Great Restoration. Arkana Conversions often turn up on market place. Stretched troopys and other mining or tourist vehicles. Most need lots of work. Real money pits.
The 3 I bought were so fckd I didnt have the heart to wreck them so I sold them on
This beast is awesome I've never seen one in the flesh before, the room for the driver is so much better if your tall or fat. Not a fan of raptor coat but this is how to do the raptor properly and that sliding rear window is awesome. Sounds like the only thing missing is a fridge, the fridge to fit all of Mr Landcruiser's beers while his missus drives to the next 4wd adventure.
Dis someone say beers ...
Have a soul brother that has one of these but in trooper form
Very cool
If that was available today, oh man.
Toyota wouldn't keep up
Oh Man ! What a find thanks for sharing. That thing sounds fantastic as you were driving. Please keep these videos coming if you can.
Thanks mate, wow this thing was cool
Absolute magical work done it shows 😊
What an incredible restoration 👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Agreed
That is a great rig, great vid as well
Agreed and thanks mate, we love showing these off.
If memory serves correctly,Arkarna was an off-road tour company based in Osbourne Park W.A. They built their own multi passenger troopies because there was nothing on
the market they found suitable. Word got around and they started building units to sell and I have seen 3/4 length two door radio service van used by
Morrison Knudsen Mannix Oman on the CRRIA rail job in the Pilbarra. This was a shortie lengthened about two feet and a single rear barn door with the radio tech's
service equipment and spares aboard and several antennae mounted. I have no idea how many conversions they built but there must be people out there who can contribute more info.
Thats cool info mate
What a bloody rippa! Nice work Ian! Remarkable work with the rust repairs and the rest of the resto. I hope you get heaps of chances to get out and enjoy it mate. Also looks cold in Caboolture? Jeans and a HOODIE!
It's bloody cold mate, got down to 11 this week. Lifes tough in QLd
Looks like Ian isn’t getting that back ,just needs a 600mm chassis extension to make it look proportional with longer tray and that would be the ultimate truck 👍🏻🐗🇦🇺
and some 33s, pretty sick
Wow what a awesome 4wd and set up.
It sure is!
I'm jealous l want one😢😢. Good walk around 💯✔️
Cheers mate, I think we all want one lol
Love more info on back slide window
Looking into it mate
Great effort Ian
Now that's a bloody beautiful and quite rare specimen, Frigging stunning work to get her back on the road in that incredible condition 😉👍❤🔥🤘
Agreed Ian did an awesome job
Beautiful restoration, Paul. All credit to Ian, his family and friends. Well worth saving this special vehicle. N.B. As a carpenter, I recognised the jarrah instantly. Beautiful complement to the steel work of the tray.
In regard to molasses, Sugar Soap was actually developed as a paint preparation product which is why it is better to start with a more dilute mixture than the instructions advise. Molasses also removes rust. There is/was an Australian TV series about restoration of historic homes-and conversion of historic buildings into homes-which included an old station homestead and its predecessor which became the manager’s house. The explorer Leichhardt stayed overnight in the earlier building, on one of his expeditions and the station itself gave rise to the adjacent town. Getting back to the point, the very original homestead door latches were soaked in molasses and came up a treat. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿.
P.S. Thank you for not wearing your shorts😂.
Hey the lady's love the short shorts.
Awesome ute well done .
Beautiful 🎉
Awsome build,
Did you find out where he got the back slider from ?
Think we might have
1) I remember when Arkana were making 6x6 75 series cruisers for exploration and survey work. We always wanted one but it never happened.
2) Yes, we use molasses out here in SW Queensland. We put it out with phosphorous for the cattle to eat. It's staggeringly popular with the locals.
3) Nice blue dog enters scene at 8:15
4) Sunnies are good 🙂
5) I should know where those "alternate" sun visors come from but I don't I'm sorry. I only know the Hy Way sun visors which are sold by Mr Landcruiser.
6) I like this vehicle however the only thing I would change is the headlights and spotlights. Quartz Halogen is superior for seeing at night as well as reducing eye strain / driver fatigue.
Other than the lights I'd leave it alone. It's a nice truck and piece of Australian 4wd history. Where is Arkana today ?
What do you think, I'd go 33s? but that's about it. Ok maybe a Hy-Way visor supplied by Mr Landcruiser
@@MrLandcruiser Yes, a sun visor sold by Mr Landcruiser would be beneficial.
The wheels are fine but go to 33 if you must.
What happened to Arkana ? Did they just go out of business ?
Hi Mr Landcruiser, I know where there's one of them. In Mount Suprise in North Queensland.
Can I buy it please
Any company still doing these dual cab conversions in Australia?
No mate, very custom. Ther's a few guys would take it on though.
❤❤❤
Get any exta room with the longer cab
Front seats go way back
Molasses is good stuff clean all the rust of Tmodel Ford parts
I've had a few clients say the same, very cool
Just d22
BHP, in Port Hedland had hirails similar to these back in the eighties and later think TKL were making the last ones
Thats cool, so many companies used them
