    I'm glad Guro Jay is Keeping the flame alive for VSCK. I'm in the East Coast and a big fan of Maestro Sonny's Visayan System and this interview serves as a good insight to Guro Jay's thought's on the past, present and future of VSCK. The system is in Good Hands. Gumagalang Po.

    Wow! Guro Jay Pugao is very articulate. Man, Maestro Santiago is looking down at you Brother and remembers all that. He's happy you're continuing the art. Man! I need to get back to the Bay Area and meet all these talented people.

      Well said, there's a lot of history and talented people in the Bay. Heck that's one of the main hubs where FMA started in the States. We also need to head back there to document more of the instructors and history.

    Much respect to your teacher and your commitment to his work. High level understanding is rare for a teacher to convey you have that understanding of the depth and potential the Art has to offer few see it as an opportunity to assist in well-being for all. Tough guys with heart, utilizing strength, intelligence and compassion to form integrity. To me this is growth meant for a lifetime.
    Thank you for this insight 🙏

      We're glad Guro Jay and the teachings of Maestro Sonny Umpad can enlighten your views on training and life. It's hard to be both a teacher and a mentor, especially in martial arts schools.

    Hoping that the video makers can add a credit to Eric Nomburg for 3 of the photographs of Sonny used in this video. Eric was a student of Sonny and took some great shots of the Maestro in action. The B&W shots of Sonny teaching in the mirror, the shot of Sonny flowing with K in his home, and the shot of Sonny doing largo in the back yard. Thank you!

    “Not just dancing, there is a dark side.” Great saying for all of FMA. Not just drills and techniques. When things get serious, how far are you willing to go?

    • @FMAPulse
      @FMAPulse  2 роки тому +5

      Agreed, many martial arts have similar origins. But as it was introduced to the general public, the dark applications had to be taken out, modified or hidden within certain drills.

      We hope so too. There are various groups trying to building a network but not necessarily unifying under one system. Only those that want to progress will work together, and not against each other.
