My D15B had an eBay 50 trim and it ran great, spooled at 3800 RPM, and when it picked up it flew. My buddy had an EG sedan with the same engine when I went B series and he put an old AiResearch .48 AR Ford Thunderbird turbo on it and it spooled around 2500 RPM and pulled fairly hard. He kept up with my turbo B series until I hit about 5000 RPM when my bigger turbo was still pulling.
I an commenting at 22:23 I think your right. Sounds like a battery or alternator problem. Maybe both. I will continue to watch to see if you resolve it. You have the best video. Always loaded with tech solutions and resolving problems. Just whatvthis old man likes to watch👍 Thank you young man🙂
My b18c civic sedan ignition switch was toasted due to ageing. I had to hold the key at a certain position to maintain the power. I resolder the contacts to cure this. As for the injector deadtimes, I think they increased the fuel pressure to overcone this.
Been away from the channel for a minute but back and enjoying the content 👍👍 Just some input if you have time could you put the build list of each car you tune in the description 😉 Will save lots of time and questions in the comments. Great detailed content Hunter
Hey if it’s any help I had a similar problem and the egs have always had this issue with the “ELD” the electric load detector it’s in the fuse box I had to swap my fuse box with mine
Hey brother if it’s the down pipe to turbo you need a special v band from for the holset hx35 it’s an odd size apparently.. I got mine from a dodge dealer or rock auto for a Cummins .
I wanted to mention I was half awake when I wrote that so I wanted to add that’s *if he’s using the “oem holset” vband outlet to a typical vband downpipe . I had to buy a special vband clamp and flange for my downpipes whenever I used the “oem holset” t3 hx35 housings . Sry I just wanted to make sure I posted 100% factual information. I forget off the top of my head what it was that was different from a normal 3 inch band but I recall without the proper holset vband clamp and flange it would leak sooner or later no matter what . Finally on a dsm I had I decided to go bumper exit and my friend who was very into holsets was helping me with the project and upon seeing the 3 inch stainless flanges I had he said “whoa those aren’t what you’ve been using right” and pulled out a spare set of oem holset flanges and clamps , a micrometer and started showing me the difference.. I don’t recall the #’s tho sry . Dsmtuners.com has a ton of holset info tho if anyone needed to know
Oh yeah, this thing has major electrical issues. It would benefit from a new battery and alternator for sure. I would also get a new set of injectors and replace that fuel.
I don’t know the exact specs on it I just know they are large hot sides and small cold sides meant for big engines running low rpm. (Diesel) and we try to do the opposite with them in a Honda so they kind of suck.
You need better customers, constantly bringing in this 1/2 finished project crap just sucks. A tuner is suppose to tune the car, not trouble shoot the whole darn thing and rebuild parts of it. I have had people specify a check list, items to bring (ie 2 sets of spark plugs, fuel to be used), etc. I have been at shops that turned away projects when they show up 1/2 finished. I commend you for your effort and willingness to work through these things, thought it wouldn't be a hunter video without a moment of 'screw this thing, I'm going home'. :)
With the availability of really cheap, relatively good turbos out there why run this thing? It probably ends up costing more to make it work than just buying a different turbo assuming the HX was free. Powerband is what makes a car feel and actually be fast.
Man you don’t ever just want to turn down Hondas I feel like there’s just such a large gap between good builds and piss poor builds that some kids that never touched cars built and trash parts that sends you into a spiral of issues and the wiring harnesses are so old already

Good video. This one made you work for it! Glad to come on the journey. Keep pushing!

That oil breather when the boost kicked in....😆☁☁☁
Tell em Hunter! If I can't put my hands on it I can't put my name on it!

This car seemed to be one thing after another! Glad you got it worked out
he did a awesome job! happy how it tuned out

Wow that’s the stillest I’ve seen a arm gauge what would make mine constantly move Evan tho the fast to slow rate has been lowered.
What’s the best head gasket for a single jingle?
What about felpro with copper spray

isn't the overflow made to overflow when the coolant gets hot and expands?
Yes. But when dyno tuning doing a pull with the fan on quick if it pushes past the cap while in boost it shows the head gasket not sealing.
The people over at pfi put there straps threw sections of charge pipes to keep the exhaust off the straps
Love seeing sohc content
hunter i have a question for you do you think the smaller holset hy35 would be a good match for a b20b non vtec?
No I don’t really like these turbos as they all lag lol
They are a small cold side big hot side turbo meant for big engine low rpm. Hondas do the opposite lol
You deleted the previous tuners ghost cam 😂🤣
Is e91 fuel good for tuning bro
Single cams don't hold head gaskets even without a turbo so I believe that one lol

ended up bring my s300, luckly i left another ecu for him
I do have a few questions. I have a jdm d15 3 stage. If your willi.g to answer a few questions I'd appreciate it.
Can you give a base map for a ls vtec turbo setup?
Where u located bro I'm building my zc dohc obd1 and I want to see If u can tune it
How big is the hx35? That just seems like it wouldn't be the funnest thing to street drive.

Op nvm didn’t finish the video before my comment 🤣🤣
5th from the UK.

He has the battery ground like an ef lol
I’m surprised this dude still has a full head of hair
Let’s see some grom content
Did anyone else notice the oil feed to the turbo resting on the manifild?
With the heat sleeve on it. Yep
Kicking anyone in the face that ever dislikes Hunter's video 😆 haha
I bet you his power wires have corrosion all inside of them
Those injectors are trash ...10 out of 10 do not recommend and e85 all cars !
Dear friend, here is Lucy from [AZDOME Dashcam] which was founded in 2010. We want to collab with you. Are you interested?
