I wish I'd known you guys were here, I pass through Fultondale Mon-Fri on my way back and forth to work. You're right...I'm always shocked that anyone would CHOOSE to move here buuuut, I'm so glad they do. I live in the cun-tree now and we have THREE Hispanic families as neighbors. I was worried about having horrific racists as neighbors (and we may still have those too) but I love my Hispanic neighbors. One of the reasons I was reluctant to move to the country is I love black neighbors...always have, always will. But I have near me a black owned very successful car detailing shop...did my husband's truck and it was pristine! Love you guys!
Birmingham has a big population of hispanics , whole neighberhoods and trailer parks , we easily fill up legion feild when mexico or a soccer club plays. Pelham. Alabaster, homewood ,bessemer,hoover have pretty large amounts of hispanis and bussineses. But yes i completely agree with you, there is a lot of ignorance out here even tho its 2022. Im a mexican whos been living in birmingham since 1991 when there were 0 latinos , i lived the struggle when they used to look at us funny but we always held our own , things have come a long way. We even have 2 fm radio stations for la raza and a couple of latin festivals and day of the dead festvals that fill up with thousands of latinos.

Jose, some people don’t trust you if they don’t know your mom or went to your high school. People can be shallow. Depth they’ll never find. That’s their problem. Depth is better than a kiddie pool.
extortion, hate crimes, intimidation, real estate fraud, police basically told us "your not form here so, if criminals come and hurt you.. we wont even take a crime report.. consider leaving or protecting yourself because we cant, and wont do it".. basically the police gave criminals the green light, after that point we had to carry an ar12 just to go get gas down the road.

I suspect LA MS WV and parts of AR are just as bad .. if not worst. backwoods places are NOT welcoming to outsiders. let me add, Florida panhandle has some spots like that too.
I think you wanted a different experience while in Alabama, especially Birmingham. There's a lot of drugs/crime in that city I'm from there.
