You can say what you want, you can dislike his style, but this guy is the only one to have played the instrument enervi alla enough to let us glimpse its real possibilities.
Danny Carey does some cool shot with his gong during solos as well
What happened to the people who wore those suits?
Where are they now???
Damn, dude. Leave some girls for the rest of us.
haha
haha
@@Exosfear13 copycat
When you have an extra large gong the ladies come....
🤣 Epic 👍
THank you..The suit was made in South Afica for me in 1984. It is a shark skin and is my favorite drum solo suit. It is showing its age...but I like it. all the best...RevM
Liking this comment 8 years later!
this guy looks like a used car salesman from the 80s who accidentally got in a time machine
What a great idea for a movie
SELLIN JESUS!!!
😂😂😂😂 totally well funny 😂 looks like he’s on acid 🤔😲😂🤩🤩🤩🤩✨✨
Julien Earle 😂😂😂
@@cosmicsprings8690 man, I have not done acid since the 70's...lol...I am just fast...
1:05 actually impressive
How it is done???
Juan Pablo Martinez Brito he bounced it
I just feel i keep seeing you over and over in the coments section...
That guy really knows his way around a giant Gong.
Wow, someone who actually smacks it :) Cheers Saul Goodman
Now this guy knows how to sell a goddamn gong.
so this is what business men do in there spare time
+Sweatmore94 This is what I DO for a living.......hello!!!....lol
Their
Businessmen from the 80s yes
What fantastic sound. It is wonderful whether you are playing with the mallet or with the sticks Thank you for sharing it Mark Temperato.
You could win a war with this in medieval times. This sound coming down the hills with an army would make the soldiers on the other side poop their pants.
Jazz drummers be like
calm yourself its just a phrase. language evolves over time
Jym E. Changa it’s a joke
No. We respect the instruments we play
It sounds like souls trying to escape hell
From hell...lol
@@RevM6565 the fact that you responded after nearly 8 years is SHOCKING
The sweet spots are at 3 and 7 o'clock but I listened to this at 11:30 so it didn't sound as good.
not if your in London or CA
Where the small hand is at 3:00, and 7:00 on a clock!
William Helms
WOOOOOOOOSH
Rollllllll crash,lol
dude i clicked at the time duddddddddddddddddddddd
I would love to hear at least an hour version of this gong being played in stereo with all the harmonics it can create. Better yet, and I know it is a long shot but I would love to have a go. Awesome work of art! Thanks for sharing!
Look for a gong bath session near you 🤯
@@jackgreenwood1817 I don't even remember watching this video 10 years ago.
@@MotionArtist3D😂.
“Honey knock it off and come to bed”
Wife wants to be banged like the gong 😂
This has the air of an 80s American commercial, love it!
That Gong is so powerful it can actually cause Pain it can get so loud .
Not only pain. Destruction of inner organs may appear when struck with full force.
Thats what happened to mr hands when he was struck with full force by a horse penis.
@@iivoli I was fucking drinking water and spit it out
I don't understand why this has so many dislikes. This is awesome.. Doc, you're phenomenal!.
Finally a video where someone hits the center gong full force
I did not expect him to break it down like that, damn!
ive been looking for a good gong teacher for years!
I'll take two of what he's having...
Holy crap! That throw and catch.
I would not be able to prevent myself form hitting that thing with the mallet with the absolute most mechanical force I could muster.
Let me tell you Howard, I ONCE hit it too hard for about a minute or 2 ...my eyes went blury-ish on and off for two weeks. When I had it made in 1996...Erik Paiste told me that the bass frequencies could disintegrate organs! I do believe that....lol... It is to be respected for sure. All the best...Mark
This is like playing Thunder if it were an instrument.
Old movie sound artists (Foley) used large pieces of sheet metal to make thunder sounds... heckuva lot cheaper than this gong!
My uncle had an old Pontiac that sounded just like that when he started it every morning.
I imagine this is what Neptune sounds like.
At least the first part.
I don't understand why this has so many dislikes. This is awesome.
Also, I wanna see that thing bowed. Not even sure if a double bass bow would work on that thing; it might need its own custom-made ginormous bow.
Max Pankau
Octobass bow.
How incredible.Mr Temperato, you are amazing. Thanks for posting this.
my jaw literally dropped watching it
I want that sound for my ringtone.
Beautiful and brilliant.
This would go great on my wedding gigs!!
