Depression is scary if you have a friend or loved one who struggles with it. Jared mentioned having two (possibly 3?) friends who committed suicide as a result of depression. Depression is a killer and it's normal to be concerned that depression might be a reason a friend dies. I think Jared's depression is a lot more serious than he let on, because he physically couldn't get up when he was on set while filming season 3, he cried uncontrollably on a park bench, had a meltdown and had to skip comicon once to rest, and compared himself to Sam Winchester in the season 8 finale where he mentioned having "a complex about letting people down". The latter is a very serious comparison, because Sam wanted to die. Jensen's reactions in these speeches makes me wonder if Jared has struggled with suicidal thoughts or attempts.

I know this is/was supposed to be about Jared, but I couldn't help myself from being drawn to Jensen's expression the whole time, even when I first watched this moment on that day or now watching it in slow mo here, while aware of Jared's obvious reaction. I mean...Jensen was totally aware of what's happening even before he asked, "what's going on in here?" but being Jensen, he's always playing coy or clueless or trying to be bland about it and not showing his emotion too much. But from the look of his strained smile and most of the time looking sad and how he tried not to look at Jared but super aware of Jared's reactions and feelings, I really feel for him. Of course Jared already pulled strings at my heart, but watching Jensen trying to hold it really makes me teary. Bless them and Misha and Mark too. :')
Jared is so on display with his emotions and we can read his thoughts right away! Jensen is like: keep your cool, be strong. This is so heartwarming, but keep your cool!!! While Misha just drinks water to not get emotional. It's so great!
i watched the panel on youtube, after the fact. you never got to see much of the crowd. but here, you get to see how it looked like and it's just so amazing. Jared's reaction once he read the note......i mean, tears. this fandom is by far the best in this galaxy, seriously. so glad to be part of it.

I started to realize while watching this that we always need to support those with depression and not keep them in the dark until it is too late. So I think whenever I see this video I will think of my best friend who has depression because she introduced me to Supernatural.
sorry i know its 4 years too late. The best thing you can do is just be there for them and listen to them without judgement which it sounds like you already do as you sound like a great person. I just know that helps for me to know someone is not judging me.

So I think it is really cool that she used the music piece "Rons Speech" from Deathly Hallows part 1 for the video. Thats the part of the movie where Ron is talking about the TINY BALL OF LIGHT that guided him. I just think it went really well with the whole theme of the candles and how they represent hope. Brought tears to my eyes :)
i’m watching this after this horrible long week i’ve had with the news about jared and i’m crying. he is such a beautiful human being and doesn’t deserve all the hate he’s getting, the media is making him out to be a bad person when he’s one of the best out there.
I was fighting cancer when I was 19, I'd had to leave my job, couldn't look after my kids, was bed ridden, it was awful. I was in a really dark place. I'd had depression for years but being physically sick took too much of my energy. I was used to using all of my energy to keep me alive but in a much different way. I went to a bad place but I decided to go back and watch supernatural again in 2015, the year of this panel and the year I spent fighting the illness and I fell madly in love with the show, the actors, the fandom, all of it. Sounds weird to non supernatural freaks like myself but I formed a veyy deep attachment and connection to supernatural while I was sick and I'm actually brokenhearted that it has to end but it is time and the fandom will live on.. Anyway now I'm done babbligg I just wanted to say thank you to Jared padelecki for his help in bringing such a shitty thing som of us have to live with into the light. Thank you Jared. Thank you misha, thank you Jensen, thank you all so much. You guys helped get me through. Me and I'm certain thousands of others. I'll keep fighting Jared, you keep fighting too 💜

I needed to see this today. I struggle with mild depression & and anxiety and my girlfriend has it to. I’ve been reading misha’s book things I still can’t tell you and it’s been really helpful on the days where I don’t know how to help myself let alone her. It’s empowering for me to hear Jared speak out boldly about seeking help when you need it.

This was the reason why I started watching the show. I struggle with anxiety and depression but it was seeing this and the close relationship between Jared and Jensen that led me to the show. I’ve had it I think for ever, but it only came to a head after high school. My friends had all went off to school, I was still at home, but I needed to get a job, and get into college and start figuring stuff out for my self and I just got too overwhelmed. Summer for me is usually the happiest time and I spent the whole of it in my room sleeping. I dreaded life and change and felt alone and like my life wasn’t headed anywhere. My sister actually helped the most. She was and is my Jensen. She helped me through all of it and told me I wasn’t alone, that she had felt the same way. Fortunately, she said, I had her. So thank you Jared for this. You lit the first candle and I can’t even begin to express my gratitude for that. Love you!!

Anna Meyers I stumbled into SPN, and this campaign at a wonderful time...when I was feeling my depression coming back and starting to go downhill again after almost a year. This campaign and family has given me strength to keep fighting even at times when all I wanted to do was let go. It has helped teach me that it's okay to open up about how I feel, that I can say I am struggling on bad days and instead of being looked at like, "Umm, okay?" "Or, just get over it." This family has wrapped me in their arms, and were there to listen. Opening up, and coming out about my depression, especially at times I am struggling with it is a source of anxiety for me, even going in for follow ups to see if medication needs to be adjusted. Its scary as hell to open up with anyone, but just seems a little easier talking to the spn family. #AKF This movement has so much meaning and will forever hold a place in my heart. For that, I thank Jared and this family every day.

I'm crying so much right now. I know I'm several years late but I've seen this before but not had a chance to comment on it and I just stumbled upon it again figured now or never.I'm going through a pretty bad time right now and its things like this that keep me going. I don't have a very good representation of a family in my life and it's this fandom right here that shows me what a real family is; because that's exactly what we are, family. I know that the acts of these people weren't for me but I want everyone to know how much it means to be given a light in the darkness. Thank you all so much for doing this for Jared.
I remember hearing about this and thinking how amazing that is and must have been for Jared. This, this just really drove home the ultimate show of love, understanding, and forgiveness everyone in the family has for Jared and each other.

This campaign and family has given me strength to keep fighting even at times when all I wanted to do was let go. It has helped teach me that it's okay to open up about how I feel, that I can say I am struggling on bad days and instead of being looked at like, "Umm, okay?" "Or, just get over it." This family has wrapped me in their arms, and were there to listen. Opening up, and coming out about my depression, especially at times I am struggling with it is a source of anxiety for me, even going in for follow ups to see if medication needs to be adjusted. Its scary as hell to open up with anyone, but just seems a little easier talking to the spn family. #AKF This movement has so much meaning and will forever hold a place in my heart. For that, I thank Jared and this family every day.

I'm crying so much right now. I know I'm several years late but I've seen this before but not had a chance to comment on it and I just stumbled upon it again figured now or never.I'm going through a pretty bad time right now and its things like this that keep me going. I don't have a very good representation of a family in my life and it's this fandom right here that shows me what a real family is; because that's exactly what we are, family. I know that the acts of these people weren't for me but I want everyone to know how much it means to be given a light in the darkness. Thank you all so much for doing this for Jared.

And now after reading his essay in the “Family Don’t End With Blood” book, I know now how much more amazing that must have been for him. Seraphim 2703 Omg, yes, indeed!! This video hits so much harder after reading Jared's chapter, hearing from him what he was battling and going through leading up to this...and going into the panel. This, this just really drove home the ultimate show of love, understanding, and forgiveness everyone in the family has for Jared and each other.
