  • The journey continues as we attempt to cross from Europe to Asia. A journey through caravanserais, madrassas, deserts, steppes and mountains. A journey along the Silk Road.
The fourth stage of the journey is in the Aral Desert, the site of the now extinct Aral Sea in Uzbekistan. This ancient sea has now become a toxic desert, clouds of dust, salt and pesticides hit the ancient fishing town of Moynaq. This has been one of mankind's greatest ecological disasters. Where once there were boats and fish, now only rusting skeletons and the white shells of clams remain. After Moynaq, we leave for the capital, Tashkent, with a train journey of more than 19 hours. The end of Uzbekistan is approaching.
For me this is the most important trip of my life, the Silk Road is and has been my great destination and I am very happy to be able to share it with you, especially in this format. You are invited to join me on this boat. Remember that you can follow me on my RRSS:
