what..? that isn’t true like it’s because they haven’t familiarized themselves much with english and stutter and are a bit confused. they light up more if someone speaks language because it is THEIR mother tongue. if someone spoke english with me, of course i’d be okay. but i’d be even more !!! crazy happy if they spoke in my language because it’s just amazing ! u know?

Korean people are so nice, like there's this one time when I was 8 years old, I went to Korea and got lost at a mall. I started to cry and bunch of Korean people started surrounding me, they tried speaking in Korean with me but I can't understand them so one of them speaks English to me and they all help me find my mom.

I spent 3 weeks solo travelling in Korea and not once did I meet anyone being rude to me because I was wearing hijab. They just treat me like any other person and sometimes even friendlier and the ahjummas even gave me some free stuff when I was brave enough to talk to them in Korean.

Mah Abdurahim That's exactly how I look like! Hehe. I'm a Muslim Southeast Asian as well. Dont worry. Be nice, try to speak as much Korean as you can and they'll be good to you. My Korean wasn't the best either, only from what I've learned from watching dramas and variety shows.
There are Korean muslims in Korea too, so it's not completely foreign to them and not everything they see/hear about muslims is from media. I don't know why it's an issue to be honest. Making it (being a muslim in Korea) seem like an issue, is the problem it seems. On a more positive note, I guess videos like this can sort of provide some comfort and assurance to those of Islamic faith who are thinking of visiting Korea.

I remember when I went to Korea last December with my family, my mum and I were buying strawberries and I was the one doing most of the speaking (I know enough to get by haha) the ahjusshi gave us some free mandarins because he thoughy my Korean was good 😂😂 It's a very fond memory of mine, I'd love to visit again!

I visited Korea in 2015 and I had no problem at all there as a Muslim wearing hijab. The people were very nice and warm towards me. Am thankful.❤

it depend of the country you come from i think but learning to read and write the hangul is easy you can learn it in 3day legit (the smartest ppl can learn it in 30min ) grammar is fairly easy too but for me vocab is hard there is a lot of words who look like each other or words who have a lot of different meaning so it's a little confusing but if you learn regulary in a few month you can at least held a basic conversation

Yeah i see where you're coming from. Im Arab and my korean pronunciation makes people think that im fluent when really i can only speak a little bit. That's probably because the Arabic language consists in you actually using your whole palate, so it's really easy to pronounce any type of language, but the learning part will obviously take a while, it's just the pronunciation that'll sound perfect.

Arabic is a very difficult language, if you can master it, you'll have less difficulty dealing with other languages (which are usually less difficult) because you're already used to the hassle of grammar.
There's another reason, most of us, Arabic speakers, HAVE TO LEARN a foreign language otherwise we won't be able to study at universities or even get a job... when you learn out of necessity, trust me, you always manage to make it, lol!

I was there alone and had to ask for directions.The older people,they are more conservative they stared at me like I was some alien and got scolded by them for standing just for standing somewhere..An older man also laughed at me for no reason which I dont understand why he did that..But to be fair,there were once in the subway that an ahjuma gave me her seat due to my small-built and I was carrying a few items on my hand.

From past few months I'm interested in korean culture and as i love korean drama,I always wanted to know more about korean people...as a muslim I was curious about how they think about muslim...so I googled it..and I got many negative reviews,that thing really made me sad cause Islam does not support terrorism....But because of some people who claim that they follow Islam and do bad thing,people thinks that Muslim are bad....I can't blame them for it,but I think they should know before saying anything bad about any religion,country or castes....because bad people can be from anywhere.....

Yes, i think i get what you mean. The language has feels and various tones for each context. It's like giving you the freedom & creativity to express yourself more. That's one of the reasons i learn korean language.

Chandra Fauzi Totally, once a muslim women came to hello counselor says that she were treated unpleasantly by the ahjumma (by pulling their hijab intentionally/ cursing them) however this should be understandable since the ahjummas were old and their generation were not the same as it is right now. They do not learn about equalities. FYI the women tried to unrevealed her hijab and her natural hair was curly. Still people still treat her the same (not getting any better). Being a muslim does not affect to everybody; they decide wether to get racist or known that every religion are welcome to their country.
