABUSE !!! )
I sadly cannot stand her singing. I love LP but she is not up to the singing part. Knowing this woman's background just adds salt to the wound. It will go on without me. I will always have the old LP songs to comfort me. Wishing Chester's family well through their continued pain losing a father, husband, too soon.
Thank you for making all these videos! As a huge LP fan and someone who was so hyped watching the livestream announcement, I was fully ready to buy tickets to see them if there was a closer show to me. It’s been super confusing digging through all the info on social media around Emily, but your videos have been very concise, factual, and nuanced. As of today I’ve unfollowed LP on all socials because I can’t support the moves they’re making, which hurts as they got me through so many hard times.
Everytime there is a viral story involving Scientology. I always refer people to Growing Up In Scientology. In the comments section of other videos. It's easier than trying to pass on all the extra details and context myself. You're just too damn good, A-A-Ron!
The thing is, some people can still be so much in denial. Some people are willing to accept and follow LPs decision, and Emily as a vocalist for LP, so blindly. I shared one of Aaron's videos with one person, and all I got was "that's biased, but here's an interesting article (inserts something from Vulture)". Some fandoms can be religions in and of themselves.
I really cant believe they didnt know this would be a sore issue being SA basically plagued chesters life and was the root of what destroyed his life. I think they dropped the ball here.
No matter what she does from here on, I’m going to have a hard time believing or respecting her because of what she did to those victims who have gone through hell for years. FT
I think she can make it right. Remember, she is a victim herself - she was raised in this shit. She was at a disadvantage forming a coherent worldview growing up, but a lot of people have gotten out and spoken up. She COULD do the same. I doubt she will, but she COULD.
@@yourworstfan That’s the problem, she can but won’t. I hope I’m wrong. Plenty of people have been victims of hideous things but don’t attack other victims. I get that she doesn’t want to have to go through disconnection with her family. Nobody would, but plenty of people have. And she could start by telling the truth about childhood in Scientology. It was not sunshine and lollipops, and she knows that.
Yeah .. as someone who has gone through SA abuse as a child and knowing how Chester fought so hard to help kids, i can't support mike anymore. His music helped me cope with the trauma i unfortunately live with and i know i'm not the only one who feels like i do about the situation. It's just disrespectful.
You know, I haven’t been paying any attention to all of this Scientology stuff regarding Emily, but this is pretty messed up. I can definitely now see why many fans are not happy about this.
The best thing about your comments about the whole situation is that you sincerely wish Linkin Park and Emily well. It's obvious that you would like it to be different, but it's not, that's why you're talking about it. I appreciate it
As a long time fan of Linkin Park I was totally okay with replacing Chester but not with someone like this. Chester is Rolling in his grave. Nothing would change my mind on choosing her other than leaving and directly bashing the organization for their views on mental health and denouncing Danny fully
U are just too delusional man. Chester is gone.... It is time to move on. Emily and Mike and the gang is the new linkin park. The music always brilliant as long Mike is there.
@@jw4792 I mean, lots of people asked. Fans, former sciento's, and more are having an ongoing discussion. And no, I refuse to separate someone from their religion, when the religion they support requires the mental, physical, and sexual abuse of children. Their policies dictate exposing children to graphic, abusive sexual content at a young age. They mandate child auditors prod for greater and greater graphic detail from their adult auditee when that adult describes to that child how they want to r*pe them. The child is not permitted to react, or to stop. When the child is subsequently SA'd by that adult, they are relentlessly grilled and told it is their own fault. Scientology does not even believe that children exist. They are ancient beings, merely in a new body. Perhaps this is why they also have no problem removing children from their families, placing them in hotels to live for years with known sexual predators. Anybody who reports child SA to police is excommunicated and frequently subjected to ongoing threats, harassment, doxxing, being attacked at home and work. Scientology policy requires COS inflict ruinous consequences on their lives (aka "fair gaming"). Seeking mental health assistance leads to similar results. Su**ide is not considered death, and it is *promoted* to people in mental health crisis as a practical and easy solution to their problems. They claim you just come back in a new, young body, to start again. So no, in this case, when someone remains silent on these horrific abuses, when they protect the church, when their behaviour is dictated by COS, when they contribute even $1 to COS, I refuse to separate the religion from the person. It's disturbing that you can.
I'm glad we're living in a time when cult affiliations supercede celebrity or celebrity endorsement. Screw scientology and LP for endorsing it in any way. Especially like this. If Emily won't denounce scientology, then my respect for LP is gone, carry on.
