I'm so happy for you and your mom that the community was able to help keep you on the trails. As always, the hike was beautifully shot but the way you spend time with your mom is even more beautiful. We love what you do for us and moreso, the freedom you give to yourself by experiencing these spectacular places!
We totally enjoyed these stunning views this morning. Your filming is I think the best ever and I love the way you've humanized it even further by the frontal shots of your Mom as she makes her way to the Summit. Thanks again Nick for all the work and creativity that you put into these films!!
What a wonderful hike Nick! And I love the fact that you get to do those things with your Mom!! My mom is 84 and though she can't hike she so enjoys being put in the mountains and seeing the beautiful scenery and all the wildlife! She'll be going with me and my fiancé in a couple weeks! She's so excited! The Caribou Pass trail, is that an old wagon road or something? I'm going to have to check it out sometime sooner than later! That one section is eroding pretty good!! Again thanks for the videos! They keep me connected to the mountains I love! As always we'll see ya' down the trail!
Im excited for your mom! That is so great you are taking her out to enjoy the beauty. Fantastic. I hope you all have a great time! Im not sure if the Caribou Pass was a wagon trail. It seems really narrow along there though. But I feel the Arapaho Pass trail was a road at one time. There were mines off the side of Quarter to 5 Peak so Im sure thats the reason. Plus the Fourth of July mine too.
That was spectacular ! I don't know if it was the lighting today or what but I felt like I was walking with you up the trail! So beautiful! Thanks for sharing your hike!
Thank you! We FINALLY had a clear day without the smoke screwing the color up. I finally got to show what the gopro can actually do. I love that thing.
Dear Nick, this video of the back side of the Brainerd Lake area is Golden! Us front rangers always see the front side but it is AMAZING to see these back side views .A friend of mine tried to take his young son and two horses up and over James peak to the back side, the horse fell and he had to shoot it. these videos are case studies for us dumb folks that just want to be free and try stuff like this
Awww.. poor horse. That backside of the Brainard area is awesome! Really magestic stretch of mountains there. I wish I could have made it up to Apache Peak! But I fell/slid 400 ft down the Isabelle Glacier and hike failed it. You need more than microspikes to do it. 😂
Did Lake Dorothy hike today. Didn’t go to Santanta but did Quarter to Five. Went to the high point shown in your vid via some sketchy class 2/3 scramble in snow. My GPS showed 12270ft at second summit . There is however one more summit after that which I didn’t attempt. It does appear to be a tad lower than the second summit from what I can see
It’s a fun little ridge for sure. Look forward to your Jasper vid. It looks to me the easiest way to do either Jasper or Neva is via that saddle between the two. It’s steep but looks doable
@@ruggedland The saddle from Jasper to Neva is the easiest way to get Neva as far as technicality. But its a grind because you have to summit Jasper first. Im putting finishing touches on Jasper video right now. Will be up next week! Im excited, I think its my masterpiece for this season.
This must be one of the most scenic hikes I ve seen on your channel!! Disappointed you didn't do the class 3 traverse lol!!! Maybe it's Satan Ta Ta is Sioux for the!!! So it's Satan The Peak
I was actually glad we didn't try the traverse because we would have had to come back across it in the rain. Its ok though.. I will come back and solo it next year. Maybe go up Neva as far as I can too just to check it out.
Wow! Thanks Nick. One of my favorites of your videos. Epic vistas in all directions. The camera quality was equal to the subject. Fantastic work. Question for you: We will be in Estes Park in late May and first week of June. Do you think that trail would be doable that early in the season?
Thank you! It was such an epic day. The colors were poppin! Im not sure if you can get up the road that early. Ive never tried. If the Fourth of July Road is open I dont see any reason why you couldnt do it. Just depends on much snow we get.
Such a beautiful hike!! I remember doing this up to Arapahoe Pass, didn't even know Satanta Peak was a destination!? Loved the Caribou Pass trail, so sketchy with exposure. The switchbacks below Navaho Peak going down to the valley is something I remember. Neat!!
Thank you! It was such a beautiful hike. Really colorful. I just posted next week's finished vid on patreon and will hopefully have Jasper Peak raw vid up by tomorrow. Its a good one! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel! :)
Awesome video. Is there an easier way to summit Mt Neva from Caribou pass? The ridge shown in the video looks not too bad. I know the north ridge of Neva is class 4+ which is out of my league
I wish I knew of a better way from the north, but I think everything passes by that one class 4 section. The only way I know how to get Neva is to go up and over Jasper Peak. But I just did Jasper last week and its TOUGH. Adding on Neva is a bit too much for me.
Its decent. You can go about 10-13 mph on it. Its so much better than it was 2 years ago. It was almost undrivable back then and probably why I avoided it in 2020. Back then you had to creep along at 2-3 mph. But they have obviously done some work on it.
@@nicksangetta8874 ah that was on my list as well, but probably next year at this point. I did Hiamovi and I think you might like that one. I have one more trip this year in october to Estes Park--hope the weather holds for Isolation.
@@alquinn8576 I would love to get over to that west side more. Would like to try for Andrews Peak too. There are a bunch of ways you can do Jasper. You could probably get up the class 4 section and bag Neva from the north then take ridge across to Jasper and take it on down by Xanadu Lake and plane crash to complete the loop. I would do it but probably cant get up Neva.
So much in this video! 1). Beautiful video! So glad you're able to continue your channel! 2). KANSAS!?!?!? After watching your vids for 2 years now, i would sworn you were a native! So, do you believe NATIVE Coloradans are more protective of the State or "Transplants"? I know you love/value your solitude on the trail and Im sure you love/respect Nature in Colorado but is there a difference between Native and Transplant? 3).Dickers Peck.......🤣🤣🤣 Sorry.....I'm juvenile.
Im not sure if natives or transplants are better. I know some natives who love the land and others that dont even know what Longs Peak is. I know I love it more being a transplant. I think if I grew up here I would have taken it for granted. But living 33 years in hot nasty Kansas then getting to come here.. it feels like paradise.
@@nicksangetta8874 I agree with you, Nick. Im a native Texan and I am counting the days until we're able to move up there. I LOVE Colorado.....the natural beauty and the Wildlife. That's why I was shocked to learn you weren't a native Coloradan. It's obvious how much you appreciate it as well! 🤘

I had lunch on Quarter to Five Peak, didn’t even know it had a name. Another great video!
Nice! Quarter to 5 Peak is what my Colorado's Indian Peaks book calls it. Did you take it out across the ridge?
