I like 90% of these types of commentary channels, but yeah, I do agree that it is weird that so many of them have the same types of thumbnails.

I think the worst part is that not only do they copy each others thumbnails but they all have the exact same opinions on nearly everything, so it's really "you've seen one, you've seen them all" which kind of sucks when that is what gets popular, making the entire genre of commentary becoming stale when there is a lot of valuable insight that could be added, but creators don't so that they can be deemed as "safe".
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I specifically typed in commentary channel thumbnails. This popped up. It was definitely worth the view ❤❤

Really good video! Great script and good delivery. Maybe future videos can have more editing, like nakeyjakey, you give off a vibe that could pull that off. I think that you can make it far on youtube, just keep working at it. 🦍
That's why the series called a Nothing Burger its a way for me pump a video to the algorithm every week. But you're right about the video impact being greater with more editing.

ive only just started the video and my opinion is that they want to actually get views, because of the current state of youtubes algorithm if their thumbnail doesnt look the way it does they would get way less new viewers
EDIT: done with the video now, I see your point on them all being very similar and that is certainly the case with a lot of them however Gabi Belle and Chad Chad (both women) have come onto the scene and made very interesting videos with their own sub styles but still inspired by drew and danny. Also you seem to agree with the idea i had previously

Tbh, it wouldn't be a commentary channel if they didn't include themselves into the thumbnails having disgusted faces, yellow text, some white border around the the subject they're talking about, and rotten tomatoes scores of they're talking about a show or a movie.

Do you think UA-cam has now become an opportunity, job or side hustle for so many people due to the low bar of entry that this ethos leads to ‘copying’?
“If it’s not broken don’t fix it”. If the views are coming in for doing what others do they why stop?
In a broader sense, being unabashedly yourself will tend to create something ‘original’. But do you think that becomes difficult to categorise and consume as a ‘product’ of entertainment, something maybe too artistic?
Its difficult blend to create between art and business, but if done properly the work speaks for itself
I for one appreciate that they do so I can instantly avoid watching them at all.
