I am an indian..and my gradparents came form Pakistan..rawalpindi and this reminds me so much of the accent my grandfather had..he passed away 5 yrs ago..not to mention..this is just beautiful poetry...love it..!!
I was looking for this poetry over the years. I heard this poetry in 1984 first time when Prof. Anwar Maqsood came to our college. Prof. Nasr Abbas Naqvi (our Urdu Professor teacher)invited him to our college. Prof. Anwar Maqsood is not only a great poet but also a great human being and he proved this by marrying his son to a blind lady. Zindabad Prof. Anwar Maqsood and zindabad youtube that fulfilled my desire of hearing this poetry especially in Prof. Anwar Maqsood's own voice.
Mazzah/funny part is just one side of poetry ... lesson to learn is how people do buttering and talk for and against the same thing to get their work do.. and other is when we cross the limit like jumping from a discussion on food to discussing politics ... and even lower class person making racist comments..
This accent is spoken between gujrat and gujaranwala, and is very pure in terms of the majhi dialect, if you can say that, maharaja ranjit singh etc also spoke this accent as they were born there

His is from Gujrat(Punjab) He is a Great Poet of the era I remember him very well when he used to visit Institute of Ceramics (Gujrat) to see Dr.Ghulam Rasul . I used to work their as Engnieer Kilns 80-90s. Prof Anwar was at Zamindar College Gujrat
What a poetry and on top of that the way Prof. Anwar Masood sahib read this poetry is hilarious. There are many others who read this poetry but Prof.sahib is second to none.

veer ji, bare wadhya vichar ne tuhade. parh ke dil khush ho gya. menu nahi pata ke kyon kujh lokan de dilan vich dooje lokan layi nafrat hundi hai. tusi pyar wand rahe ho, jyonde raho.
@phredus .. Not only that the poet belonged from Rawalpindi , he also taught at the Govt College Asghar Mall Road Rawalpindi for most of his life .no wonder that you see the style and humour of your grandfather in him :))

As an Indian Punjabi, I regret missing these great punjabi poets. Punjabi culture is the loser. I hope it will change in the future.
