It was pretty fun. Total cost was about 140 with receiver, ball and wire harness. It would have cost me 600 at dealership or 350 at u haul. I saved so much with this video thanks to you guys. Thank you very much
Instructions were great for install on my 2016 Patriot. I’m pretty competent, but this took 2+ hours solo... recommend lifting the vehicle to get some room to work and having a second set of hands.
Jeffery Salyers Thanks for the question Jeffery. This spacing issue is nothing to worry about. On rare occasions the hitch side plate can get bent in during shipping. Once you tighten the bolts to the proper torque spec the side plates of the hitch will snug up and have good contact with the frame. If there are no gaps after the bolts are tight then the hitch is correctly installed.
I have a 2015 jeep patriot sport, 5speed front wheel drive. I just bought a 20 ft camper. Would my patriot be able to pull it? I still have yet to get my hitch also.
You need to check your vehicles owner's manual to determine if the vehicle is rated to tow, and at how much it can tow. Our 13081 is capable of towing 4000lbs, but that doesn't mean you can with your vehicle. How much does your camper weigh fully loaded? Take it to a scale at any truck stop and find out. Towing is serious business and you need to understand the limitations of your towing setup. Please tow safely.

What's the name of the specialty tool used in this video? My tank is stuck up there and a pry bar isn't cutting it!

What size bolts do you recommend I just bought this off amazon but I do not know if it comes with bolts or not
It comes with all the hardware you'll need, and the installation instructions.
Is it normal to have about a 3/16 to 1/2 in space between the hitch and jeep frame before the bolts are tightened.

CURT Manufacturing true and I'm sure it might possibly weigh more then 2,000. In my opinion a jeep patriot is useless for much of anything.