Tbh, if she made a genuine apology and said she wasn't a scientologist. Then I would give them a chance. Sad that in her statement she never once said "I'm sorry"
She was born into the cult of scientology.her parents and family are active members as is she.scientology is an American radical covert terrorist group hiding behind religion.done with Linkin Park and will only listen to the original with Chester.
At the beginning of Linkin Park, the label spoke to Chester in private and tried to get him to drop the rest of the guys. Chester told them to go eff themselves. Mike has told this story. Yet, Mike and the rest of the band just betrayed Chester.
@@tommystrickland2861 That's such a trash opinion....Firstly, they care because they are a commercial enterprise, they need fans to make $$ you genius. Secondly, telling someone to "go start their own band" if you hate LP is something I'd expect from someone who peaked intellectually in middle school. Lastly, you're obviously cool with a rape apologist and proud member of a cult as the new lead singer, so anything you say is irrelevant you fucking clown.
In case you didn’t know, Mike founded LP before Chester joined. Why blame him? Yes, of course he cared about Chester. Why wouldn’t he? They both were like brothers
Why blame him? He chose to hire a singer to replace Chester’s role & that person has been a life long member of a “church” that believes mental health professionals are quacks & dangerous. LP attracted SO many fans who had their own mental health & childhood SA struggles & connected w/ Chester due to him having similar life experiences. The band has openly included lyrics r/t mental health issues, so how could Mike hire someone to sing those SAME lyrics who is a member of a church that doesn’t support mental health therapy or medication for anyone. That’s a HUGE slap in the face to Chester & many loyal LP fans.
I wanna raise this point as a NON L.P. fan who loves C.B. and wholeheartedly supports what he stood for. Mike didn't ruin the band now... he always did as soon as he opened his mouth. Imagine sharing the spotlight with someone who, not only is much more talented than you but also, is a much better person than you. We can't discount the possibility that years of repressed resentment boiled over and would eventually compel someone to actively tarnish their nemesis. This sort of behaviour is more common with people that are very meek and agreeable who also crave attention. Given M.B.'s treatment of C.B.'s son and handling of the situation, the P.R. mismanagement, the potential ties and general attitudes... I'm starting to become convinced he is doing this purposefully and with gusto. But if that's the case?... So much work to take the crown Only to burn the kingdom down
@@unapologeticallyJax All of these hypothesis, even though are kinda far-fetched, can't be discounted. We all have a shadow side and repress stuff and it eventually comes back out but uglier. With celebs, it's harder. Since they have to maintain an impossible facade to placate the public. But I dunno... I feel like Dave had a different relationship with Kurt. We'll never know 'cause in the end it doesn't even matter. xD
If you choose to let Chester speak through one of his children at least choose one of those that don't publish conspiracy theories about chester being k1lled and his family being in on it 😮💨
@@noirblackschwarz what family members did u accuse of murd3ring his father lmao! Sam said her self her and Draven were scared and fled California, Chester’s mother, sister, father, and brother in law all believe something more sinister happened, soo um yeah who’s he accusing of taken his father out in his family ?? Clearly not Tyler Lily or Lila they were all very small children, so again um who? I went through the kids his sister , his mom and dad, he never once said Talinda was there and kill3d him so PLEASE enlighten us! Because if u look at Jaime’s posts back from Oct of last year there’s a video that clearly states TaLinda and her and Chester’s kids were in the cabin along with Church when Chester left that evening soooo let me know when u find out which family member Jaime accused
@@Justice4ChesterBe I did not accuse anyone. Jaime is the conspiracy theorist, not me. Watch his videos, they're all over the internet. In one of his videos he claimed that Talinda supposedly told him about his younger brother saying something along the lines of "we have to go to dad, he is in danger" the very night he died. And that Talinda covered this up and then acted as if she never told him that. There were also videos of him claiming that both Rob and Mike have information about what really happened but are keeping it secret and shit like that. So yeah, according to him they're all in on it.
@@noirblackschwarz um pretty sure u said Jaime said his family was in on the murd3r?? Brad was a band member, but because he said Tyler was upset (which he did apologize to Tyler if that wasn’t true) so it was never a fact that happened he was saying what he was told. But that’s not calling Talinda out on being a part of anything he was asking why did Tyler think his dads life was in danger, and he was talking about Brad not being there for him when he knew what TaLinda and others were mentally doing to him.
