      +matubaM I can see how it would seem that way to you. But what actually happens is that they are told by their program director what topics have a high rating and clearly dame's interview was high so they use that to link it to what they have now...It makes for great clickbait, headlines and soundbites...its business homie...plus it was LA Reid that brought him up.lol

    No I think TLC is saying that Pebbles as there manager did not have their best interests at heart. The contract wasn’t on point.

    • @Starkardur
      @Starkardur 5 років тому

      Lisa said in an interview that the record deal with Pebbles wasn't a good or a bad deal it was just a deal new artist would get. TLC didn't write or produce their songs. If they had some creative input, they would have made more money. TLC also made very expensive videos which according to the contract, they had to pay for half. I don't know how they controlled things at the label but the contract would have allowed TLC to make financial decisions regarding their albums and promotion.

I love that Angie does her research on the artist or personalities that are on the show and conversations are factual and addressed if not, and how she surprises the guest by knowing her stuff. Thanks Angela Yee its inspiring and should be taken notice of by any youth that have aspirations to do what you all do.

    • @ctyboy-bm6pg
      @ctyboy-bm6pg 8 років тому +1

      Huh? When videos were poppin in that era all you ever saw in the credits was LaFace records, LA Reid, and Riley in the actual videos. Most execs get to a point where they don't need to be the frontrunner of an artists' success. There's hundreds of individuals involved in artist development and repertoire, but don't doubt that the men up top aren't getting their cut one way or another.

    You see Charlamagne has a good idea and instead he's busy leaning back in his chair instead of acting on it and trying to make it happen. And that kinda mindset is the reason why Dame clowned him. It's easier to sit and gossip instead of having your own

    I can tell L.A Reid grew up idolizing Berry Gordy, I felt like he adopted the same model of running a music label when he said he didn't care about "putting music into boxes". Like Mr. Gordy didn't care about black music or white music he wanted his artists to make music for everyone.

    LA Reid ...the need to call him ATL Reid he's the man who introduced the world to Atlanta music scene was the man who brought you OutKast, TLC, Usher, Goodie Mob, Cee-Lo Green, Toni Braxton, Babyface and many many more. He and Face started LaFace Records together after starring in a group together I believe the group was name Focus...great great man the OG of the game LA Reid used to throw the biggest parties in Atlanta he introduced Puffy to Atlanta and showed him how to get money....Respect!

      +IAin't Nervous i feel if you are a good enough artist you will surely break out and be popular. Some tremendous artists just want a cult following and not the main stage. Not all of them wanna be drake or beyonce.

      It's show BUSINESS!! They want who is profitable/marketable. They ain't spending hundreds of those of dollars on someone with no stage presence, or someone who doesn't stand out. A lot of people can sing but what is it about them that sets them a part from everyone else is what they are after.
