For literally a glorified character training mode, god damn this was one hell of an early open world experience for me back in the day. After leaving the village - not gonna lie it took me like a year as a kid before giving it another shot and doing it - I almost shit my pants at how big Konquest mode was.
Honestly. I remeber playing konquest my first time, it was one of those moments where you just remember where you were and what you were doing. I remeber running through the realms and how atmospheric and mystical it felt becuase of the music and scenery. Finally finishing it, it was more enticing than the fighting portion even though Konquest was a RPG character trainer so you could learn every character. I was hopeful they would return to this form in the future but on a much bigger scale. However they never did, and its a shame.

Those were my childhood rages. I always tried getting back in there but it never worked. Then I had to go on UA-cam to watch stupid videos. All in which they never go in to the village. It was completely unnecessary that you couldn't go back in the village.
It's always been a headcanon of mine that Shujinko would go back to the Earthrealm village after defeating Onaga to spend the final years in his life in peace... at least until Armageddon.
It was so strange that they blocked it off from you completely as soon as you left, like if you missed anything in there, start konquest again you silly bastard
@@zsonkixd200 Yeah, fighting game snobs who have experienced the best that the fighting genre has to offer don't really understand why people would like a fighting game if the fighting is clunky, they only play them to laugh at bad animations and wonder why the game still has fans.
@@free2aim171 Deception isn't even that clunky. Yeah after playing Smash it feels awful but I also don't remember any of the combos. And the combos are actually pretty fluid when 2 people know what they are doing.

Earthrealm is actually a nice spot in the game. Beautiful villages, ppl and nature. With this soundtrack seems like a peasant oriental countryside place, perfect for martial arts training.

ahh... back when the mk games had an interesting story, where original and quality tier, and you could learn a little of martial arts...and not just a simple fighting game repeteable and boring like the ones from these years... and upper all that, the beautiful soundtrack band from the trilogy. i feel lucky that i can play them even today in my PS2. Anyway. thanks for uploading these songs. This one started to play in my mind just randomly a moment ago and needed to search and listen to it.
Man i wish they did another open world conquest mode and build onto the ideas from this one. Maybe have a way to see missions and important NPCs on the map. I spent days playing this
Back when they tried stuff over at NRS.... And now look at what we got... Nothing. Cutscenes and fights. Zero sense of adventure to be found. MK1 being the most recent and BIGGEST offender with that awful "mode" they made that's basically a glorified 3D model mover... So terrible.