@@noirblackschwarz Sure, he's got some weird theories, but that's entirely irrelevant. Point out to me where he is factually incorrect or morally wrong in the article.
I will not respect her until she truly apologized to the victims of Danny Masterson. I can’t listen to the new music. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. To the people who likes her voice that is your right. Chester was a true advocate. He was amazing and a heart filled singer. His own son said you Linkin Park stepped on his grave during Suicide Prevention month.
Mikes new band needs a new name! This donald duck singer should not be allowed to sing Chesters songs if she isnt a replacement. Chester screamed his pain! And this scientologist is mocking him! New era? What a joke Mike.
@@Jess-3675 nope and notice how she says doesn’t condone abuse or violence against WOMEN um okay the lead singers role u just took over was a victim of SA , but that wasn’t an apology it was a response to cover her gross ass
@@JuliaOConnell-k6v i’ve been a LINKIN PARK fan since I was in high school. I was bullied and picked on and Linkin Park was the one band that got me through almost everything. Chester’s son hit the nail on the head. Emily is a great performer, she sounds great in LP but she is a vile human being that betrays the more than two decades of trust we put in LP.
@@tdolan500 exactly if they even maybe would have made a speech about Chester, like it’s been a tough 7 years no one will ever replace chester we know that but…. But no nothing other then and in the spot of Chester Bennington this afternoon is all of u, like seriously that was supposed to be your “brother” I thought & no Chester doesn’t need to be acknowledged all the time on every interview BUt announcing a new lead singer and NOT one word about the man who was taken from us and endured SA, stood up for Trafficking, had depression, childhood trauma, etc, and there singer now is a fucking Scientologist who just up till 2 days ago was following Danny Masterson! She stands for everything Chester stood up AGAINST
I would agree she is a good singer but not for LP. She thinks she can win over the fans with her lame ass apology. That apology was a PR stunt to try and save her ass
And the funny thing is, you couldn't throw a rock in LA without hitting 5 singers who would sound just as good and have just as good of a stage presence who ISN'T like that.
@@Slim3269. exactly what I said couldn’t even mention the victims name just said how she stands up for the FEMALE victims FEMALE okay what about male victims like ummm the first lead singer of LP Chester the one was was SA’ed , had depression stood up for child trafficking no just females it’s alll in plain sight they know exactly what there doing
Does it really matter when everyone is 80 yrs old. Nobody gives a shit, just move on and stop complaining. There weak ass singer died, what do you expect them to do. Start your own band.
If Emily came out distancing herself from Scientology, I wouldn’t believe her at this point. The damage is done. I have zero respect for Mike, I’m beyond disappointed. Not only are they 💩ing on Chester and his legacy, they’re telling the fans they don’t care. They don’t care about us. They’ve taken what we’ve built together and burned it. For what? We don’t care that they hired a woman. We care that they hired someone who unapologetically supported a predator and harassed his victims.
This whole thing is way too much to stomach for me. Chester was outspoken when it comes to mental health care, so were Mike and his wife. Chester was a SA survivor (at least for decades) himself. My head is trying to make sense of it, why they choose a mental-health-care-denier, a victim-shamer, a bully. I try to somehow reconcile it with the picture I had of the band prior, it doesn't work. I'm sad, deeply disappointed and angry.
I just feel like there are so many good vocalists out there who would’ve been a better choice over Emily and all her baggage. LP really screwed this up.
Rosario the lead singer of a portaguse linkin park tribute band would have been a great fit. His vocals are sooo close to Chesters, he would have no issue covering LPs older songs whilst they could have written new material
The problem with Emily's 'Apology' is that it isn't an apology at all. It's an explanation and a blame-shift. Nowhere in it did the phrase 'I'm sorry' appear, she didn't acknowledge any wrongdoing besides 'misjudging' someone, as if to say 'I'm a good person who was misled by a bad one.' Now hearing Shinoda's take being 'Agree with me or get out' - just wow. He's hoping for a rank in the church, no doubt in my mind.
and if she apologized and mentioned his name, people would still be mad that it wouldn't be enough or anything, no matter what they do, its not enough, even cutting ties with her now wouldn't be enough for people anymore
@@Barooth100it might not calm the shitstorm straight away, but it would go some way of calming the situation. Instead of raging people would settle down and look at Emily with a suspicious side eye instead, then over time if no more crap goes on, it would settle completely. This non apology has made things worse!
