My discord was using 600 MB, but after I disabled hardware acceleration it dropped to 250-280 MB. Thank you so much!

In newer versions Krisp noise reduction is turned on by default under voice settings. Turning that off could lower CPU usage as well.

this fixed it for me, deleting the folders. must have been an issue with them, went down from 25-30% almost always cpu usage to 0.2-1%

Developers nowadays give shit about performance and HW usages. Its easier for them to braindead code the program. Back in the day when all you had available was 512 Meg of RAM, developers actually designed their programs the smart way and had to think about impact their code will make on the system performace.
Exactly. Nowadays devs expect that users have high end PC and they use very high level languages like Python for applications, instead of a more efficient language like C, C++, Rust, D, etc...
I had hardware acceleration on, but when I turned it off, my CPU usage went from about 25% when watching a stream to 5% and my RAM usage went from 300MB to 40MB.
You may want to make a bat-file that uninstalls and re-installs Discord every time you start it - because what you did is just a stop-gap against a badly written pos. :)

I cleaned my discord like in the video and it was below 50% cpu but when i vc with a friend and i checked task manager it goes 100% again
I have 0.1 cpu usage when streaming so it looks like shit and barely even works and makes me lag how do I fix that?
late for month but still, the problem i have is that this one program called "RuntimeService" and "ErrorReport" both of them keep going into discord for some reason, reinstalling fix it, only untill i restart my computer again. i would glad if someone could help

discord always crashed after 2 gigs of ram and it pisses me off no fix really helps the issue discord also needs to do something about this common problem and i got 64 gigs of ram for gods sake and it still crashes once it hits 2 god damn gigs what the hell discord

Hard acceleration is found within advanced on the left not in appearance. FYI this did nothing to help. When not watching a stream i get like 2% usage, but whenever i start watching a stream while playing a game it jumps up to 30%, when not playing it goes to 15%. This makes no sense at all. How come watching youtube or twitch uses like 3% but discord just hogs my cpu? makes no sense.
Yeah man, im having the same problem and not sure what the cause is lmao. I have a decent pc, and I like to have webcams on with the boys, but it makes me lag, SOOO much!
discord is 32 bit, there is no 64 bit version for it sadly, discord just doesnt give a fuck, i just wish that microsoft drops 32 bit and stays on 64 bit

Discord is not best for older systems, TeamSpeak is.
My TS only uses max of .7% of cpu (4790k) with voice codec on Opus Music max quality and Memory less than 50mb.

isn't discord malware? it uses 20% of my cpu even after reboot, sometimes it goes up to 30-40%, and no matter how much I look, there is no information about it ANYWHERE. the only thing everyone says is disable hardware acceleration. Yes, I turned it off and on a hundred times, it does not change anything. while my video processor in 4k loads only 13%, 15 open tabs in firefox only 5%