Thanks Jeremy...I have already doubled my 2013 Guinness World Record...now I have hundreds of more things to beat on...haha all the best buddy...RevM
really cool Mark I like the playing of the Gong with the drumsticks the late Great Legendary John Bonham did this on the song whole lotta love back in 1969.
Somehow I'm finding this relaxing.
This.... gave me the shivers! Incredible!
My ears must not be developed enough to enjoy this...
When he played with the mallet, it sounded like howling wind
Yes sir I'd go mental too with a gong like that in my studio.
You sound better on one gong than I do on a whole drum kit.
I don't care what you came here for, this is awesome!
Dude's definitely getting his money's worth on that piece
This is awesome!
What a blessing to own this. I am guessing the sound is more robust in real life. Make a joyful noise!
Geezers a legend ,rumour has it 30 years later the gong is still vibrating in his ears aged 99 young )
Thank you! I love Timp's but I just don't have the room on my set. I have thought about putting one over my head or just getting some for our stage. Maybe one day. Many blessings buddy. RevM
This is the best video ive ever seen in my life
BEAUTIFUL. I even thought it was cool how me made use of the sticks, I'd never thought of doing that before, then again, I've never played an 80" gong before haha
I'd pay to go see this in person. Anybody know what state this is located in? I'd love to visit
I'd like for that gong behind me while playing a small 4 piece bop kit.
Man I want to play that
THAT 80 INCH GONG WAS WORTH THE MONEY.
- said no one ever
Man, you got that right....all the best...RevM
I love gong!BRAVO!
would love to put two of these together for my hi hats
This dude is clearly a badass.
AWESOME!!! I love these facts: suit and tie, stick throw down
must be moving some air about that sucker, those chimes are going nuts.
That's some amazing stick handling ya got there can tell your a drummer 😎
Doc, you're phenomenal!
Awesome!
Sounds like the wind
It looks like a drunk man from the 80’s broke in to a museum.
Thanks Lewis...all the best!
wow!! sounds like a storm is coming in!!!
That was F ing awesome actually hit it hard
So awesome!
I Still Want your pAisTe sound plates✌
Love ya Rev.
Its time to order one of these and use it as an apartment building wake-up call.
That was sweet.
Unbelievable sounds! I had never heard a gong played with sticks.
Why do I want a massive gong now
His suit is shinier than the gong.
lol...Had that suit made in Capetown South Africa in the 80's.
That explains everything.
Awesome Video!
That Gong is a blast!
The entire universe sound is there..
Amazing!! You’re very talented ❤
Now that's a ride cymbal!!
he's dog gong crazy!
This guy sounds like he had a part in the musical score of a Kubrick movie.....
there is an infinite amount of sounds, but you sure have more of them than most people! awesome kit!! what would be really cool if you did a song using every piece in your kit that would be awesome!!! just an idea. cheers!!
0:33 Top 10 things I would never do, first place.
Thank you John! haha The Gong is a wonderful instrument. All the best....RevM
Absolutely incredible! Who knew you could get so many harmonics out of a gong?
It's tuned to F, is it not?
Steve Cartoon I get a sh*toad of tones out of one 24 ride, a Giant Beat. I think 6 or 7. You can even smack it like a big crash, think Pensavita by Art Blakey.
same with my 32in ride...
you have a 32 inch ride!!!!
if the bell is articulate and produces alot of different tones depending on stick position the whole cymbal will be good cause every stick every stick position, playing technique sounds different
Sounds like as he gets it louder and louder, the pitch goes higher up. I hear B, but when he scrapes his sticks on the edge, I hear F#.
Is it me or does this look like it was filmed in the late 60s, early 70s?
We need a video of Dr. Mark vs. Sven vs. Bear...
Paiste's Gong are the best in the World . They sound from outer space
I was more impressed when he threw his chop sticks on the ground and grab it coming back up.
got chills...
I love it. That was amazing.
Aaaaaaaa amazing ! Love 💝 that effect. Uff it sounds cool !!
There's no way that's not summoning something. I want one.
--at a loud club--
Me: I have a big gong. Do you want to come back to my place and see it?
Her: SURE!
--at my place--
Her: Oh, you said gong.
Beautiful sound.
I seem to remember the 1972 Ludwig catalog listed s 60" Paiste gong for $7,000. I can only imagine what this one costs now!
Being high in your passion is a good thing. keep it up.
Very good nice playing man
Thanks a lot!
If I had a gong like that I'd build a church around it
This is what the beginning of the world sounded like.