The fans are not happy. This is not a good ending. She isn't singing or screaming she is screeeeeeching. Someone thought this was gonna fly. Mike is delusional. She has Kim Carne's voice.
Anyone in this comments section who is saying... separate the church from the person... it was a long time ago... would you say that if a rapist was speaking about the hardships they've had being previously raped? Would you say... separate the rape from the person? It was a long time ago get over it? Emily singing the words Chester sang about his struggles with mental health is disgusting!!
It wouldn't be enough if she distanced herself from Danny because she is still a Scientologist. The problem people seem to be missing is that the majority of Linkin Park fans loved this band because they related to their lyrics on mental health issues. When Chester passed away in the way he did, what people may not know is that there were fans that followed suit. So mental health is a big thing with these fans. Now, they have brought in a singer who is a Scientologist with all the effed up beliefs that they have including the belief that psychiatry is evil. Also, Chester was SA'ed for years as a child. Emily represents everything Chester was against. A lot of what Chester was fighting against, I can't put in a youtube comment. So this is much deeper and problematic than just Danny. It is the most disrespectful thing this band could have done to Chester's legacy. Sadly, they have die hard fans who don't yet see what is happening. I have supported this band since day one and I have met Chester several times but I will not support this. Those defending what LP has done have said "It's not Chester's band" and they are right. It is Scientology's band now.
But do you think that are her personal belives? Give a listen to some of her songs like Suicidal, Unamerican, We are What You Say or Sorry for it All. Maybe it's the gateway for her to finally leave this all behind? Let's wait and see, she did not support rapist, she supported a friend and let's give her a benefit of a doubt for that (forgetting to unfollow someone on IG is blown out of proportion, cutting ties is really important). Being born into scientology is definitely fucked up and cuting ties with family and friends is hard to do, but this position in LP might give her leverage to finally leave this all behind. Let's wait and see instead of bashing, they first public concert is in two days and let's hope there will be statement there. Chester's son is conspiracy theorist and someone with domestic violence tendencies, I wouldn't take his word for granted.
@@KrzeK what you said about Jamie is exactly what I've been saying. You put this all perfectly. Everyone is jumping to a bold conclusion about a person they don't know personally and hearing things said about her from people they don't know.
"...the majority of Linkin Park fans loved this band because they related to their lyrics on mental health issues." this is an absolute BS and you don't need to make it up. The majority of people love LP for music and personalities. The majority of people don't have mental problems. And people like you are mostly play pretend having one. You are just attention seekers.
I cut off my 2 older sisters last year for becoming Facebook friends with my childhood SAer...i have ZERO problem not listening to her music or LPs music with her
People are planning to attack Jaime at the Linkin Park show on behalf of ‘Emily and friends’. He just posted it on his IG. It’s disgusting how the so called ‘fans’ are behaving
That’s my fear, a decision like that doesn’t come without a group like Scientology coercing it. Feels like the cult worked its way into the band during the trauma of Chester’s passing. Now they call the shots.
@CorpseFlower-t5y that's mostly the info going around really. Its words of others at the end of the day. Lots of people are cementing their own version of truth about people they don't know personally.
@VinAnrba Mike did an interview in 2020 with news media outlet called tone deaf, explaining the bands beginnings. I'm going to quote what he said. "We were rehearsing in this little room in Hollywood. And when I say ‘Hollywood,’ it was the grossest part of Hollywood,” "At the time, Hollywood and Vine had prostitutes and drug dealers…. and a bunch of Scientologists. There was a place that was calling itself a reading centre, to teach you how to read, but all of the books were Scientology books, which is really kind of dark,”
I wonder if this will shut up all the "fans" who keep saying, "Well Chester's widow approved, and she obviously knew him better than you!" PS, Aaron, I saw you first on Leah's show, but it was your interview with Lex Fridman that made me find you on UA-cam. You are an excellent educator on this subject, and you always come across as super genuine and relatable.
Scientology needs celebrities, artists, and musicians to bring in that $$$$$$$$$$$. That's all. Times have changed and the internet knows all. Word is getting out, finally! Keep blasting it from the rooftops! Interviewers should bring it up in all interviews. Cults should not be protected. The web keeps getting bigger and bigger with connections and ties to dirty shit that the people who support and give their hard earned $ to should know about. If people still want to support after knowing all the facts then that is up to them, but it speaks volumes about a persons character! STOP TURNING A BLIND EYE TO DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR!
