  • How did the real life Serpent escape an Indian prison? What did Netflix get wrong about Dominique’s story? Was Marie-Andrée the Serpent’s victim or his partner? And who of the real witnesses didn’t like their depiction in the series? Find the answers in this video!
    Did you know that they called him Serpent because of how sly, poisonous and manipulative he was? Even if he was caught, Charles Sobhraj could find his way out of jail.
    Some people claim that Marie-Andree was very much aware of Sobhraj’s crimes. Others claim that she was very much consciously involved.
    But there are also those who deny that Marie was Sobhraj’s partner.
    Nadine Gires for example.
    Yes, according to Nadine’s interview to the Daily Mail, Maria-Andree was more of a prisoner, than a partner.

    I was never so scared of being a victim of a serial killer before like I am of being one now... I have always traveled alone overseas and stayed in hostels, making friends and partying with other travelers, pretty much the way the series showed. What I love in particular about this show is how you get a little more insight into the victims before they were murdered, it's something I wish we would see more of, an important part of the story that sometimes is glossed over in a few sentences or lack of detail. I think it makes the show more terrifying and more connecting in a way.

    Charles is probably thrilled that he is a infamous & this series had been made about him. I feel Monique was innocent at the start but she ended up as a full accomplice. She could have saved many lives had she had a conscience. It's like women who allow their partners to abuse their kids. I have little sympathy.

    The reason why the victims didn't easily walk away is because Sobhraj wasn't overly scary; people get involved into mystery and the paradoxical fear and love relationship. It's like when you're on the other side of the fence, looking to a lion, and you know if he escapes, he can kill you.

    • @thatsominique

    Wow. I had no idea this Documentary was so true to some of the people portrayed in the series. Thank god for Knippenberg (the Dutch Embassy guy), it's insane that he was like the only one of those guys who cared enough to do something about it. Well the Belgian guy (if played correctly) was a good friend and much more helpful to Knippinberg, and was possibly correct for wanting to just shoot Sobhraj from the very beginning lol. But then again, it should have been taken care of by the law way enforcement way sooner. And I'm surprised the wife of Knippenburg thought she was ubderplayed in the series though. I totally saw them as a power couple in the process of putting a stop to Sobhraj, the series truly makes it look like he could not have done it without her at all. If anything, he almost seemed way too dependent on her sometimes.

    I did enjoy the video but there's something I'm really curious about that it didn't touch on. In the show, Charles ends up getting together again with Juliette at/around the time where he is being interviewed in the part that is shown in the very beginning of the show and towards the end. I was very surprised to see this & was just wondering if you knew, did they in fact get back together? Thanks!

    Dominique was indeed very lucky that those two ppl were so empathetic and kind. What a great couple of ppl. True evil versus good d knippenberg what an amazing guy! Deserves tk be honoured for his work. Knippenberg says Marie was sucked in and in awe of Charles but that she is take part. I know who I'd believe! Charles a pure psychopath, the series sucked me in with the frustration these ppl felt when authority didn't help them. May those who died be at peace now, they paid the ultimate price but we remember them least ✌

    I am a French native and the casting of Jenna Colemann is probably the only big mistake of the series. Her accent doesn't sound as French nor Quebecian genuine accent, but like a badly concealed British accent. They should have hired an actual Quebec actress instead.

    • @Angelica-bc9zm
      @Angelica-bc9zm 2 роки тому +2

      Kinda agree, they really nailed the other actors in terms of accents, appearance and portrayal, but they couldn’t stay away from the typical old “femme fatale” narrative with a super attractive woman playing the lead
