  • Here is a look at the new filming locations and movie sets for the upcoming movie production for Beetlejuice 2 in East Corinth, Vermont. Nearly all of the filming locations that were used in Beetlejuice (1988) are being remodeled and renovated again in 2023 for the upcoming production of Beetlejuice 2.
    If you're interested in the filming locations for Beetlejuice (1988), below is the link for the filming locations video I did:

    I actually find it a bit heartwarming that with all the CGI tools nowadays that could easily digitally create these building additions, they've decided instead to handcraft the original sets physically in the original location. That alone gives me a bit of hype for the upcoming movie because it displays a respect and love of the original that tends to show itself in the final product.

      I completely agree!

      I think it's because Burton understands that physical sets and tangible props will always look good to the human eye if it looks good on camera in the moment, but CGI moves so quickly it ages within a year or two. Just look at some of the CGI-heavy movies from ten years ago, in comparison to what's being produced today it looks quite poor. Real props and real sets have a fidelity that's ageless, while CGI often looks tired and obvious within just a few years simply because it's progressing and evolving quickly. I think he's aiming to produce something that's going to look great for decades, not something that's going to look good for a year or two.

      Michael Keaton recently said: “We both agreed, if it happens, it has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time,” Keaton said, noting the importance of using practical effects and “improvising and riffing, but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something.”

      The Hobbiton set for "Lord of the Rings" was constructed to on a cattle and sheep farm in New Zealand. After the three films were shot, it was partially demolished, but fans started coming by to see what remained. When the landowners were contacted for use of the site in the three "Hobbit" prequel films, they agreed on the condition that the set be made permanent, so it could become a tourist attraction. It then became the most visited site in the country. The folks in this Vermont town might not want such notoriety, but if the sequal is not a bomb, they may be able to capitalize on it.

    • @Fireglo
      @Fireglo 10 місяців тому +1

      @@charlesyoung7436 it would be pretty difficult as it's merely a facade so nothing inside and probably not built to last. All interior shots are done in a studio. Someone will have to foot the bill to keep it on that plot of land. I'm not sure it would be that popular of a tourist destination. How do you profit from it too? The house is on a hill in a big open field. Are you going to put a giant fence around it to stop people looking at it for free? There's nothing inside the building and it's likely unsafe to take people inside anyway so a tour of the house is out of the question.

    Cool to see this is being done old school instead of CGI. I too wish they rebuild the hardware store to be a permanent building but they can't for liability reasons as it's just a prop. I know it's probably cheaper to do it the way they do, but you'd think they could work with local contractors and the town to build permanent structures they could leave when done filming. Leave the covered bridge, revamp that hardware store, etc. They'd be able to leave the town in a better state than when they arrived.

    • @theedorbs
      @theedorbs 10 місяців тому +4

      It would be great. It would also take them a lot of time to get everything to code, all materials sourced, etc. Especially when there is a shortage of contractors and materials, both. I do know that some films have helped with restoration of important community structures in the past and it's a win-win, for sure!

    • @Transit_Biker
      @Transit_Biker 10 місяців тому +3

      The bridge has weight limits and was not designed to have something added to it like that. A real cover bridge is also far more substantial in structure, as the "sides" are what support the roadway. As for the houses etc - would be prohibitively expensive to build that and the interior spaces, water/utilities and such. Not worth the huge extra cost.

    My husband grew up here. While they were filming, Geena Davis & Alec Baldwin visited the elementary school and had a little Q&A with the students about what all the commotion was about on the one day he was out sick with the chicken pox. He took me to see it exactly a year ago and we visited his grandmother's grave in the cemetery which is next to where the Deetz's house was. Coincidentally, the character credited as Little Jane was on the swim team that shared the pool with mine when we were in high school in NH. Unrelated, my Sister now lives in the neighborhood where Edward Scissorhands was filmed so these Tim Burton films occupy a weird cosmic space in my life aside from being among my favorite films.

    Very neat. It’s always incredible to me how locations, set pieces, etc for certain iconic movies can basically just be left for ruin or just don’t exist at all anymore. I mean, Beetlejuice wasn’t a best picture award winner or anything, but it spawned shows at the Universal parks for decades, as well as appearances at Halloween Horror Nights, it had a Saturday morning cartoon for a few years in the early 90’s, it was one of Tim Burton’s first few films, there were toys and merchandising for it, and it’s a real cult classic. Other movies I’ve seen similar ruin like the hardware store, are the sites from What About Bob?, and the western exterior sets from Back to the Future III. I guess being so into movies, and even getting into film and television as a career myself, I think that all of these things would be perfectly preserved like a shrine. But many times they’re just left to rot. I suppose that’s Hollywood magic, but I wish more of it could be kept and preserved. But regardless, I’m excited to hear that there will be another Beetlejuice. Or at least cautiously optimistic. There sure have been a ton of bad sequels to classic films the past 10-15 years that really shouldn’t have been made in my opinion. At least the way they were done. I wish Hollywood could just come up with more brand NEW ideas like the original Beetlejuice. Today everything is a sequel, remake, comic book movie, or superhero movie. And even with those thru rehash the characters again every 4-5 years. How many Spider-Man actors have there been now? Or Batman? Or Superman? I used to be SO excited for them back in the late 80’s through the early 2000’s, even going to the first midnight screenings. But now it’s to the point where I don’t even watch most at home when I can for free.

I just assumed it was going to be entirely done on a studio in California or something, but seeing they’re at least likely going to replicate what they did here back in the 1980’s has increased my interest. It’s hard to stress how cool it is that Beetlejuice was/is filmed in this little town. It’s a tiny, off the beaten path village in the middle of Vermont. The face that not once but twice this movie was/is being filmed here is so cool. I have tracked down a lot of filming locations and this spot is a really unique little place. I can’t stress how much I appreciate that aspect of it.

      Yes, and the residents there really stressed how they hope something will/can be done to improve it. Something interesting about that building is, it used to be an old store before Beetlejuice was filmed in it. I spoke with a resident who said she used to go in there for candy and things back when she was little. It would be cool to see it even restored to something like that one day. Anything would be better than what has happened to it currently, aside from the facade for the movie.

      I agree, it would be cool if they could keep it, but I do understand why. I can tell you one thing, a lot of the people I spoke with who live there wish something permanently could be done to the old hardware store though. Many of the other locations were still in decent shape, but that one was a disaster. Hopefully one day they can actually do something with that one. Yes, a few of these locations got a facelift. But in all honesty, everything in the little town is in pretty decent shape and is really cool to visit except for where the original hardware store once sat. That place is in shambles and I can’t even believe it hasn’t fallen in and collapsed yet. That’s the building that needs the attention the most. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it torn down one day if something isn’t done with it, and soon. In the second movie production, they just built a façade in front of the mess that is standing behind it.

Often I feel it sort of sours things when they attempt to either run it back again or pick up where they left off. But I always hold out hope. I can understand why they do movies like this because of the popularity and staying power from the first time around. But there’s also something to be said for that and it’s also nice when they just leave it stay that way without revisiting or going back again.