When I left the cult I was grown up and went NC with my birth giver, I listened to a lot of music and one of my favorite bands for decades was Linkin Park. Now I feel like I can no longer listen to one of my favorite bands because it’s been tainted by the very thing so many of us had left. And that breaks my heart for Chester. Being in the music industry I too got to meet some great people and I would loved to have met Chester and this just solidified my hate for so many of people within the industry who hurt and abuse people.

Thank you. I officially have had it. For me Linkin Park is over in a bad way. I'm not feeling like jumping and singing at a show with a person who is this creepy.
In her ‘apology’ she kind of glosses over her behavior at his hearing, making it sound like all she did was show up at the hearing and sit quietly in the courtroom in support of him as an ‘observer.’ Kind of left out the part where she actively harassed one of the victims.
Not only cause of Chester's legacy but his family has a right 2B upset Don't they get Royalties/a percentage of what LP makes ? And Where's the drummer Rob ?
I'm really concerned that days goes by and they haven't adressed this stuff about Emily. Let's even pretend that these are just a bunch of false accusations against her. Shouldn't they stand up for her in one of their official accounts? Anything? What she said isn't enough. It's just like they hoped everyone forgets in a matter of days. I don't think so.
Unfortunately, that's exactly what will happen. Like Aaron always says Scientology is a very small world. Nobody cares about Scientology except ex Scientologist, Scientologist, and never ins. We are a small crowd. They're going to see a progressive gay woman with fantastic vocals fill in a spot in a band that they've missed for a long time. But at least all the noise is bringing awareness. It's just one more step down the road. But this band is not going to let her go and is not going to address this properly. At least that's my expectation.
What’s wild is that out of 7 billion people, only 50,000 of them are Scientologists, and yet Lincoln Park goes with her as the new lead singer. Why? What do they hope to gain from this? Free publicity from the controversy? How long will that last??
That post about taking away Emily's religion is taking away her rights . The TRUTH is Scientology has already done that . People do not have free will in this religion they are leveraged with friends and family and if you don't do what they say all the friends and family cut them off the proceed to harass the person. These people just don't get it
I feel like calling OSA the "dirty tricks department" injects an unwarranted level of competency and precision into what they do I usually call it "The Harassment Division" Or "The Troll Squad"
It's crazy how when I saw the LS last Thursday, I thought oh great, I really hope that there isn't ppl crapping on her b/c Emily is a woman ..... this was NOT on my bingo card!! UGH !!!!! This is why we cannot have nice things. It would be so cool if she wasn't tied with so much of this crap. I was really liking her!
Everyone wants her to denounce scientology but does everyone know how hard it is when you're born into it, family deep? Denouncing them publicly would put her under dirt, and not some light dirt either, could danger her family. She's openly gay too, that alone goes against scientology. I think we all need to calm down for a sec.
Surely I disagree with what she did on Masterson's trial, it isn't light especially when you think about what Chester went through. But I believe people can change, and I believe she might've been led astray by the cult. Obviously we don't know and won't know unless something comes up, but I want to believe Mike has evaluated her alongside Phoenix.
And? I am not scientologist but I can tell you I have had death threats when I left my cultush abusive family. When I was in it I was dead anyway. Not physically. Mentally and spiritually. Dead. I got out and I'm the most alive I have ever been in my life. If she doesn't have the balls she doesn't have my respect.
@@Grapula Going to a trial and harassing a rape victim while defending a serial rapist isn't being "led astray", it's being a garbage bag human being. There's no coming back from that even if she left Scientology tomorrow. She chose to go there, she chose to do what she did and these are the consequences of her actions.
It’s also Scientology views on mental health issues. Being that Chester died the way he did, it’s like a slap in the face having a Scientologist take his place . Actually let me clarify that, she’s not taking his place because no one can take his place . So let me rephrase it by saying they’re letting a Scientologist front the band. . I don’t care that people say it’s “mikes band “. Chester will forever be known to me as the face /sound of Linkin Park… this isn’t me discrediting the rest of the band and I’m not saying LP shouldn’t make music, but I don’t know how I feel about Emily performing Chester’s songs . Cant help how I feel and can’t help but think of Emily’s support of Scientology’s stance on so many things, mainly what happens to those who have mental health issues . Tom Cruise saying vitamins/diet/ exercise/ sleep etc is a joke. If that was enough, my husband would not have made 2 attempts and my stepson would not have succeeded in his attempt. . Talking that way is dangerously irresponsible and I agree with those who say it’s disgracing Chester’s memory.
