    The bulky cable bundle leading to the glovebox DVR might be solved on future versions by using networking technology instead.
    If the recorder was rather an Network Video Recorder (NVR) then the two video signals could easily share a thin CAT-5 network cable (stranded wire, not solid, for flexibility). Then there would just be the multi-function button and power cables.
    With Power Over Ethernet (PoE), perhaps even the power cable could be eliminated.
    There might still be a need for a combiner box (really, just a digital switch) for the cables to come together outside of the NVR, but that could be hidden under the dash, thus returning some of the glovebox capacity.
    This is a very nice setup that will surely benefit from further refinement in future versions.

    Part of the reason I don't have a dashcam is because I don't want someone breaking into my car to steal it. That's the reason I'd consider something like this even though I don't have a luxury vehicle.

    thank you for your video. being in lockdown in NSW Australia its hard to see dash cams in person so your videos have been amazing. Am checking out a range of dash cams before selecting one. Love having a screen and wifi but all those cables etc in my glovebox is making me hesitant about this one. everything else ticks all the boxes

      Glad you found the vid helpful Kristen. The cables shouldn't be *too* messy as long as you have a good electronics installer. I was able to have my dashcam plus all of my other glove compartment junk in there without issue.

    Thanks for the review. Does it have Buffered Memory when in Parking Mode?

      Hi Dean- thanks for checking out my review vid. The SG9663DR does not have Buffered Parking Mode. But it does have a G-sensor which saves all impacts and bumps to the vehicle. And the parking mode that it does use records pretty much everything while parked, which I prefer instead of relying on a hit-or-miss motion detection mechanism (always ran into issues of consistency with cameras that have motion sensor buffer). As is, my SG9663DR does not miss a single moment while parked.

    Can you use it as a reversing camera? So that I can see behind my truck when I'm reversing.

      Yes you can BUT only if your vehicle already has that capability wired in. Because then your installer would just connect its existing wiring to the SG9663DR's rear-facing camera. And it's likely that you'll need an additional Factory Integration Adapter which is purchased separately. It would be best to contact your installer ahead of time to confirm- they would definitely know this.

    How does this compare, feature-wise, with other Street Guardian products? Specially, mobile app support, the panic button, and parking mode?

    • @JeremyY
      @JeremyY  3 роки тому

      It's basically on-par with the other SG products as far as those features go. But as of now the 3DR is the only one with the panic button. I was surprised at how much I like having one. I hope they incorporate it into other models, or sell it as an optional addition to existing ones.

    Thanks for the nice video review. FYI: Image Quality hasn't been adjusted yet in the release firmware as shown. Low light WDR and overall image quality will be dramatically improved on the next firmware update. Here is an example of what's coming. www.dropbox.com/s/ar3bsrurhd4dx5f/V1-32-MOD-4-WDR-OFF-vs-WDR-ON-1.jpg?dl=0

      When is the next firmware update.

    • @StreetGuardianJON
      @StreetGuardianJON 3 роки тому

      @@pgrut8880 No exact ETA at the moment. We need to finish up the next DCPRO+ and X2PRO+ firmware first (nearly done) as some of what we're doing in those will have changes that will also be in the DR, 4 to 6 weeks maybe at best

    Cmon man at least give credit where you got the sample footage from. I can see parts of vortex radar youtube channel shown here.

    • @JeremyY
      @JeremyY  3 роки тому +6

      All sample footage in this video is mine and if this footage appears anywhere else then my footage is being used without my permission. I spent weeks recording the footage so it's all original and 100% mine. Let's see some links for those "vortex radar" videos that my sample footage is apparently being taken from, or timestamps for the video clips in my video.

      3 weeks later and you still haven't provided any actual links or timestamps to back up your bogus claims!
