Sweet !!!!! I’m sure the water will not enter , not much anyways ! Lol. Those braces took a lot of your area away . Try using wedges behind the wood , you can adjust them as needed . Is this a storm shelter also ? A small solar battery system might be nice with a couple 12 volt lights and a small auto backup camera with monitor ( Amazon sells them cheap ) would help for seeing if the weather is gone . Now you can store your food and water along with ammo and blankets and portable Cotes in case you need to spend some time in there . I see on your shed you have a nice platform, perfect for hunting and to view the property !
Thanks Dave! I'll be putting in a deep cycle battery that is connected to a solar panel. This will help me have light down there and run an in-line vent fan. Yes, the cellar can have many uses including storing food, water, ammo, etc and can serve as a temporary bunker too. Yes I put a deck on the container which is a good place to view the area. I notice that the wild animals are pretty wary when I come, based on my game cam. So they obviously know when I come and stay away if they smell me. I might relocate the deer feeder away from the area, somewhere more remote on the land.

Thanks for the update, glad that root cellar is getting finished nicely now. I remember when i first saw u start the dig with that tiny excavator. Do you still have that? i havent seen it in a while. Skidsteers are amazing machines, i bought a old bobcat for my self over a year ago now and iv gotten a ton of jobs done with that machine. Just so handy to have around.
I always wanted to operate a skid steer. Closest I came was I rented one of those Vermeer stand on jobs. Made short work out of a rip rap job I did. Would've taken me a week and a bad back.. with a wheel barrow. I do envy you with all the equipment you have gotten to use.
Yeah, it's a been a great experience for me. Never used a large excavator, front loader or skid steer in my life until I had a project on the land for it. Was really fun! Just grown up boys with big toys.
Excellent update! after watching you do the digging renting the large excavator for the pond and renting this skidsteer. Have you thought about buying a used 3-5 ton excavator? think you could find those for 8-15k, the renting fees will add up in no time.
Thanks! I don't do enough digging to justify having one for myself. I like the idea of letting someone else deal with the maintenance side of the equation. Thanks for the input!
It's been over a year and the root cellar is holding up nicely. I do notice that the inline fan that pumps air in is frequently tripping the power inverter. It runs for a while but then trips at some point so I have to keep resetting the inverter.