Honestly, Im a LP fan always will be, to me its not about the drama, I dont care about that shit. I just like the music. But what could Emily or LP do to rectify the situation? To be honest, they can do everything in their power to quell the fans and the pissed off people, but its never gonna be enough for them, their always gonna want more. No matter how many time Emily "apologizes" or no matter what response Linkin Park has as a band, remember, Linkin Park is a BAND, not one person. People are gonna want more and its never gonna be enough. Emily can apologize til her throat closes up, people still wont forgive her or give her a chance.
She's a Scientologist. That's enough for me to wash my hands of all of them. Their policies on mental health alone are abusive, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. You know what would be friggin awesome, though? If she announced she left the cult and used her voice to speak out about its atrocities and advocate for victims of abuse. As it is now, they're ALL just Scientology hacks.
I was briefly a part of Mike Shinoda's Discord, and yes, the suicide hotline is mentioned, so I highly doubt that Mike is one. That said, YES I think that is a fantastic question for Emily. A lot of Linkin Park's songs were a cry for help from Chester, there's NO QUESTION about that.
@@TrippleNineSIXBandOfficialmy best friend before he passed away was a songwriter/singer and over half his songs were about my life and experience not his own. Just because you right the song doesn’t mean you experience it.
What happened to MakeChesterProud ? 😿 I never thought in my life I'd hear LP & Scientology in the same sentence. So disappointing. I'm So glad I only got Chester tattoed on my arm. I've always said I waz a diehard LP fan but really it waz Always just Chester.
Doesn't Scientology promote a lot of victim shaming, in the sense that "you attract bad things for some reason blublublu and you're to blame for what happens to you" - question for Emily if that includes the victims of SA?
Oh my word, I don't keep up with the lives of the well-knowns. I just found out this moment that MacKenzie Phillips, who, along with Valerie Bertinelli (who I adore), I grew up with watching One Day At a Time, is Bijoux's sister. You always bring new information, A-A-Ron, tho this is distressing (but not surprising) knowing MacKenzie's past issues with mental health.
As a vocalist, she was good, but not great...Mike, what happened to "Not without Chester... " ? I feel let down by your decision to not only hire a meh vocalist to replace Chester--yes, she can scream, but ten seconds after the song finished I couldn't remember what she sounded like--but to replace him with a Scientologist... I am a childhood rape survivor. (I was four when it happened and I had no support from my mother or father.) I also suffer with bipolar depression, so I could relate to Chester's struggles... I 100 percent get why Chester did what he did. This decision betrays not only Chester, but myself and all of the other LP fans who have been victimized as well. Mike, I thought we were family... Rest in Peace, Chester...Love Major.💜

I'll be at the show at the Kia forum on Wednesday. I bought tickets before I heard what was going on, and while I LOVE Linkin Park and have always wanted to go to one of their concerts since 05, I'm very saddened that all this happened, and I'm not really excited about going anymore. BUT I'll be interested in to see if there's drama there. I'll have my camera ready!
I would love to hear new music from Linkin Park as i've been a fan of the band for years, but hiring Emily Armstrong is just wrong. There's lots of potential singers that have the same values that Chester had and then some. The ball has really been dropped on this one and on some really sensitive nerves.
Emily is just as much a Scientology supporter than Sabrina Carpenter is , Quietly & ignorantly just as dangerous as full members( why not help to stop it?) as Sarge said they need to grow a spine.
Time Stamps:
0:00 - Intro
1:53 - Chester Bennington speaks out
9:26 - Protest at the LINKIN PARK show at the KIA CENTER
11:23 - Cedric Bixler-Zavala speaks out
15:56 - What would be good enough?
19:40 - Questions & Comments
I remember you saying a long time ago that the lead singer for Skrillex is a scientologist. The church is letting him say that he isn't. They might do the same for Emily.

@@kathyteman6102the lead singer for Skrillex.... my friend, Sonny Moore is the only member of the "band" Skrillex, because he's a DJ/producer, and Skrillex is not a band. He is a vocalist too though, so you sorta got that part right.
Also I'd like a source to back up your claim, mostly out of curiosity as to how scientology would be okay with one of their members publicly lying about their status as a member to save face, when it's not actually hard to figure out if someone is a scientologist or not (especially a famous musician), and that "tactic" seems like it would actually hurt scientology more than anything, since they're essentially saying "yeah, scientology is harmful and not something you want to be known for being a part of."
