I have severe anxiety disorder, and because it isn't anxiety about 'temporary' things, and more about aging, childhood and death, generally more 'permanent' thing, I have found this video really comforting because these are things that will make me feel better and don't just tell me to 'face my fears' or 'let it go', thank you Carrie! I hope you have a lovely day! Xx
A couple of years ago I also struggled with severe anxiety and panic over aging/ death, and I agree with you in that it's annoying when people just say 'face your fears'! My anxiety has actually weirdly peaked back up again but overall I just wanted to comment and let you know that even these permanent fears' affects on anxiety do subside and you can use them to make you live a fuller life, like for me my fears of death have influenced my philosophy studies this year :) xx
This is why I absolutely love Carrie Hope Fletcher
What it works for me especially if I am overburdened with school work that requires concentration and I don't have a lot of time, is to take 5-10 minutes, put on the most energising song I know and just dance around the room, move and jump around. That really clears my head and I feel better. It also worked if I was sleepy to wake myself up a bit.
Her voice is so comforting omg
I completely agree with everything you said! I used to get really stressed out about the smallest things.. my anxiety would get pretty high. Over the past year I've changed my diet and made getting a good nights sleep a priority. I've also removed myself (whenever possible) from stressful situations. I've noticed a huge difference in my life, and I definitely agree that just having a good friend to chat with can really help too!
Thank you Carrie, I needed this reminder, since I am struggling just now, at this moment!
My advice, being someone who is currently struggling a lot anyway, is, presuming you know what is stressing you out or causing anxiety, take a break away from it if possible. For example, of youre stressing about school work, have a cuppa, or coffee of hot chocolate, whatever your preference is, and just put everything to the side and take a breather. Listen to some music, do something that makes you happy. Not for too long, half an hour or so when you're really struggling, just to clear your head, then get back to it. That should help a little at least. (I'm kinda bad at advice..I tried..)
jeffjaff1 Taking a break when things are getting a bit much is great advice! Hopefully you have given anyone who is struggling some good tips to help!
I uses to stress about stupid things all the time and I know exactly what she means about the sleep. My advice would be to look to your family. They would always put things in perspective for me and keep me grounded.
Love this video, it's so helpful! Thanks Carrie
When I'm stressed I know that all I need is a nice tight hug from someone I know so when I see my friends stressing I just ask them if they need a hug and hold onto them until they feel ready to let go :)
Your optimism somewhat transfer to me when I watch your vids. Thank you.
I tend to sleep more when I have a lot on my plate, almost as a way to avoid doing it... It's really bad because oversleeping is not healthy at all!! I think the take a walk thing is the best for me :)
This video is life goals 😃😎
We all need a shoulder to lean on now and then.
My anxiety has gotten very severe to the point where I've dropped down to 1 subject from 4 and I'm doing it at home instead of going in. Something that I am trying to do (and seems to be helping) is making sure I am doing things I love as in hobbies that have no deadlines or pressures attached because I put everything into school and that is too much.
Jadeling97 Sorry to hear that your anxiety has had such a big impact. It is great that you have started to turn a corner and have found things which help take the pressure off. Make sure you talk to friends or your parents if you feel things start to build up again.
Hey, from someone who is also currently really struggling with their anxiety and doing school at home, I support you and care about you so much. I hope you have a lovely day because you are a beautiful Ray of sunshine.
***** Awww thanks so much for that comment, all the same back to you as you are obviously a wonderful person for writing such a lovely message. Hope your well xx
THIS WAS THE VIDEO I NEEDED, THANK YOU SO MUCH CARRIE ILY. Btw I'm coming to liverpool! :D
Asdfghj i love carrie so much 3
I think the most important thing about stress caused by too much work % studies to be done is to get it out of the way as soon as possible. I've had a problem with school stress for a very long time because i'd have many obligations and i would worry about them a lot but then do them in the last minute and last minute mins horrible quality and eaven worse grade which leads to more stress.
This helped me and i hope it'll help you as well :D
I get stress a lot. When I do stuff I want to get it done asap and well, if not I'm going to start getting angry with myself and nervous because I haven't finished yet, I can't sleep, nearly eat and start doing things non-stop. I know it's awful for me but I can't stop it. I'm going to try talking with my friends and go out for a walk:)
It's so cute of Carrie to do this!
I'm so glad that someone is finally giving teens some actual, good advice. Thanks a bunch! However, this advice doesn't really apply to me, as I have no friends to consult and I can eat almost anything and it won't effect my health.
There are always people out there who you can talk to, even if that means talking to someone in the comments of a video, finding a helpful website where you can talk to people who understand, or just chatting to somebody who does care about you. Because you do have friends, you just might not know it yet.
Hannah Loves Life Your advice really inspiring, but considering the fact that I'm a home schooled 13 year old who never leaves the house, the only humans I come in contact with are my parents and strangers on the internet. Thanks anyways, though.
MaenwenCap are there any homeschool groups/communities in your area? i was homeschooled at 13 too but i met up with other homeschoolers for a co-op once a week and it was really really helpful. also doing extracurricular things like dance classes, joining a choir, etc, anything that interests you is a good way to branch out and get out of the house! just know that it can seem like you are isolated now but once you can drive yourself or move out and make your own choices it opens your world up to so many new friends and opportunities. hang in there!

Maybe go to some activity?
Do you have any hobbys? I am sure you could go some way out of the house...
I do not know why I am writing this maybe because i am also 13. Maybe something helped...?
Tanja Sokirko Actually, I do have a hobby (outdoor/urban photography). I appreciate your help, but you (also being 13) should know that most people our age group are, to put it nicely, rude and unpleasant. I don't have any friends simply because I don't enjoy being in the company of other humans longer then mandatory.
I really like that you chose this topic and thought you tackled it well :) it's a very helpful video x
Most of my stress problems are exam induced. If I'm studying, and I start panicking because THERE'S NO TIME AND WHAT IS THIS PHYSICS ANYWAY I just take a quarter of an hour break, have a cup of tea, play with my dog, listen to music, stuff like that. Then when I come back to work I find myself a lot more clear headed and everything's OK x
Also exercise! Exercise and activity releases endorphins, which make you feel happier. Even if it's temporary it'll help you get through some of that anxiety fog.
Love you Carrie 💖
I get stressed and anxious a lot and sometimes I don't know what to do about it. I find I have periods where I'm more stressed than others. The only thing is when I do stress it seems to take over and I go into a kind of overdrive. I have found however that going to a teacher at college helps me relax even for a short time so I can clear my head. Even if after a while of doing this I still get anxious about talking to a teacher about my anxiety and stress for anyone in a similar situation it is worth it.
I have so much stress in my life but I barely ever talk to people about it...
and I've never done or considered doing drugs.
All I do is read a good book, watch or make a UA-cam video or draw ^-^ that helps me. If I get too much I will talk to someone but I prefer to keep stuff to myself. I don't know why that is
My advice for any one having trouble sleeping is to switch all electronic devices off including your phone get an alarm clock instead of using the alarm on your phone and of course read a book before you go to go bed to give your eyes a break from looking at screens every day
great tips!!
*watching this video whilst drinking water*
I have final exams to revise for, constant mountains of work and revision to do and I have a lot of hours at work, I can't cope with it. I've tried to distract myself and be healthier but at the end of the day I still have so much to do all the time it doesn't reduce. So any further tips or advice would be hugely appreciated :)
So 2 out of 5 tips are based on having friends. Great.
I just got stressed and ate some chocolate and drank a hot chocolate... Oops lets try to drink water and have an early nights sleep then :P
my fave
