I’ve got the Hruodland (pronounced Roland) IWC Turbine Custom homage and the Zenith Pilot homage. Hruodland is definitely putting out a quality product with insane value. I’m definitely buying this MILSPEC homage. Thanks for the review
Ha! No worries. It’s the old High Germanic (or Medieval Latin) of the name Roland. He was a Frankish military general who served under Charlemagne. Died in battle in 778. He even has a 17th century Opera written about him. You now know more than 95% of the population about Hruodland😅
To be fair, I didn’t buy the watch during one of the big Sales that happen on AliExpress. I’m sure you could get the watch for even less during one of those sales
I just purchased a Tornek-Rayville homage watch from Rdunae. Ordered a SEIKO NH38 so it will have a true no-date movement (only because I saw someone else do it 😂). It would be nice if you could get this watch dial without a date. Otherwise, great looking watch. Makes you wonder how Blancpain, or any manufacturer for that matter, can charge what they charge for watches. $20K more for a few more seconds accuracy per day. 😂
I'll have to look that homage up! I believe Hroudland actually does offer this model without a date! I just prefer this look myself. Dial 2 and 3 both don't have date windows: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802909029071.html
when you see the real thing you will get the huge difference in quality the fifty fathoms is my grail watch i get why people buy these but its no blancpain .
The etched name on the side of the case is the only reason I like the Fifty Fathoms so much. Swatch kind of didn't work because they went with "Swatch" which didn't have enough characters... I am definitely going to go with this model as a Swatch fifty fathoms alternative
@@gadgetbeacon 1545. Price About $900. In the video, the hroudland finish (I think) is similar in quality. The sw200 mechanism in both models. So why buy a squale?

Squale is a very important brand in terms of their impact on modern watch design in my opinion.
@@gadgetbeacon it's more of a microbrand then a Chinese brand. They don't make many models, but I have Steeldive's version and theirs, which imo, true north watch Co is better overall
I actually had a True North version of this….horrible experience. Bezel action was horrendous and bezel ring is half what it should be for the insert so it cracked almost immediately. No way the true north was worth $445! The only plus was the half way decent movement. The hands were way too small, the print was bad. Really this might be better.
Thanks for the feedback, sorry to hear you felt that way. I’ll rewatch it and try to improve. I really like this watch, and only have positive things to say about it.

I looked everywhere trying to figure out how to pronounce it 🤦🏼♂️ my mistake.

I bet this is made in one of the same exact factories that make the Blancpain replicas.
The dimensions are different, but I'm sure the factories make cases for all kinds of brands
If you mentioned the lug width I missed it. Wondering if is 20mm?
It is indeed 20mm!
They seem to offer the sw200 but they are charging way to much imo for a pt5000

Costs more than the Seiko Fifty Fathoms homage. Wonder if its better than the Seiko.
I definitely think this is a bit more unique and I personally like this movement and case more

It’s honestly such a great little watch!!!
Cool watch ! Which is better: Squale or Hroudland? Is it worth overpaying for Swiss watch ?
I’d say Squale is definitely the superior watch! Depends on the price and the piece for sure, but I’d be happy buying a Squale at retail MSRP

great video, I think True North Watch Co.'s blackfish was a better homage, but also reasonable priced when biding
Haven't heard of that one but I'll check it out! Thanks!

This watch is better than the Blancpain Swatch. Ouch. 😂
Definitely one of my favorite watches this year!

Not gonna buy one. It has the looks, it needs improvement..
What would you improve out of curiosity? They have other color options and dial layouts as well, but I agree there are things I would change

Strap. Da🤷🏼♂️.
Date window.
Sound of the bezel turning.
Crown and crown guards.
Very condescending un boxing.. I'll look at it elsewhere.

Sorry, but I hate that yellow circle.
Not for everyone! Definitely a throwback to the old days! This one seems perfect for the Halloween season right now with the orange and yellow