You can even just name the article/website you found it on and I'll go from there, I know posting direct links on UA-cam can be spotty.

I’m so glad that Chester’s son spoke out! What an impact! Thanks again AAron for a wonderful explanation! ❤❤❤ Stacy Toms
Same fam, couldn’t agree more
Similar situation. I listened to a ton of LP while I was processing everything i wen trough as a child. It really helped me, even before i knew what chester went trough, the songs resonated with me a lot.
Seeing someone who shits all over that legacy is heartbreaking.
Exactly he sang of our pain in a very relateable and helped us feel heard
Im so sorry ❤
A scientologists as the lead of the band is so tone-deaf, I still cant believe it, the nerve!
Chester was very vocal against human trafficking and children exploitation this is a slap to his memory.
He was making a documentary with Chris Cornell about this.
RIP Chester & Chris.
Agree!
CC and CB were the best.
Do you know if the documentary was finished?
That's why he got Epstein'ed and died with the signature. Both him and Cornell.
the thing about the documentary has been debunked. They have NEVER been involved in such documentary
I always thought I was big linkin park fan, I found out recently I have always been a Huge Chester Bennington Fan.
YES!!!!!!!❤
I *was* a Mike fan.
This is such a good question and such a good point!! How can she represent the band’s values and lyrics?
Love it.
I would almost pay someone interviewing her on camera, $100, just do to that.
Thank you for this awesome question! I just wrote it in the latest LP Instagram post.
As a Gen-X'er who loved LP and knew how important mental health issues were to Chester, I'm done with them.
I was done when I heard the 6 pack of straight ass they released with this new chick.
The biggest betrayal that Linkin Park can do to Chester. Disgusting. They lost all my respect.
They have an album coming out and a tour starting. Too much money involved now unfortunately.
Actually I think Mike doesn't know all the details about scientology, probably he thinks it's religion like many others
@@anna_grisu At one point he was openly suspicious of them
So many people on the LP sites think this is because they hired a woman.
They're still a place....just the old Linkin Park with Chester.
You said that perfectly.
I hope that all those who felt moved and supported by Chester and LINKIN PARK will use that energy now to
join the advocacy for exposing the mafia child abusing cult of Scientology. I think Chester would be proud.
(PS I'm just waiting for the classic Scientology defense to kick in " you are attacking my religion". Which only gives
more room for more exposure of the fact that they are NOT a religion in any sense of the word. No one is attacking
religion....they are exposing ABUSE !!!
I haven't unfollowed, but simply because somehow there's still fans who have no idea of Emily's background. Gotta keep spreading the word
can't wait for their next hit single 'one step closer to Zenu'
Good one lol 😂
I told Mike he should rename the band to Linkin Cult and the album to From Xenu, he blocked me.
@roguenoxx really???? Do you have a screenshot?
Linkin Park's channel is scrubbing critical comments on their videos. No surprise.
Y’all need to do some reading. There were plenty of witnesses, even law enforcement commented on it.
Bad idea. Who do they think really wants to see them and hear her sing?
Yeah .. as someone who has gone through SA abuse as a child and knowing how Chester fought so hard to help kids, i can't support mike anymore.

it's a shame, she's a pretty good singer
You know, I haven’t been paying any attention to all of this Scientology stuff regarding Emily, but this is pretty messed up. I can definitely now see why many fans are not happy about this.
The best thing about your comments about the whole situation is that you sincerely wish Linkin Park and Emily well. It's obvious that you would like it to be different, but it's not, that's why you're talking about it. I appreciate it
I don’t know about you guys but it’s really really hard not take Chester’s own son seriously.

I guess Linkin Park died with Chester, then 💔
Well Linkin park is dead too me. It died with Chester
Same!
Check out hybrid theory from portagul, awesome LP tribute band, they're doing more to honor Chesters legacy than LP are!!!
No would not be enough….shes a Scientologist and just the fact that they don’t believe in proper mental help.
Hence why they are not able to control their emotions and harass a victim... for speaking out
It wouldn't be enough if she distanced herself from Danny because she is still a Scientologist.

Consider saying Physically Intimidated, they rushed her at the elevator.😢
People are planning to attack Jaime at the Linkin Park show on behalf of ‘Emily and friends’. He just posted it on his IG. It’s disgusting how the so called ‘fans’ are behaving
Shinoda's statement is kist disgraceful and very Scientology like. 'Do not question me...'
That’s my fear, a decision like that doesn’t come without a group like Scientology coercing it. Feels like the cult worked its way into the band during the trauma of Chester’s passing. Now they call the shots.
Not really. It's kind of out of context. And Mike himself has expressed dislike for scientology in the past.
And when I say ‘Hollywood,’ it was the grossest part of Hollywood,”
"At the time, Hollywood and Vine had prostitutes and drug dealers…. and a bunch of Scientologists. There was a place that was calling itself a reading centre, to teach you how to read, but all of the books were Scientology books, which is really kind of dark,”
Fame went to Mike's head along time ago and this is just his pure arrogance!
I wonder if this will shut up all the "fans" who keep saying, "Well Chester's widow approved, and she obviously knew him better than you!"
PS, Aaron, I saw you first on Leah's show, but it was your interview with Lex Fridman that made me find you on UA-cam. You are an excellent educator on this subject, and you always come across as super genuine and relatable.
Linkin park is nuking all the bad truthful comments about emily
I think the apology needs to be good enough to satisfy THE JANE DOEs!!!!!

Former JW who also separate families for “suppressive behaviour” my mom had to choose between me at 13 years old or JW
I was put in foster care
Despite there being proof of SA on me and my two siblings we were not supposed to go to police and when we did we were declared “suppressive”
I was 10 and already was isolated because the rules of JW are you aren’t allowed to be friends with a non - JW. You are taken out of class if there is any Christian holidays like Easter, Halloween,Christmas, Birthdays. We weren’t allowed to join team sports
There was one JW in my elementary school and none in middle or high school. You are ostracized by the students and teachers and your parents tell you - you just need to bring them into the JW and save them. I never believed. Girls aren’t equal to boys in JW but I knew I was just as important as a boy so I left asap. Foster care sucked and not having a relationship with my parents sucked but better than being blinded by wtf that religion is.

Wait.. you said CHESTER was married to a Masterson victim?! Was that a mistake, and supposed to be Cedric? Or did Masterson assault CHESTER’S wife?? Cause that would be a WHOLE other slap in the face. 😧
This makes me emotional. LP has meant so much to so many of us, and this is so hard to witness.

This has brought so much negative press for Scientology they must be going crazy in there.
Not only cause of Chester's legacy but his family has a right 2B upset Don't they get Royalties/a percentage of what LP makes ?
And Where's the drummer Rob ?
Well, i will never support Linkin Park ever again!!
Agreed. All this did is reveal they don't give a crap about Chester or what he was about, they only care about "success."
awww poor baby boy
Even less than that more like 20,000 cult members worldwide. Hmmm 🤔
*8 billion
Scientology needs the publicity, that's why they bounty celebrities to begin with.
That post about taking away Emily's religion is taking away her rights . The TRUTH is Scientology has already done that . People do not have free will in this religion they are leveraged with friends and family and if you don't do what they say all the friends and family cut them off the proceed to harass the person. These people just don't get it
Freedom and religion do not belong in the same sentence

It's crazy how when I saw the LS last Thursday, I thought oh great, I really hope that there isn't ppl crapping on her b/c Emily is a woman ..... this was NOT on my bingo card!! UGH !!!!! This is why we cannot have nice things. It would be so cool if she wasn't tied with so much of this crap. I was really liking her!
Danny's staring at his victims is a Scientology process called "as-is" - to look at something and make it vanish like magic.
Linkin Park really didn’t think this out very well 😂🤦🏻♂️.
Why couldn’t she just lie and say she is out? Does Scientology care?
With that question you only make it clear that you do not know what cult and scientology are.

"Several years ago...". Uh, you mean about a year or two ago? First trial 2022, next in 2023. Thought so...
Weird that a very male, angst rock band would want a female replacement for the late lead singer, let alone the other freaky scientology stuff
Dude its not a band because Brad and Rob are not in the band anymore
I was briefly a part of Mike Shinoda's Discord, and yes, the suicide hotline is mentioned, so I highly doubt that Mike is one. That said, YES I think that is a fantastic question for Emily. A lot of Linkin Park's songs were a cry for help from Chester, there's NO QUESTION about that.
Mike wrote MOST of those songs. You know not enough about the scenario.
All the band members contributed to the music.
@@TrippleNineSIXBandOfficialmy best friend before he passed away was a songwriter/singer and over half his songs were about my life and experience not his own. Just because you right the song doesn’t mean you experience it.
